Toyota Corolla being more expensive offers a bigger engine contributing to its better power and torque output. The 2022 Rio offers quicker acceleration than the Accent and the Versa. The top speed of the Rio is similar to the rivals in this segment.

2022 Kia Rio Ride and Handling

The 2022 Kia Rio provides a composed ride with excellent road holding capability. Unlike the old-generation Rio, the 2022 edition feels more balanced and less spongy at a higher speed. At lower speeds, the suspension feels a bit stiff but at higher speeds, the sedan remains stable and provides confidence to the driver. It's easy to maneuver city streets in the Rio, thanks to the light Electric Power-Assist Speed-Sensing Steering, but don't expect to get a lot of feedback when you're driving. There is negligible body roll to offer due to the Front Anti-Roll Bar.Additional stability features include Driveline Traction Control, Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), and Electronic Stability Control.

2022 Kia Rio Braking Performance

The 2022 Kia Rio comes with front disc brakes and rear drum brakes. Preferably, the brake pads of the Rio must be replaced after around 20,000 miles of the drive. It comes with 11 in front brake rotors and 8 inch rear brake rotors. The brake pedal is soft and responsive to the input. Even with the drum brakes, the deceleration is quick and remains in control. The sedan comes with Anti-Lock Braking System which modulates the brake pressure as soon as the tire stops rotating under intense braking.

2022 Kia Rio vs 2022 Hyundai Accent

The Kia Rio and the Hyundai Accent come with the same engine and drivetrain to offer. The sedan offers the same power output and similar torque delivery. However, the 2022 Rio provides a quicker acceleration by reaching the 60 MPH mark in lesser time than the rival. It also leads in the quarter mile timing. Furthermore, both cars offer similar fuel economy. The exterior design remains to be subjective but, to us, the Kia Rio looks more appealing with its black mesh grille. The cabin of the Rio also looks more stylish than the latter.

2022 Kia Rio vs 2022 Nissan Versa

The Nissan Versa is less expensive than the Kia Rio. It comes with a 5-speed manual transmission as opposed to the CVT with the Kia Rio. The Versa provides slightly better power output and torque delivery than the rival. On the other hand, The Rio leads in terms of acceleration with its better 0-60 MPH mark and quarter mile timing. Furthermore, the sedan is more fuel efficient than the Versa and provides a better range of travel to the customers.

2022 Kia Rio vs 2022 Toyota Corolla

The 2022 Toyota Corolla is much more expensive than the Kia Rio. For the same reason, the car comes with a bigger engine and generates better power and torque output than the Kia Rio. The 0-60 MPH mark in both sedans is covered at the same time. However, the Corolla leads by 0.1 seconds in the quarter mile timing. The Kia Rio is more fuel efficient and provides more shoulders to the occupants. It also comes with better front legroom than the Corolla.

Final Verdict

The 2022 Kia Rio is a reasonable and efficient sedan for daily commuting. The Rio comes with nimble ride and handling capabilities. The sedan comes with a decently powerful engine with CVT and FWD. Furthermore, The cabin is equipped with a user friendly infotainment system and comfortable seats. The room is apt as per the segment cars and provides adequate visibility. The IIHS has awarded the old generation Rio with excellent ratings which ensure the safety of the customers. Out of the two choices available, one must go for the S trim of the 2022 Kia Rio. The Technology Package can be considered to provide better utility and safety features.
