The last time Jeep had a pickup truck on offer was back in 1992 called the Comanche. The Comanche was based on the Cherokee and had a short run in the market for 7 years from 1985 to 1992. After 28 years, Jeep came back into the pickup truck segment in 2020 with the launch of the Gladiator- an off-roading pickup truck that shares its underpinnings with the Wrangler.
2022 Jeep Gladiator Crew Cab Dashboard
Into its third model year now, the 2022 Jeep Gladiator is priced at around $35,600. The truck is offered in 9 different trim levels but is only available in a crew-cab configuration and single engine option. It comes equipped with a 3.6-liter V6 engine mated to a standard 6-speed manual or an optional automatic in a 4-wheel drive configuration only. Plus, it gets chunky all-terrain tires along with a suspension setup that’s tuned for off-roading.
However, we’re not going to talk about the Gladiator’s off-roading prowess. In this review, we shall be focussing on the interior of the truck and see if it's worth it.
The interior of the Gladiator is all made out of tough and durable materials and there’s nothing fancy about the cabin. There’s a tall, squared-off dashboard with circular air-con vents on it and a square-shaped infotainment display in the center. The center console houses the gear-shift lever along with a high/low range gear selector. There are hard plastics all around, understandably so, since premium leather and other fancy bits won't make much sense in a hardcore off-roading pickup truck.
2022 Jeep Gladiator Crew Cab Rear Seats
There’s plenty of passenger space on offer with adequate room for five passengers to sit in comfortably. There’s decent head, shoulder, and legroom on both the rows and even taller people will not have any trouble fitting in, credit to the tall and boxy shape of the truck. The seats are pretty snug and offer good support with the right amount of bolstering that holds you well in place. On the whole, the cabin of the Gladiator is pretty comfortable, especially considering it's an off-road-focused pickup truck that's meant to scale unknown paths.

The Jeep has the most spacious cabin in the competition. It might not be the most opulent or the most upscale on the inside but it's certainly the roomiest of all. In terms of design, quality, fit and finish, we found the Ridgeline to be better than the rest as it features upscale materials and an elegant layout.
2022 Jeep Gladiator Crew Cab Infotainment
The 2022 Jeep Gladiator comes equipped with a UConnect 4 infotainment system as standard. It consists of a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment display and an 8-speaker audio system. The system is quite intuitive and easy to use. All the functions and features of the system are well laid out while all the menus are easy to navigate through. It is certainly one of the nicest systems that you’ll find in this segment.

The Nissan Frontier has the highest cargo carrying capacity in the competition with 40.1 cubic feet of volume. The Honda Ridgeline on the other hand has the lowest cargo space on offer but only by a small margin as compared to the Jeep.
Additional Interior Storage Spaces
There are several storage spaces on the inside. You get average-sized door pockets with bottle holders all around and a locking glove box upfront. The center console houses two cupholders followed by a deep storage cubby below the front armrest. On top of the dash, there's an additional storage compartment for smartphones, etc. The rear passengers also get fixed cupholders followed by map pockets on the front seatbacks. Furthermore, there is a lockable storage compartment under the rear bench that can be used to keep your personal effects away from prying eyes.
2022 Jeep Gladiator Crew Cab Creature Comforts
As mentioned earlier, the Gladiator is an off-road truck before anything else, so as expected the list of creature comforts is pretty short, especially with the base trim level. You get manually adjustable fabric-trimmed seats and manual air-conditioning as standard with the Sport trim and that's about it.
However, top-of-the-line trims like the Rubicon and Mojave get quite a few bells and whistles like 6-way power-adjustable front seats, leather upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, voice-activated infotainment system, and dual-zone automatic climate control.
Verdict
Yes, indeed the interior of the 2022 Jeep Gladiator is practical. It offers the most passenger space in its segment along with a decently-sized cargo bed. There are plenty of storage spaces on the inside as well. The infotainment is quite intuitive with all the essential features that one can ask for in a mid-size pickup truck. Moreover, with numerous trims to choose from, the cabin can either be barebones or loaded with all the bells and whistles as per your requirement.
In conclusion, Jeep has managed to craft a very practical and functional cabin that is surprisingly comfortable. And if you are looking for an off-road truck that can also double up as a family vehicle, the Gladiator should strongly be considered.
