The Huracan has lost its position as Lamborghini's best-selling model since the Urus debuted. But, the 2021 Huracan EVO Spyder, again set the stage for a best seller. And with the 2022 model, we can expect a machine that is a step ahead. The car is likely to retain its same powertrain which includes a 5.2L naturally aspirated V-10 motor coupled with a 7-speed DCT.

Expert Review, Pricing Analysis and Buying Guide

The rumored new hybrid motor is much anticipated but don't get your hopes up, as there is no official confirmation for that as of now. Considering some minor tweaks with its powertrain and some interior features, the 2022 Huracan EVO Spyder can be expected at a price tag of $293,000. The beast already offers a class-leading performance that one would expect from it, and will continue to deliver the same for the 2022 model.

2022 Lamborghini Huracan EVO Spyder Features

The Huracan EVO Spyder is a single trim that stands above the lower costing Huracan EVO Spyder RWD. The EVO Spyder is expected to get a price hike, but not a very drastic climb considering its class and segment. The supercar comes with a screaming, naturally aspirated 5.2 L V10 engine under the hood. The following table lists the most important features equipped in the 2022 Lamborghini Huracan EVO Spyder.

We Recommend

The 2022 Lamborghini Huracan EVO Spyder is available in AWD as well as RWD trims. The AWD model is significantly more expensive than the RWD model. But AWD does come with its own benefits including added grip and traction. However, in this case, it’s actually not about money, the choice is individual and the RWD or AWD model can be chosen according to personal interest, both being impressive machines.

2022 Lamborghini Huracan EVO Spyder Engine and Performance

The Lamborghini Huracan is undoubtedly a track monster, and the peppy powerhouse under the hood delivers enough power as required to burn the track. Considering no change under the hood, which is most likely, then the outgoing 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V-10 motor can be expected for the 2022 model year. The engine will come mated with a 7-speed DCT, ensuring the precise gear ratios with the revs. Moreover, the transmission shifts as rapidly as the engine hits the redline of 6500 rpm, and with the haptic feedback from paddle shifters, it gives a pure driving indulgence.

And the most important part is the power output. This naturally aspirated V-10 motor brings out 630 hp all the way at 8000 rpm and a massive 443 lb-ft of torque with its AWD powertrain. However, the detuned V10 in its RWD variant manages to produce 610 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of torque. As evident as it is, the Huracan EVO Spyder is an impressively built machine with immense power output on offer.

The largest motor is fitted with the Lambo, taking the second position among the four in terms of horsepower. However, it is not the quickest to cover either a 0-60 mph sprint or a quarter-mile. But with the upcoming model and the rumored hybrid motor it is expected to cover 0-60 mph in less than 3 seconds, and a quarter-mile in less than 11 seconds as well. The Porsche 911 Turbo S Cabriolet is the most powerful in the competition covering the 0-60mph run in 2.7 seconds, closely followed by the McLaren 600LT Spider.

How does the 2022 Lamborghini Huracan EVO Spyder handle?

The driving dynamics and handling are the most promising aspects of the Huracan EVO Spyder. The car features 3 drive mode selectors that are ‘Strada’ for a city drive, ‘Sport’ for enthusiastic driving, and the ‘Corsa’ is an official track mode which makes the powertrain more aggressive and changes the exhaust notes to roaring acoustics.

It prepares the suspension for better driving dynamics and cornering. The Huracan's turning radius is significantly decreased with rear-wheel steering, boosting maneuverability.

2022 Lamborghini Huracan EVO Spyder Fuel Economy

This section won’t impress you with this supercar. Moreover, every supercar with its giant thirsty motor consumes almost double the fuel consumption of some luxury sedans. With the Huracan’s naturally aspirated V10, the EPA claims 13 mpg in normal city drives and it increases to 18MPG on the highways.

However, if you are really in the mood to burn the track with its Corsa mode, then the mpg figures may get a lot worse. We can expect some refinements in the motor in 2022, which will definitely be more economical than the outgoing one to some extent. And moreover, if the hybrid powertrain makes its debut, then it will take better care of the driving range.

Though the fuel economy delivered by the Huracan EVO Spyder is just on par with the competition. It has a significantly larger tank than Porsche, while the Mclaren 600LT gives a good driving range. On the other side, the Ferrari’s engineering with the powertrain is truly meritorious.

2022 Lamborghini Huracan EVO Spyder Interior

As Lamborghini always does with every car, you can expect a variety of options to customize the interior. There are several color options available for the cabin makeover and you even get choices for the stitching colors and seat upholsteries. However, the overall looks and feel of the cabin don’t change much, and also one would not really want any alterations to it. Because the cabin still manages to look fresh, and along with the quality materials it promises a sporty stance.

The center console seems inspired by a jet cockpit with plenty of buttons on the top and some covered in red accents. The leathered bucket seats have a superior bolstering which just firmly grabs you and excites you to press the gas pedal to launch the beast. There are Leather, Alcantara, and Carbon Skin upholstery options available for the seat which can be chosen according to individual preferences. Overall the comfort levels are of a typical Lamborghini and not the most comfortable.

Passenger Capacity

Cargo Capacity (cu-ft)

All in the competition perfectly reflects their sporty interior, but the Huracan EVO Spyder somehow manages to showcase its cabin more upscale, thanks to the usage of carbon fiber elements and rich Alcantara leather in the majority of the areas. The cargo volume on offer with the Lamborghini might disappoint some buyers, but, with the supercar, the majority of buyers aren't concerned about it. Some of its standout interior features are:

  • Brushed aluminum finish paddle shifters.
  • Heated GT Sport Steering Wheel In Race-Tex.
  • Aluminum Pedals and Footrest.
  • EVO TRIM - Sportivo Leather Unicolor with bespoke stitching options.
  • Drive mode selector in the steering wheel.

2022 Lamborghini Huracan EVO Spyder: Infotainment and Connectivity

The 2022 Huracan EVO Spyder will feature an 8.4-inch Lamborghini touch screen infotainment panel which is resting at a highly inclined angle at the center console. The panel has crisp graphics and a perfect inclined angle, which contributes to enhancing ergonomics. Moreover, the steering-mounted controls for various functions added to its continuity.

The system supports multi-gesture controls, Apple CarPlay, 3D navigation with real-time traffic information, Bluetooth connectivity, radio with RDS double tuner, multimedia interfaces, and USB connections. To make your drive more entertaining, a 4-speakers surround sound system is also a part of its infotainment. With the upcoming EVO Spyder, the same infotainment panel can be expected with some minor software updates and some add-ons like Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, etc. Some of its notable infotainment features are:

  • 8.4” touch infotainment system with a variety of track telemetry and engine performance information.
  • 4-speaker surround sound system.
  • 3D navigation with real-time traffic info.
  • Bluetooth wireless phone connectivity.

2022 Lamborghini Huracan EVO Spyder Exterior

With the leaks of its exterior looks, it doesn’t seem that Lamborghini had made any notable changes in the Huracan EVO Spyder. Moreover, the exterior is one most eye-catching part of the car already, which majority of the buyers do not want any alterations in that at least for the 2022 model. One of the superiorly engineered cars is the Huracan EVO Spyder, the sloping rooflines, Viking-inspired headlamps, and the familiar profile of a Lamborghini enthralls anybody who catches a glance of it.

A lot of cuts and creases in the car with air vents in every possible place and a negligible ground clearance, all contribute to its better aerodynamics. Other standard features include electrically folding soft-top roof which can be down in 17 seconds and at speeds of up to 31 miles per hour, 19-inch alloys for RWD variant and 20-inches reserved for AWD are crafted with extremely lightweight materials, integrated slotted spoiler at the back, and a front splitter with an integrated wing.

The curb weight of Mclaren is significantly lower than the others, which might be a factor for its quicker throttle response and better fuel economy. However, the Huracan EVO Spyder is not the lightest but still manages its acceleration and economy well. And surprisingly, the Porsche is the bulkiest yet quickest. Prominent exterior features of the car include -

  • Heated exterior mirrors, electrically adjustable and foldable mirrors
  • An electrically foldable soft-top roof
  • Front hood inlets
  • Air intakes inside skirts
  • Front splitter with integrated wing
  • Integrated slotted spoiler

2022 Lamborghini Huracan EVO Spyder Safety

The Huracan Spyder also comes with the Lamborghini Dinamica Veicolo Integrata (LDVI) controlling which consists of different features including all-wheel-steering, torque vectoring, traction control, and all-wheel-drive in the AWD trim. The following are the prominent safety features included in the 2022 Huracan EVO Spyder -

  • ESC with ABS and TCS
  • Lamborghini Dinamica Veicolo Integrata (LDVI) controlling
  • All-Wheel Steering
  • Torque Vectoring
  • Carbon-ceramic brakes

2022 Lamborghini Huracan EVO Spyder Final Verdict

Your wait for the upcoming 2022 Lamborghini Huracan EVO Spyder is worth it. The car however doesn’t feature any major overhaul at least in its visible areas, but some internal tweaks can be expected like, a more refined powertrain, better infotainment, and some enhancement in its fuel economy. The hybrid powertrain is an enticing part but it is limited to rumors only.
