The 2014 Jeep Cherokee has been redesigned from the ground up. With a modern Jeep design and a luxurious interior, the 2014 Jeep Cherokee is sure to impress. With the choice of two capable powertrain options that include Jeep's all-new 2.4l Tigershark I4 engine and the 3.2l Pentastar V6 engine you never have to make a compromise when it comes to utility, capability, or style. It faces stiff competition from Honda CR-V, Ford Escape, and Toyota RAV4.

Our recommendation would be to get the Limited trim as it comes with all the safety and luxury features you need to be loaded with an excellent engine. Trailhawk trim is ideal for campers and off-roaders who like to travel in style.

2014 Jeep Cherokee Engine and Performance

9.0/10

Jeep Cherokee's 2014 engine options include a V6 and an inline-4. Powered by a 2.4L four-cylinder engine that puts out 184 horsepower and 171 lb-ft of torque, the base model is equipped with front-wheel drive as standard and a four-wheel drivetrain as an option. However, the acceleration performance is not that impressive. The 3.2-liter V6 engine makes an impressive 271 horsepower.

In terms of performance, the 9.5 seconds to reach 60 mph and the 17.2 seconds to cover the quarter-mile are quite impressive. It rides smoothly on the road and offers excellent off-road traction. A variety of gear ratios are provided by models equipped with Active Drive II (including the Trailhawk). The towing capacity of Cherokee V6 models is 4,500 pounds when properly equipped.

The Jeep Cherokee runs slowly, and thus comes in the last place on acceleration charts. Honda's CR-V and Toyota's RAV4 perform better than Jeep and Ford, with the Toyota RAV4 reaching 60mph the fastest from a standstill. The Ford Escape and Jeep Cherokee are capable of achieving speeds exceeding 130 mph despite RAV4's better acceleration.

2014 Jeep Cherokee Fuel Economy

6.0/10

The Jeep Cherokee can be configured with a variety of engines and drivetrains, which leads to different EPA ratings. Its four-cylinder engine and front-wheel drive enable it to achieve a combined fuel economy of 25 mpg, 22 mpg in the city, and 31 mpg on the highway. Its V6 engine and front-wheel drive combine to offer 22 mpg combined, 19 mpg city, and 28 mpg highway.

In comparison, both the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4 display impressive numbers. In comparison with the Jeep and Ford crossovers, these Japanese vehicles drive more efficiently. While the Jeep Cherokee comes with a large fuel tank capacity of 15.8 gallons, the RAV4 is the largest with a 15.9 gallons tank.
