We Recommend

With plenty of technology and creature comforts trickling down to the base trim and the prices rising as you go up the trim ladder, we would suggest sticking to the 2023 Kia Soul S model only.

Available for sale against the likes of the Jeep Renegade, Nissan Kicks, and Toyota C-HR, even without the 1.6 turbo-4 engine, the Soul offers pretty strong performance. That said with its base 1.6L 147 hp engine, the 2023 Kia Soul MPG ratings are one of the best in the segment. The 2023 Kia Soul interior also offers spacious seating and a 24.2 cu-ft of trunk space with plenty of technology and driver safety aids.

Buying Advice

The best trim from the 2023 Kia Soul lineup remains to be the S trim. Priced at an MSRP of $23,585, Kia Soul S comes with a premium interior with top-end cloth upholstery over the seats with an integrated heating system. The trim also provides an upgrade package that elevates the feature list by including Blind-spot Collision Warning and Rear cross-traffic alert at a reasonable price.

Release Date

The 2023 Kia Soul is expected to launch by the late summer of 2022.

Engine and Performance

The car comes with a single engine type that is a 2.0-liter Inline four cylinder engine. It generates 147 horsepower and 132 lb.-ft of torque. Kia will discontinue its 201 horsepower 1.6-liter turbo engine with this release which might be a disappointment for some. The 2.0-liter engine offers a little less acceleration than most competitors, but the Soul is remarkably nimble around town. The brand provides continuously variable transmission (CVT) with a single drivetrain option. The front-wheel drive (FWD) comes as a standard, while the all-wheel drive (AWD) option is not available in the 2023 Kia Soul.

The engine ensures a composed performance. It is smooth and responsive at city speeds. The 0-60 MPH mark is covered in a decent 8 seconds. The continuously variable transmission (CVT) is not the best in the class. It selects lower gear ratios at times while overtaking.

The top speed of the car is 128 MPH which is in accordance with its segment.

The car has a massive 14.3 gallons tank that can ensure more than 414 miles on city roadsand 500 miles of ride on highways with a full tank. The car runs on an unleaded fuel of octane 87 or higher than that.
