A luxury sedan denoting flagship styling and comfort, the Jaguar XF comes at a way lesser price than some of its key rivals like the Audi A6 and Mercedes-AMG E53. The sedan made a significant place in the market until the Electric model – XJ came into existence. The engine on the base trim delivers an average power output, but its higher variant pairing only with the AWD system makes a sophisticated 296 hp. German competitors are capable of accelerating with more power. The British automaker proposes an impressive cabin along with an adequate amount of space for the passengers

Expert Review, Pricing Analysis and Buying Guide

For the 2023 generation of the XF, the Jaguar has not made any significant progress. It is expected to bring some minor alterations in the interior, features, and exterior design with a bit more appealing approach. S and SE trims will be powered by the same turbocharged I4 engine with RWD while the R-Dynamic trim will have AWD. The same curvaceous design will be proceeding this year also. The all-electric XJ will define more luxury and a refreshed feel. This year, the Jaguar XF will be competing against the Genesis G80, the Audi A6, and the Mercedes-Benz E-class.

Features

7.5/10

The Jaguar XF lineup is simple, it starts with the ordinary S, then SE, and the top variant of the kind– the R-Dynamic SE. All the models carry an 11.4-inch infotainment touchscreen. The S and the SE are equipped only with an RWD system, meanwhile the R-Dynamic comes standard with an AWD.

We Recommend

CARHP recommends going for the top variant R-Dynamic SE. It delivers all the optional package features of the SE trim, as standard. It also comes equipped with a powerful engine to provide more horses. Soft-closing door, heated steering wheel, and more bouncy 17-speaker audio system truly justify its price. All black exterior trim gives it a performance-oriented look and helps differentiate it from the other variants. 20-inch alloys along with an AWD system.

The 2023 Genesis G80 and the Audi A6 are the fastest cars in comparison. The G80 also offers the highest power and torque delivery. The Mercedes-Benz E-class and the Audi A6 are on the same price line, while the Jaguar is the most affordable sedan. Except for the G80, all the remaining models are offering almost the same top speeds. The E-Class takes the most amount of time to catch 0-60 speed. The Genesis and the Audio offer a standard AWD system while the other two have RWD.

2023 Jaguar XF Ride and Handling

The Jaguar XF is known for its comfortable ride along with a sportier edge. The vehicle provides a soothing experience not just for the passengers but also for the driver. The standard leather upholstery with heated front seats gets toasted easily and offers enough heating in cold weather conditions. The heated steering wheel on the SE demands extra bucks to install. Just riding the car immediately feels relaxed. The paddle shifters are enjoyable and feel like a high-quality material. The steering column feels lightweight and premium. Depending upon the various terrains and climate conditions, the XF comes with rain, ice, snow, eco, and comfort mode, meanwhile, the top variant gets an R-Dynamic mode that possesses an extra boost to the acceleration of the vehicle. It uses Double Wishbone suspension for the front and Multi-Link suspension for the rear wheels. Turning radius of 39.4 ft.

2023 Jaguar XF Braking System

Along with the 4-wheel disc-brake system, the Jaguar is furthermore suited with various driver-assistive features like adaptive cruise control on the top variant and emergency braking with pedestrian detection as standard on the two basic trims. The system uses a radar system mounted on the front and rear sensors of the vehicle. It identifies when a possible collision is about to occur and responds by automatically activating the brakes to slow down the vehicle before the impact or bring it to a stop to avoid a collision.

The 2023 Jaguar XF is the lightest car in the comparison. Thanks to its bigger brake calipers, the 2023 A6 stops the car faster than the 2023 XF. When comparing the brake rotors and curb weights of the G80 and the Audi A6, an educated guess concludes that the G80 will take the same distance to stop. The Genesis has the highest curb weight.

Fuel Economy

7.0/10

The RWD models of the XF achieve competitive mileage figures when compared to its key rivals in the segment. They deliver a mileage of – 25 mpg in the city, 33 mpg on the highways, and 28 mpg combined. With a standard fuel capacity of 19.5 gallons across all trims, it ensures range figures of – 487.5 miles when driving in the city, 643.5 miles while running it on the highways and 546 miles combined.

The R-Dynamic model, being a performance indicator sucks more fuel and hence manages fuel economy of – 22 mpg in the city, 30 mpg on the highway, and 25 mpg combined. This again results in the lesser miles figure — 429 in the city, 585 miles on the highway, and 487.5 combined.

The 2023 Jaguar XF is the most fuel-efficient car on the table. With its highest fuel capacity, it also delivers the highest range figures among all the rivals. The Mercedes-Benz E-Class provides an extra mpg than the G80. The Audi A6 efficiently manages an extra mpg more in the city and combined than the E-Class. The A6 also ensures more miles than the G80 and the E-Class. The G80 has the lowest fuel capacity.

Interior

7.0/10

Jaguar use a high-quality leather material inside the XJ to ensure a maximum amount of comfort and supportiveness. The dashboard devises a tablet-looking infotainment screen. The interior looks pretty minimalistic and delivers a sense of a flagship luxury vehicle. Chrome plated ports and buttons along with the rotatory control for PRND. For an average size adult, the doors are large enough to easily get in and out, but people above that can face problems. The interior is roomy and the second row nourishes a generous amount of space for the passengers. The comfort increases with the ventilated front seats when we climb up to the R-Dynamic trim. The driver controls are easily accessible but the infotainment menu is vague to operate for a new driver.

The comfortable cushioning and side bolster help maintain the long drive appraising. Last year's redesigned center console consists of a wireless charger. Proper padding along with the wood trim and chrome metallic trim on the door panel makes it look gorgeous. Well-stitched seats with height adjustments in the front row ensure nice visibility. Overhauled climate controls hold self-contained functions. The interior lets in a little engine noise, but it is quite silent when compared to other rivals The Jaguar has not touched the cargo area to occupy more luggage.

The newest G80 offers the roomiest interior in the comparison. The 2023 Audi A6, has the highest cargo carrying capacity. The Mercedes-Benz E-Class and the Genesis G80 offer equal amounts of cargo space. In the second row, the A6 and the 2023 E-Class offers almost a similar amount of room. • 8-way passenger adjustable seat
  • Leather front seats
  • Manually adjustable tilt and telescopic steering column
  • Power adjustable steering on the top trim
  • Power rear windows
  • Voice recorder

How Intuitive is the 2023 Jaguar XF infotainment system?

The infotainment system on the XF senses premium touch, but the infotainment screen offers a vague menu that is not acceptable. The Pivi Pro system runs through the screen only, which is quite bright and it delivers a good touch response. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are easily integrated. The navigation system also detects the locations/addresses rapidly. The 12-speakers on the S sound great, however, the 17-speaker surround sound system amplifies the sound quality to the next level.

The voice controls obey the basic commands but do not respond quickly. The parking sensors are not well optimized, they start beeping even when you are in traffic. The single buttons work as Adaptive Cruise control and Speed limiter, which sometimes lets the driver bemused.

Highlights of the infotainment system–

  • Voice activation
  • Steering wheel controls
  • 12 speakers
  • Integrated roof antenna
  • Digital signal processor
  • Automatic Equalizer
  • 10GB internal memory
  • Radio data system
  • Jaguar optimized assistance call and stolen vehicle locator

Exterior

The Jaguar comes standard with 18-inch seven-spoke alloy wheel. The R-Dynamic trims get a special black badging along with it. It comes standard in a black exterior color to indicate its power and performance. The Jaguar has ironed out all the imperfections of the last year's generation to give it a more refined approach. The front grille with the iconic Jaguar logo looks more muscular and at the same time more sleek and refined. The red LED headlights along with the black front grille, define the aggressive face of the R-Dynamic trim

19-inch alloy wheels along with the red brake calipers. Chrome ascents bordering the window on the S and SE seem good and catching. While the R-Dynamic offers only black accents across the car exterior. The tail lights maintain the signature style of the Jaguar. The well-proportionate XF looks sober.

Competition

2023 Jaguar XF vs. 2023 Genesis G80

With an extra $4000, the Genesis G80 offers the most in-segment power and performance. The XF delivers better fuel economy and range figures. The G80 offers an extended wheelbase and offers a more roomy interior. The XF comes with lesser curb weight. The Genesis G80 has more cargo capacity. The exterior design of the Genesis showcases a more approachable look, while the interior of the XF has a larger 11.6 infotainment touchscreen.

2023 Jaguar XF vs. 2023 Audi A6

With an extra $8000 bucks, the A6 offers more horsepower and a standard AWD system with it. The XF provides more ground clearance. The Audi A6 offers furious acceleration and more top speed. The Jaguar XF offers a longer wheelbase. The newest A6 offers more cargo carrying space. The piano black trim on the dashboard of the new A6 looks fantastic and merges with the infotainment touchscreen. The infotainment screen on the XF is a little vague to use.

2023 Jaguar XF vs. 2023 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

An extra $8000 hike in the Mercedes E-Class does not worth the price when compared to the Jaguar XF. The 2023 E-Class does provide a few more horses and torque than the XF, but it brings the same standard RWD system. The XF has a more roomy interior and cargo capacity, but the E-Class has a better user-friendly infotainment touchscreen. Infamous tail lights of the XF maintain a signature look, while the LED headlights on the E-Class provide the best in segment visibility.

Final Verdict

It s the most affordable car in the segment It offers a great value for money as it offers a competitive amount of luxury and a fun ride experience to its rivals like the BMW 5 series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class. Seats are made up of high-quality materials and the last year's refreshed dashboard refers to it to have a luxury-looking minimal interior. Offers a good amount of seating space and cargo capacity. A great fuel economy in the segment.
