Expert Review, Pricing Analysis and Buying Guide

For 2023, Kia totally revamped the Niro. The Niro offers improved interior and exterior design, more standard active safety technologies, and greater space for cargo and rear passengers. The new Kia Rio is available in five trim options to select from which are LX, EX, EX Touring, SX, and SX Touring, the Kia Niro price for the base trim starts at an MSRP around of $26,490 which can go up to a maximum of $34,790 with its top-tier model which includes an additional destination fee of $1,295 on every model starting MSRP price. In this segment, it will always continue to compete against the likes of the Ford Escape Hybrid, the Honda CR-V Hybrid, and the Hyundai Tucson Hybrid.

Features

The 2023 Kia Niro Hybrid is the same as its predecessor and all the trims are powered by a 1.6L 4-cylinder engine and an electric motor, a six-speed dual-clutch auto transmission will be standard, and the 2023 Niro will only be offered with FWD drivetrain. The Kia Niro generates an engine output of 139 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque, and it can complete a 0 to 60 MPH run in 8.9 seconds while it takes 17.2 seconds to complete the quarter-mile mark. With this arrangement, you can accelerate quickly from a halt, but the Sport drive mode gives you more oomph. The Niro includes a smooth-shifting six-speed automatic gearbox that maximizes the performance of the motor, the Niro Hybrid outperforms the previous model in terms of refinement and driving style on the road, and as it navigates the sweeping roadways, the hybrid seems secure and ready to move quickly. The Kia Niro SUV accelerates rather well from a standstill, but once going and with a high throttle, it may seem more powerful.

2023 Kia Niro Ride and Handling

The 2023 Kia Niro Hybrid comes equipped with MacPherson Struts, Gas shock absorbers suspension at the front, and an independent, multi-link, stabilizer bar rear suspension. The struts are a weight-bearing part of the suspension system that is made to be stronger than shock absorbers, and they not only assist in reducing jolts but also enhance steering and control of the vehicle. The rear suspension delivers the optimum balance between comfort and handling, space efficiency, and handling. Overall, the 2023 Kia Niro Hybrid handles with composure and offers a pleasant ride in most conditions, even while it doesn't seem especially sporty or dynamic. In the default Eco driving mode, the steering is adequate, but in the Sport mode, it is more accurate and responsive. Along with an adjusted steering gear ratio, the front and rear geometry has been changed to increase responsiveness, stability, and ride comfort. Despite being beautifully weighted and precise, the steering lacks a lot of road feel or input.

Interior

6.5/10

The Kia Niro's interior is given an abstract motif by its off-center dashboard, which wraps around the front occupants. Contrasting horizontal and diagonal lines, as well as ambient mood lighting with 74 various color combinations, are used to embellish this. You have the option of customizing the inside in Charcoal, Medium Gray, Petrol, or Light Warm Gray. We particularly appreciate the dashboard's asymmetrical contours and the colorful displays in front of the driver. It comes equipped with a woven cloth seat trim upholstery, dual-zone automatic control, and even the soft-touch plastic parts of the interior. You won't believe how comfortable and high-quality the textured materials and surfaces are until you walk inside the Niro, the contemporary seats have coat hangers wrapped in high-quality bio polyurethane and Tencel manufactured from eucalyptus leaves. The inside of the Niro has undoubtedly increased in size as a result of Kia's focus on passenger comfort. As we travel away from the cockpit, the dashboard's design slopes and becomes more compact, although unconventional, the two-spoke steering wheel is practical.

A lower bumper with an integrated skid plate and a rear reflector in the shape of a heartbeat contrast this to retain the vehicle's stylish yet tough appearance. Competition

2023 Kia Niro vs 2023 Ford Escape Hybrid

The Kia Niro 2023 has been revamped for the model year 2023, while the Ford Escape Hybrid gets an attractive new front end for 2023, the Kia Niro Hybrid gets better mileage and EPA rating while the EPA rating for the Ford Hybrid SUV isn’t known yet, the Kia Hybrid SUV 0 to 60 MPH acceleration is slow and poky than the Escape Hybrid. Additionally, it has been rated higher overall in terms of safety and interior, the Kia Niro Hybrid SUV also gets a handful set of driver assistance features and safety features, however, the towing capacity of the Escape Hybrid is better than Niro, and it additionally has more passenger and cargo volume, and with a hands-free communication system, selecting a winner is quite competitive so it depends on customers choice and own preferences while both these SUV are great options to select from.

2023 Kia Niro vs 2023 Honda CR-V Hybrid

The Honda CR-V Hybrid comes equipped with a big 2.0L engine which generates a much better engine output of 65hp and 52 lb-ft of torque than the Kia Niro 2023. Furthermore, it accelerates better with a 0 to 60 MPH run in 7.5 seconds and a quarter-mile mark in 16 seconds. Although, the EPA rating of the Honda CR-V Hybrid 2023 is less than the Kia Niro Hybrid, however, it compensates with a bigger fuel tank capacity of 14.0 gallons which can cover a range of 602 miles in the city better than the new Kia Niro. Additionally, it has a much better cargo capacity and bigger brake rotors manage to ensure better-stopping power, its dimensions and overall ground clearance also ensure traveling on uneven terrain is much easier, so we will recommend the 2023 Honda CR-V Hybrid over its competitor.

2023 Kia Niro vs 2023 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid

The 2023 Hyundai Tucson comes with an AWD drivetrain as standard which ensures better grip and traction so that you can accelerate better with less or even no tire slippage while the Kia Niro 2023 comes with only FWD drivetrain as standard. The new Tucson Hybrid accelerates better than all its adversaries in its competition and completes a 0 to 60 MPH run in 6.9 seconds and 15 seconds to cover the quarter-mile mark. Although the Niro Hybrid has a much better fuel economy and range in its class, the Hyundai Tucson 2023 has a much better cargo space volume compared to its rival, and it also has much better exterior dimensions and a ground clearance of 8.3 inches which ensure better visibility while driving this SUV, so we will recommend the Tucson Hybrid.

Final Verdict

Yes, we will recommend buying the new Kia Niro which has been revamped for the model year 2023, small hybrid SUVs like the Kia Niro are great for commuting and hauling around the family. When it comes to fuel efficiency and standard technology, it leads the small class. The Niro boasts a cutting-edge interior with the practicality of a hatchback. Driving isn't very exciting, but it's also not completely boring. One of Kia's smallest crossovers enters its second generation with the brand-new Niro. Hybrid power is included as standard, but the 2023 Niro Hybrid's coolest feature is its avant-garde design aesthetic, which fits in well with Kia's recent foray into funky and futuristic design. The arrangement of the cabin is modern and "fluidic." It also has several thoughtful additions, with sustainability being given first priority. And although though it has a bigger footprint, greater passenger room, and more technological amenities, the $1,800 price increase for the 2023 Kia Niro Hybrid is still fairly reasonable.
