Expert Review

CARHP Editorial August 13, 2019

Designed exclusively in Italy it comes with a V12 engine generating 740 hp and 560 lb-ft of torque. This mid-engined beast slots above the best-selling Huracan. The cabin resembles some sort of cockpit and there are jet fighter technology niggles here and there. Alcantara-wrapped all over it reminds you of the finest European craftsmanship.

The Multi-million dollar supercar has a pretty popular enemy from the similar region known as Ferrari and this time they have the 812 super fast. You can look also look for some British exotics like the Aston Martin Vantage DBS or the mighty Mclaren 720s.

2019 Lamborghini Aventador S Convertible Features

The Lamborghini Aventador LP-700-4 is available as a coupe or as a roadster with removable top. Both of the variants are powered by a raucous V12 powertrain which generates 730 hp and 566 lb ft of torque. Power is transferred to all the wheels via a 7 speed single-clutch automatic transmission.

We Recommend

There is only one trim available so you can benefit from Lamborghini's custom-order program and feature modern touches such as navigation and launch control. Even if they've gotten much more civilized in recent times, Lamborghinis have always had a reputation for driving like a proverbial bull in a china shop.

2019 Lamborghini Aventador S Convertible Engine

Mash the throttle in Corsa mode (its most aggressive race setting) and the 4,150-pound Lamborghini launches forward like an angry bull requiring a manual upshift each time the V12 spins to its 8,500-rpm redline. There's no wheelspin, thanks to all-wheel drive, just a roar from the aft end and Saturn V thrust-Kellybluebook

Engine and Transmission

In terms of power, the Aventador takes no chance and comes with one of the biggest and the most powerful V12 in supercar kingdom. Housed under the missile launcher styled shield, its hexagonal start/stop button fires the raucous 6.5-liter engine which produces 740 hp @ 8,400 rpm and 507 lb-ft of torque @ 5,500 rpm. The Engine comes mated to an Electronically controlled all-wheel drive Haldex(gen IV) differential with an ISR(Independent Shifting Rods)gearbox featuring 7 speeds. Power is routed to all the four wheels for better traction and instantaneous acceleration.

The engine makes the car feel like an unstoppable force, but the ISR gearbox is achingly slow when compared to other dual-clutch rivals. The irony is a poor transmission prompter Mt Lamborghini to build his own supercar. Aventador does not have much space to accommodate dual clutch equipment's in its thin transmission tunnel, between it wide as a garbage truck.

The Mclaren 720 S puts out the highest number of horsepower and torque and it is closely followed by the Aventador. The Aston Martin vanquish stays last in the rivalry with the lowest amount of power.

Acceleration

The gauge cluster shows "Thrust Mode Possible", which is Lamborghini's style of activating launch control and locks the rev limiter at 5,500 rpm for an epic start. The Aventador sprints from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.9 seconds and 124 mph in just 8.8 seconds. There is no wheel-spin because of the all-wheel-drive system and it launches forward like a raging bull topping out at 217 miles per hour.

The Mclaren is lightest among all so it the fastest among and all and closely followed Mclaren 720 S which is one-tenth of a second slower. The Aston stays last in the competition.

Ride and Handling

Lamborghini being a quintessentiallyItalian automotive comes with a thundering V12 engine which produces 740 bhp. To match the furious performance the Aventador is equipped with innovative Lamborghini Active Vehicle Dynamics (LDVA) which controls the handling characteristics. The active front steering (Lamborghini Dynamic Steering) and rear steering align the rear wheels for top-notch performance and agility. The vertical vehicle dynamics is handled by the Lamborghini Magneto-rheological suspension (LMS) which constantly reads the road and modify the suspension according to it.

The four-wheel drive system of the new Aventador S Roadster has been optimized to work specifically with all the new active systems to modulate torque splits. It transfers the torque mostly to the rear wheels for sporty feeling without compromising safety.

Every crack, bump, and pebble that perturbs the short-travel, pushrod suspension reminds you that you're driving an unapologetic brute.

Braking

Stopping the bull is another hectic task which is managed by carbon ceramic brakes (fixed calipers monoblock in aluminum) with 6 pistons in the front and four-piston in the rear. The Aventador S takes 101 feet to stop from 60 miles an hour which is exceptional. The brakes are really impressive and just a touch on the brake pedal and the car immediately slows down. It stays extremely stable even under hard braking and the inspires you all the more to push it on a track for better lap times

All of the rivals are similar in terms of braking performance and there is not much of a difference. The Mclaren have got the best performance while the Aston stays at last because of heavy curb weight.

2019 Lamborghini Aventador S Convertible Fuel Economy

If you can bear the astronomical price than fuel economy might not be an issue. As the gasoline dumps into all twelve cylinders and, the riot of internal combustion begins and makes 12 mpg combined which is still acceptable. You may get below that if wading through city traffic with occasional pops and crackles for fun.

The lower displacement and turbocharged powertrain of the Mclaren 720 S are pretty much fuel efficient when contrasted with the competition. The Aston Martin takes the second spot while the Aventador stands at last.

Yet those annoyances are forgotten once seated within the Lamborghini's cockpit. The leather aroma, even with the top removed, is intoxicating as all soft touch points are covered in exquisite natural hides- Kellybluebook

Seating and Comfort

The insides of the new Aventador S completely mirror its goal, which is, to be different from others: a supercar with state of the art technology in addition to being unimaginably lavish. The cabin is made utilizing materials of the most noteworthy quality with a wide variety of options. The style of the inside is coordinated with the incredibly trend-setting innovation, for example, the instrument board with intelligent TFT LCD show with totally updated designs, and the likelihood to improve the insides with a LED lighting framework is available on request.

Climbing inside the roadster variant is easier when compared to the coupe kin. The convertible top can be lowered on 30 miles an hour and it takes 14 seconds to roll over.

The Aston Martin Vanquish is the only one which comes with rear seats but they are only good for kids. The McLaren and Aston feel easy to go inside and out when contrasted with the Aventador.

Infotainment system

The Aventador basically get a rebranded version of the Audi's MMI infotainment system. The system gets all things done but feels a little last generation now. It's not as intuitive and the graphics are not of the best resolution. What's great is that Lamborghini has left physical buttons for the most important functions and hence you do not need to take your eyes off the road to operate the most used functions.

Cargo volume

The cargo volume of Aventador S is comical, to say the least. With 5.3 cubic feet, you'll be lucky if you are able to fit anything inside the trunk, which is at the front. Well, who cares about getting there with luggage when you can get there fast.

2019 Lamborghini Aventador S Convertible Exterior

If a 1974 Lamborghini Countach and an F-22 Raptor woke up next to each other after partying all night in Vegas, the result would be the 2017 Aventador. The sleek profile, foot-wide rear Pirelli PZero tires, upswept rear diffuser, arrow-sharp LED taillights and large-bore center exhaust are all unmistakably Lamborghini- kelly blue book

Dimension and Weight

Aventador S keeps on presenting the unquestionable Lamborghini DNA while fortifying its blend of dynamism and refinement with sharp lines motivated by nature and aeronautics. While the hexagonal design of the new tailpipes implies that the backside is as amazing as spacecraft, the front end highlights shapes that are inspired by sharks to dominate the street. Each surface of the new Aventador S has been created to pick up power and enhance performance. Contrasted with the first Aventador, truth be told, the new structure components give an expansion of 130% in front downforce, while the new side air vents diminish disturbance, enhancing cooling and expanding efficiency.

2019 Lamborghini Aventador S Convertible Safety

There is not much to say about the safety of the Aventador S or any car of the Aventador series for that matter. The Aventador has not been rated by NHSTA or IIHS. However, Lamborghini has made sure that they load the Aventador LP-750-4 SV to the brim with the safety tech to make you safe at alltimes especially with the speeds you'd be carrying in this car.

Standard safety features include:

  • Dual Front With Head Protection Chambers Side-Mounted Airbags
  • Passenger Airbag Occupant Sensing Deactivation
  • Xenon High-Intensity Discharge Headlamp
  • Remote Anti-Theft Alarm System
  • Tire Pressure Monitoring
  • Dusk Sensing Headlamps
  • Stability Control

2019 Lamborghini Aventador S Convertible Competition

Aston Martin Volante

The Aston Martin Volante follows a different approach, it tries to blend in luxury of a sedan and a speed of a supercar together. It gives you a 6.0L V-12 which generates a respectable horsepower. The top speed of this luxury sports car is 205MPH. It's not as powerful as some other cars in this competition here and isn't quite as fast either but the engine is still amazing and sound from that V12 engine is absolutely brilliant. It's not as brutal but is quite understated and subtle about its performance.

The Aventador and the DBS have very different characters. So it is up to you which car fits your need, if you want raw speed then Aventador LP-750-4 SV is the car for you. If you want a fast car that feels luxurious and doesn't miss out on creature comforts then the Aston Martin DBS is the one for you.

Mclaren 720 S spyder

The Mclaren 720 is track bred racecar with a twin turbocharged v 6 powertrain. It follows the organic design language of Mclaren inside out. The driving dynamics are better than Lamborghini and less curb weight makes it agile around corners.. The car is also extremely visually appealing but it falls just behind the new age look of the 720 s. When it comes to interiors, the quality is unmatched with clutter-free spaces that allow you to focus on driving pleasures of the vehicle.

All in all, the 720 s is a much finer track tool than the Aventador but the Lambo offers a unique experience of the naturally aspirated motor that a turbo car can never offer.

2019 Lamborghini Aventador S Convertible Final Verdict

Purchasing a Lamborghini is a decision driven by ego and greenery in your bank account. The Aventador S is the perfect mixture of art and performance and your pulse will race seeing it parked in your garage. With the addition of four-wheel steering, retuned suspension the Aventador becomes more agile and sticks to the tarmac very well. The instant celebrity status comes at a cost and the base price of $ 460,247 gives you the ability to outrun every other rival.
