Good off roader for open air driving

Pros - Amazing off-roading capabilities, unique style along with a potent engine.

Cons - Stiff urban ride quality, vague steering, long braking distance and cramped rear seats.

Capable off roader but stiff on urban roads My Wrangler is a one-of-a-kind off-roader that benefits from the flexibility of open-air driving. Although its aged style is a throwback to the past, it has just enough modern comforts and facilities. Buy a Wrangler if you need to go somewhere regardless of the terrain or the weather. No matter how you slice it, driving isn't fun. Sure, it's livable in the city, and it can get you from point A to point B quickly. Off-road, the imprecise steering makes sense when I'm going through rugged terrain, and I don't want a car that's as responsive to little inputs. The controls are obvious and well-organized, but the majority of the interior appears to have been desi...

Fantastic off-roading compact SUV

Pros - Car-like touches in cabin, strong V6 acceleration, unstoppable when on the trail along with a rugged Jeep character.

Cons - Sloppy on road handling, weak braking performance, noisy interior and lots of body roll.

Compact SUV which is not much suitable as a daily driver. I have a mixed bag of emotions with my two year old Wrangler. Although it provides more options and features than ever before in a superbly off-road competent package, it is not comfortable enough to be used as daily transportation. Although it can dive headfirst into areas where few other vehicles dare to venture, the bricklike aerodynamics limit higher-speed acceleration. On-road driving is further impeded by extreme noise levels, poor and erratic steering, and an odd combination of an unrefined ride quality and a lot of body roll and low traction while turning. It also has a more usable 31.5 cubic feet and a spacious 70.6 cubic feet when the...

Compact SUV with poor ride quality and practicality

Pros - Iconic rugged looks, champion off-roader, user friendly infotainment system and a strong engine.

Cons - Rough everyday ride, noisy cabin, less cargo space and slow steering.

Affordable classic offroading SUV I love going on weekend excursions with my 2 door Jeep Wrangler which according to me is the ultimate off-roading king. Although it is an American SUV icon and off-road marvel, it is not without flaws. It has a poor fuel efficiency of roughly 15mpg in the city and 22mpg on the highway, and its ride quality is worse to almost any passenger car on normal urban roads. There's also a lot of wind noise inside the cabin and the cargo space is also subpar. But my purpose of purchase was neither ride quality nor practicality. It was purely purchased for my weekend off roading excursions and for that it does its job quite well. Fair, friendly, and simple to work with. I ...

Expert Review, Pricing Analysis and Buying Guide

Overall Rating

The 2017 Jeep Wrangler offers a mighty line-up of ten trims. It could be categorized in terms of pricing into three levels. The base level includes three trims at $23,995. The mid-level comes priced at $30,445 with an offering of six trims. The high-end trim comes priced at $33,645, the Rubicon trim. All the trims come with a 3.6L V6 engine. It further generates a best-in-class power and torque output of 285 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque.

2017 Jeep Wrangler

The exteriors are no doubt carried forward, they still remain bulky and sturdy. The interiors too offer the bare minimum, in terms of its infotainment offering especially. The comfort is just about average and it does have a few creature comforts to flaunt. The safety performance is about average as graded by IIHS. For its price point, the Wrangler does make a good offering.

2017 Jeep Wrangler Engine and Performance

"Wranglers come in two body styles, the basic two-door and the four-door Wrangler Unlimited. Both are propelled by a 3.6-liter V-6 (285 horsepower, 260 lb-ft of torque), sending torque to all four wheels via a six-speed manual (standard) or five-speed automatic transmission." -Car and Driver

Engine & Transmission of the 2017 Jeep Wrangler

For the 2017 model year the Jeep Wrangler offers a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine, it is capable of generating 285 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. It has a 6-speed automatic transmission that takes care of delivering the power to the front wheels, FWD is the only available drivetrain though.
