Expert Review, Pricing Analysis and Buying Guide

Sport and Rubicon are the two primary trim choices for the two-door Wrangler. Also based on the Sport are the Willys Sport, Sport S, Willys, and Altitude. An additional option for the four-door Wrangler Unlimited includes the Sahara. The Jeep Wrangler starts at an MSRP of $30,295 that can range up to $80,390 in this segment it will always face the likes of the Ford Bronco, the Land Rover Defender, and the Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Features

Jeep Wrangler offers a standard two-way door model and a four-way door model, known as the Unlimted. It has two primary trims: Sport and Rubicon, however, it comes along with different sub-trims in the Sport trim such as Willys Sport, Sport S, Willys, and Altitude. Along with that the Unlimited model additionally offers the Sahara.

The base trim, the Wrangler Sport starts at an MSRP of $30,295, most of the Wranglers comes with a part-time four-wheel drivetrain as standard. However, an optional full-time four-wheel drivetrain is also available. Additionally, it comes along with some standard specifications such as a 7-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system, eight-speed transmission, 17-inch black steel wheels, a soft top roof without a zipper, manually folding mirrors, and roll-up windows.

We Recommend

There are various trims options to select from, however, in terms of the value we will recommend the 2023 Jeep Wrangler Sport S trim that offers most of the standard equipment and even comes at an affordable price. Along with that, it comes with brilliant alloy wheels measuring 17 inches, automatic headlights, a wrapped steering wheel, and remote keyless entry.

The Sport S trim can be upgraded with some additional features such as Corning gorillas glass windshield, an 8.4-inch touchscreen system with a 9-speaker alpine system which adds up to an additional MSRP of $3,7895 but it is worth the cost.

Release Date

The release date details regarding the 2023 Jeep Wrangler isn’t been confirmed officially. Customers can go to the official website of Jeep Wrangler and book the desired model, however, we believe that it will be ready for delivery at the showroom and dealership in the fall of 2022.

Engine and Performance

There is no denying the Wrangler's superior off-road performance. The 2023 Jeep Wrangler offers five different engine options to select from. The base configuration has a 3.6L V6 engine that may be paired to either a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic transmission that can generate an output of 285 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. Following that a 2.0L turbo engine can generate a maximum of 270 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. The base engine can accelerate from 0 to 60 MPH in around 7.6 seconds. While it can cover a quarter-mile mark in 15 seconds. Along with that, the turbo engine is a preferable choice due to its superior fuel efficiency and torque.

The standard engine offers adequate power to spin the rear tires from a still-standing start, but it is understood that the much heavier four-door model will move much slower than the two-door model. The turbo 2.0L turbo engine adds up a better fuel efficiency than the conventional V6, surprisingly it also feels quite quicker than the V6. It offers plenty of muscle than can take it easily around the town and up to the speed of highway or expressway confidently.

Even with a 2.3L Inline4 cylinder, the Ford Bronco offers a powerful engine performance that can generate a maximum of 300 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque. Along with that, the Ford Bronco can complete a run from 0 to 60 MPH in 6.5 seconds while completing a quarter-mile mark in 15.1 seconds. Second, on the list comes the Land Rover Defender which can generate an output of 296 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. However, the Jeep Wrangler doesn’t offer that much competitive engine performance but it compensates with an average top speed of 111 MPH.

The Jeep Cherokee is placed in second place which can complete a run from 0 to 60 MPH in 7.4 seconds while completing a quarter-mile mark in 15.6 seconds. The Land Rover Defender is at the bottom of the table which can complete a run of 0 to 60 MPH in 7.9 seconds while covering a quarter-mile mark in 16.4 seconds. However, the Land Rover Defender compensates with a top speed of 120 MPH that outperforms all its rivals.

2023 Jeep Wrangler Ride and Handling

The Wrangler still seems to be generally challenging to drive. On the highway, the vehicle drifts off its lane due to sluggish steering and crosswinds. Your entire body is affected by bumps and other road defects, while greater speeds with the soft top produce horrible wind noise. Although the steering is faster and there is less body roll than previously, the Wrangler still lacks the reflexes and agility of a modern car. When driving on poor ground, its tight suspension causes judders and jolts to enter the cabin. It also struggles to control body lean at curves and withstand crosswinds on the highway, making it an unpleasant and clumsy SUV.

2023 Jeep Wrangler Braking Performance

The 2023 Jeep Wrangler offers a good potent list of features when it comes to deceleration. Although the brakes provide respectable stopping strength, the ambiguous pedal feel can make smooth stops difficult to achieve. All the models of the Jeep Wrangler come preloaded with heavy-duty 4-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, hydraulic assist brake booster, and front and rear vented discs to keep along with its performance. Additionally, it offers a large front brake which is 12.9 inches, and a rear brake rotor which measures 13.6 inches respectively.

The Land Rover Defender when compared to its competition offers large front brake rotors that measure 14.3 inches and rear brake rotors at 13.8 inches. Second, comes the Jeep Cherokee with a front brake rotor size of 13.9 inches and a rear brake rotor of 13.8 inches. However, the  Ford Bronco falls at the bottom of the table with a front brake rotor of 12.2 inches and a rear brake rotor of 12.1 inches but compensates with a relatively less curb weight of 4,286 lbs making it feel much lighter and easier to maneuver. The Jeep Grand Cherokee offers a much less curb weight of 4,238 lbs and takes little effort for a car traveling at high speeds in deceleration than its adversaries. Second, comes the Ford Bronco with 4,286 lbs curb weight, however, the Jeep Wrangler has the highest curb weight i.e. 5,100 lbs which makes it heavier than the competitors in its class.

Fuel Economy

The 2023 Jeep Wrangler offers a subpar fuel efficiency with other conventional compact SUVs. According to EPA, the base trim i.e. Jeep Wrangler Sport delivers a mileage of 17 MPG in the city, 25 MPG on the highway, and 20 MPG combined. Along with that, it offers a bigger and better fuel tank which measures a maximum of 21.8 gallons.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee has an overall better fuel efficiency over its other competitors which can provide a mileage 26 MPG on the highway and 22 MPG combined. Along with that, it offers a range of 598 miles on the highway so you don’t have to unnecessarily think of waiting at gas stations. On the other hand, the Ford Bronco offers better fuel efficiency of 20 MPG in the city other than its adversaries. Second, comes the 491 miles on the highway. On the other hand, the Frond bronco falls at the bottom of the table with a mileage of 338 miles in the city. Additionally, it offers the lowest fuel-tank size which measures 16.9 gallons. On the other hand, the Land Rover Defender has a fuel tank capacity of 23.4 gallons which is greater than its competitors. While comparing all the statistics we can say that the Jeep Grand Cherokee offers a better fuel economy than its rivals in its class.

Interior

The 2023 Jeep Wrangler's interior embody its adventurous spirit. There are significantly more hard plastics than cushioned or padded surfaces throughout the interior, giving it a tough and industrial aspect. The entry-level model of the new Wrangler boasts a list of standard features such as drain plugs, hand-crank windows, washable floor mats, and a manual gearbox that will satisfy the customer who truly understands the appeal of this SUV.

Both the base soft top and the optional hardtop for the 2023 Jeep Wrangler can be removed rather easily. In addition, all versions include fold-down windshields and retractable doors. It might serve as a blank canvas for the numerous and varied aftermarket purchases or a basic device with just one function. However, the cabin allows a lot of wind and road noise even when it is buttoned up, which may be annoying on prolonged commutes or road trips.

Competition

2023 Jeep Wrangler vs 2022 Ford Bronco

The Ford Bronco and the Jeep Wrangler are both popular vehicles. Both of these off-road vehicles are quite competent, and they come in two- and four-door designs with detachable tops and doors.

However, if you are looking for a broader engine selection then the 2023 Jeep Wrangler, which offers V8, diesel, and hybrid choices, is one of its selling points. However, on the other hand, the 2022 Frond Bronco stands out because of its bigger standard equipment set, better on-road performance, and roomier interior and luggage capacity. The 2022 Ford Bronco still has a ways to go because the 2023 Jeep Wrangler has better off-roading statistics, affordable pricing, and better features to dominate its superiority.

2023 Jeep Wrangler vs 2022 Land Rover Defender

The 2022 Land Rover Defender offers a far more comfortable ride and pleasant interior and has superior on-road qualities than the Wrangler while being almost as powerful. Additionally, it offers leather upholstery and posh filthy wheels. However, the price of the Defender may exceed even the most costly Wrangler due to the choices mentioned above. On the other hand, the 2023 Jeep Wrangler offers slightly better mileage in comparison to the 2022 Land Rover Defender. Additionally, the off-road prowess and reliability often match most of the buyers' expectations.

2023 Jeep Wrangler vs 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee

The Jeep Grand Cherokee appears elegant and even a little more feminine than the Wrangler since it has more rounded edges and smoother lines. The Cherokee has a snub-nosed front that gives it the appearance of a sharp blade that can cut the road into ribbons. Additionally, it is more suited for families and more useful on a daily basis. On the other hand, the 2023 Jeep Wrangler features changeable roofs, doors, and windshields for a sportier appearance. It's an entirely enjoyable vehicle that excels on tough terrain and enjoys driving in the mud. It is also a price affordable option in its class.

Final Verdict

Yes, we recommend the 2023 Jeep Wrangler, as The Jeep Wrangler should be your first choice if you plan on traveling through isolated areas. The capacity of the little SUV to navigate the most difficult terrain on the globe has earned it recognition. Additionally, If you're looking for a new SUV with true off-road capability, varied power engines, potent technology features, an iconic interior, and excellent exterior features dominate the top-10 SUV making it hard to match against.
