The Trackhawk is the best and most glorious Jeep has to offer in the Grand Cherokee lineup. It is trim with an absolute monstrosity of an engine under the hood. It stands even above the SRT trim which is already well known for its larger engine and higher power output. The Trackhawk puts out phenomenal levels of power and torque that effectively drags this SUV to 60 in blistering speeds and times. The 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk comes completely unchanged from last year’s model.

It comes with the same supercharged 6.2 L V8 engine coupled with 8-speed automatic transmission. No SUV in the Trackhawk holds up against the Trackhawk in the price range or segment. So we have taken much more luxurious and expensive options including the 2019 BMW X6 M, Mercedes-Benz AMG GLE 63 S, and the Jaguar F-Pace SVR. All of these machines are much lower powered than the Jeep but still, they are extremely sporty and capable ones. Lets’s see how the Jeep competes with them.

We Recommend

The 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is a standalone trim that is the most powerful and expensive trim in the Grand Cherokee lineup. It comes with a super-strong, huge 6.2 L V8 engine along with a 4WD drivetrain and a Brembo brake system. The Trackhawk is the one to get if you want the most powerful SUV available in the market, regardless of the price or segment. It is the absolute most powerful one in the USA or even in the world right now.

2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk SUV Engine and Performance

9.0/10

The engine under the hood of the Trackhawk is a 6.2 L supercharged V8 engine putting out a whopping 707 hp and 645 lb-ft of maximum power and torque. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission powering all four wheels. The amount of power this vehicle generates considering the price it is sold for is mindblowing. It is one of the most powerful, if not the absolute most powerful SUV in the world right now. This thing can dominate a lot more expensive SUVs in the drag strip and just blast them behind it.

All that power is put into great use, the Trackhawk can just rocket to a speed of 60mph in just 3.3 seconds. This is an unbelievable level of acceleration made possible by an SUV of this size and shape. The quarter-mile time is 11.7 seconds which is also an extremely dominant number. This Jeep might not be as smooth or refined as the very expensive luxury rivals, but when it comes to speed and power they all would be left in the dust by the Jeep. It is an absolute powerhouse that will put a smile on your face and sometimes shock you when the pedal is pressed.

Nothing, absolutely nothing holds up to the Trackhawk in terms of raw power output. All of the more expensive rivals listed in the table produce power just above or in the mid-500hp levels while the Jeep is significantly more powerful. The same is the case with torque also, the Trackhawk is properly dominant by producing a whopping 645 lb-ft at a relatively higher 4800 rpm while others put out a lower amount of torque at lower rpms. The rivals are definitely smoother and more linear while the Jeep is just outright explosive.

How well does the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk Drive and Handle?

Expectations might be kept on the lower side about the handling of a heavy and large vehicle like the Trackhawk but the 2019 Jeep Trackhawk is a great handling machine. With the cornering capabilities, although not as superb as the X6 or other rivals, the Trackhawk can still tackle corners pretty aggressively and with stability. The ride quality is as expected on the stiffer side, and is quite too stiff to get a smooth driving experience.

The optional Pirelli P Zero tires are a recommended addition to the Trackhawk as they can provide maximum grip and traction and enhance the overall driving experience. The electric steering on the Trackhawk does provide a great driving feel while sometimes being slightly disconnected from the driver. The Trackhawk is a true road machine unlike the name suggests. The Trackhawk is a bliss to drive around through the canyons and on the highway with immense pleasure.

How efficient is the braking performance of the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk?

The super-powerful Trackhawk is equipped with super-powerful brakes to bring this mammoth to a stop effectively. The Trackhawk comes with a high-performance braking setup from Brembo consisting of six-piston calipers and 15.8-inch rotors in the front and four-piston calipers along with 13.8-inch rotors in the rear. They work very well and bring the Trackhawk to a stop in just 108 ft which is a superb distance, and considering the fact that this Jeep is more than 5,300 lbs makes this distance seem better.

The GLE 63 S comes with the most powerful brakes and takes the shortest distance to stop from a speed of 60mph. The BMW and the Trackhawk follow the Merc with a slight increase in the stopping distance, whereas the Jaguar takes a bit more time to stop. The Jeep along with the X6 and the GLE 63 S effectively manages to handle their heft and bring themselves to a stop in a short distance. The Jeep definitely holds up to the more expensive and more advanced rivals in the braking department.

2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk SUV Fuel Economy

7.1/10

Superb or even an above-average fuel efficiency is the last thing you would expect from an extremely powerful, hefty SUV with such a huge engine. The Jeep Trackhawk delivers a fuel economy of 11 mpg in the city, 17 on the highway, and a combined efficiency of 13 mpg. The Trackhawk comes with a higher capacity, 24.6 gallons which results in this Jeep delivering a combined range of 320 miles. These figures although are not on par with the rivals, the Trackhawk still holds up with the more fuel-efficient rivals by providing a respectable fuel economy for such a huge power output.

The Jag is the most fuel-efficient, providing a combined fuel economy of 18 mpg. The Jeep as expected comes with the least fuel efficiency. The BMW and the Mercedes perform in the middle grounds with similar efficiency figures. The Jaguar even while having a lower capacity fuel tank, still delivers the most range. It can travel almost 400 miles in combined road and driving conditions. The Merc and the BMW follows while the Jeep is at the last position.

2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk SUV Interior

7.5/10

The Jeep Grand Cherokee comes with a premium interior which is actually not up to the mark when considering the higher price point. It comes with the Premium Metal Package as standard that adds upgraded select bezels and accents of real textured metal in the interior at many places. The seats, as well as the dashboard of this topmost trim of Grand Cherokee, look neat and luxurious. The Trackhawk also features an exclusive upholstery trim with cushioned and quilted upscale leather-trimmed seats.

The Trackhawk offers great comfort in terms of seat quality as well as support. All of the elements and materials on the inside are of premium quality including leather-wrapped doors, a center console, and many other components. The Trackhawk also comes with a leather-wrapped steering wheel with real-wood accents which adds to the luxury. Space inside the cabin is plenty and the Trackhawk offers very spacious front and rear rows. The Trackhawk also provides a roomy cargo area measuring 36.3 cu-ft.

2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk SUV Exterior

9.0/10

The 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is a superb-looking machine with a traditional Jeep exterior. We know that the SRT trim looks much more aggressive and sporty than the normal trims of the Grand Cherokee. And since the Trackhawk stands above the SRT in terms of power output as well as speed, it also looks much more aggressive. The Trackhawk looks impressive from the outside with the typical Jeep design made to look extra athletic.

The 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk comes with huge 20-inch alloy wheels that are wrapped in high-performance tires accompanied by Brembo high-performance brake calipers. Even while being a high-powered SUV, the Trackhawk still has a high ground clearance of 8.1-inches which adds to the practicality even while the suspension setting is on the firmer side. The Trackhawk comes with the signature Jeep grille in the front that is blacked out accompanied by the HID headlamps on both sides. Overall the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is a superb-looking machine with exclusive accents that differentiate it from the usual Grand Cherokee.

Among the traditional-looking SUVs, that is the Merc, the Jeep, and the Jag, the GLE looks the more classy and luxurious one while the Jag is the sportier one. The Jeep Grand Cherokee looks the simplest and the least premium while actually being the most powerful. The following are some of the most important exterior features of the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk-

  • Commandview Dual-pane Panoramic Sunroof

2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk SUV Competition

7.0/10

2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk vs 2019 BMW X6 M

The BMW X6 M is a super capable coupe SUV with a unique design language and a smooth and powerful engine. The X6 M, although not as powerful as the Jeep, is just a little bit slower than the Trackhawk while being faster than all others in this comparison. The X6 M is, however, the better handling machine offering better driving dynamics and a more engaging driving experience. The BMW obviously comes with a more luxurious interior and a better ride quality.

2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk vs 2019 Mercedes-Benz AMG GLE 63 S

The Mercedes-Benz AMG GLE 63 is a sleek-looking machine offering impressive performance and a luxurious interior. The Jeep is much less expensive than the Merc while also being the faster and more powerful option. The GLE however, is more leaned towards a balanced performance in all matters, including speed, luxury, efficiency, and looks while the Trackhawk is all about power. For the price paid the Trackhawk is a better performer of course.

2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk vs 2019 Jaguar F-Pace SVR

The Jaguar F-Pace SVR is much less expensive than the Jeep while being slower. But the Jag offers a capable powertrain coupled with a luxurious interior. It offers great performance coupled with very superior fuel efficiency and range. The SVR also comes with a spacious interior although not as spacious as the Jeep. Overall, the Jeep is only better if you want the absolute most speed, and otherwise, the Jag is plenty enough and also saves you some money.

2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk SUV Final Verdict

8.0/10

The Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is the ultimate performance SUV you can buy for your hard-earned money. It comes with the largest engine and the most power and torque. It can dominate straight-line roads at blistering speeds. The Trackhawk also handles pretty well and offers a spacious interior. However, only if you want a super SUV that offers maximum performance and you are ready to sacrifice fuel efficiency and ride comfort for that sole reason, you should opt for the Trackhawk. Otherwise, there are better, more luxurious options available for the price. Overall, it is a true beast offering extreme levels of power and performance.
