The 2011 Kia Sportage is all-new this year, with a new look, new in-cabin technology, and a new 4-cylinder that’s standard across the board (with the single exception of the SX trim), with no V6 offered. Offered in both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive (AWD) versions, the 2011 Sportage also includes a multitude of segment firsts on its list of standard features. Moreover, Sportage makes a good choice for its low price and high value. Equipped with advanced safety and infotainment features, the 2011 Sportage features an attractive look, a refined interior, and excellent performance on all surfaces. The front-wheel-drive Sportage returns up to 22/31 mpg city/highway, which is good for the class. However, the Kia Sportage SX is more fun to drive, all thanks to its 270-horsepower turbocharged engine. The EX and SX trim levels also get some desired standard features such as Kia’s UVO infotainment system, backup warning system, push-button start, a cooling glovebox, and auto-climate control.

The new engine is more powerful and fuel-efficient than the 2010 model. This four-cylinder engine powers the base, LX, and EX examples of the Sportage, with the base only available with a six-speed manual transmission. Other trims receive a six-speed automatic as standard. LX and EX buyers may also choose between front- and all-wheel drive. Buyers who want even more power can opt for the Sportage SX which has a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine good for 260 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque. The AWD system makes Sportage capable of light offroad duties.

In straight-line performance tests, a front-drive 2011 Kia Sportage with a new base four accelerated from zero to 60 mph in 8.8 seconds, an average time for this class. The RAV4 and CR-V both get about the same mileage, achieving 24 MPG combined, respectively. There is no doubt that all the crossovers are pretty similar in fuel efficiency. Both the CR-V and RAV4 have fuel tanks of 15.3 and 15.9 gallons, which are above average, while the 2011 Subaru Forester has the largest tank with 16.9 gallons. In terms of range, the Forester outperforms other cars averaging a combined mileage of 388 miles.

In terms of space, all occupants will enjoy well-contoured seats offering adequate head- and legroom. The rear seats comfortably seat two adults, with the third needs to be a kid.

Horrible Kia experience.

Pros - Nothing good about it as it's absolutely annoying.

Cons - Crappy ride quality, false alerts.

Poor Choices. Bought a '12 Sportage for 16 grand, yeah pretty sweet deal or so I thought but I'm already considering selling it off due to its crappy ride quality and false alerts. I don't know what's with this car but whenever I drive it more than 5 miles, at least 1 thing lights up on the dash. I've recorded and showed it to the dealer but no assistance from them. It's totally not worth spendin...

Glad it didnt turn out to be a disaster

Pros - Sharp looks, Easy to use infotainment, Affordable.

Cons - Not a great suspension setup.
