This year, Land Rover has added three special edition models to the Range Rover's lineup - Westminster Edition, Fifty Edition, and Black Edition. Compared to the regular models, these models offer some cosmetic upgrades, distinctive accents along with standard features. The front seats are supportive and offer superior cushioning for the passengers and driver. There's a generous amount of headroom and legroom across all rows. The SUV is also available for a base lease price of $1,279 and offers a great value for money proposition. The Range Rover competes against Lexus LX 570, Lincoln Navigator, and Maserati Levante

Comparatively, the 2021 Range Rover offers the least power from its six-cylinder engine. The 2021 Lincoln Navigator propels a whopping 450 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque. The 2021 Range Rover managed to sprint 0 to 60 mph in 7 seconds. Considering its weight and size, the acceleration is okayish, however, the rivals managed to sprint in less than 7 seconds.

How well does the 2021 Land Rover Range Rover handle?

The Land Rover Range Rover provides best-in-class ride and comfort, thanks to the air suspension that absorbs lots of bumps while driving through rough terrain. With wheel sizes of 19-inch and 20-inch, the Range Rover SUV offers a bold outlook and gets through rough pavements easily. The off-road ability of the SUV is also quite impressive compared to previous generations.

2021 Land Rover Range Rover SUV handling

The steering feels upright and offers sufficient feedback needed. The SUV feels stable while driving across the cities and the braking power is just smooth. While cruising on highways, you can feel the weight of this big SUV and there is a high chance of rollover. The cornering stability needs to be improved as the car loses grip most of the time.

2021 Land Rover Range Rover Braking Performance

The SUV gets 14.3-inch rotors on the front and 13.3-inch rotors on the rear wheels. This 4,995 pound weighing SUV offers a great braking performance with its large and ventilated rotors. The rotors tend to dissipate heat generated during aggressive braking at high speeds.

The Land Rover Range Rover comes fitted with safety aids like brake assist, ABS with EBD, an automated emergency braking system, that helps enhance the braking performance of the vehicle. Comparatively, the Lincoln Navigator offers best-in-class braking with a decent stopping distance of 125 feet. Expect the Range Rover to offer a similar braking distance, considering its size and weight.

2021 Land Rover Range Rover Fuel Economy

8.0/10

The EPA-rated fuel economy figures remain the same for the 2021 Range Rover as the previous model year. As the engine remains unaltered, expect the fuel economy to remain similar. The SUV manages to return 18 MPG in the city, 23 MPG on the highway, and 20 MPG combined. In the city, the Rover’s fuel economy is pretty decent considering its size and weight. Also, on highways, the engine returns better mileage than its counterparts.

With a 20-gallon fuel tank capacity, the Range Rover is capable of traveling up to 495 miles in the city and 632.5 miles on the highways. The Maserati Levante comes with a fuel tank capacity of 21.1 gallons, and with a full tank, the SUV goes 317 miles in the city and 443 miles on the highway. The Range Rover has literally impressed us with a larger fuel tank and driving range when compared to the rivals.

2021 Land Rover Range Rover Interior

9.9/10

The interior doesn't see many changes from the previous model year. The Land Rover Range Rover interior is spacious and offers a three-color scheme. The SUV offers multiple interiors customization options including steering wheel upholstery, headlining, and finisher. The five-seater SUV offers an impressive front row and slightly limited legroom. However, the 31.7 cubic feet cargo space is best in class.

Compared to the rivals, the Range Rovers offer an impressive cargo space. With the absence of a third row, such space was expected from the SUV. The SUV is wide enough to offer the best in-cabin space. The seats get premium cushioning that assures the best possible comfy to the driver and passengers going for a long trip. Some of the standard interior features of the 2021 Range Rover include:

  • Heated and powered seats
  • Leather upholstery
  • Heated steering wheel
  • Panoramic sunroof
  • 3-zone automatic climate control air conditioning
  • Ventilated seats
  • Front and rear armrest
  • Split rear seat

What’s there to keep you entertained?

The Land Rover Range Rover's infotainment has not seen any update in recent times. The dashboard still mounts two 10-inch touch screens that come installed with Touch Pro Duo infotainment software. One screen is just a conventional screen while the other screen consists of controls for the HVAC system. Music inside the SUV is carried out via a 13-speaker Meridian premium audio system offering good quality sound output with optimum bass.

2021 Land Rover Range Rover SUV infotainment screen

The bigger 12.3-inch screen is a high-definition Interactive Driver Display located just beside the steering wheel. This screen displays all vital information including speed, fuel range, navigation, and much more. The touchscreen is responsive but still looks dated compared to the infotainments of rival cars. Some of the infotainment features of the 2021 Range Rover are:

  • A 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system
  • Smartphone Pack with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Intelligent Voice recognition
  • SiriusXM AM/FM/HD/Satellite with seek-scan
  • Rear seat entertainment system with wireless headphones and Multi-device connectivity
  • Pro Services for Navigation and real-time traffic updates
  • Meridian Sound system
  • Multi-source rear audio controls
  • Stand-alone navigation mirroring app
  • Real-time weather display
  • Steering wheel mounted audio controls
  • Head-up display

2021 Land Rover Range Rover Exterior

9.9/10

The Land Rover Range Rover exterior reflects a bold attire with too much attention to detail. Despite having a boxy kind of design, the SUV has kept itself subtle among its competitors. The front fascia gets automatic LED headlamps with LED DRLs, a large Range Rover embossed on the hood, a grille with chrome inserts, a skid plate, and air dampers. Comparatively, the SUV is wide enough to also make enough space inside.

2021 Land Rover Range Rover SUV

Moving towards the side showcase massive 19-inch alloy wheels with five-spoke and steel accents. The side displays a bit of muscular character of the car which goes toward the rear. All the pillars are blacked-out, making the Range Rover distinctive. The LED taillamps in the ear with the chrome-lined trunk are impressive. You'll find a bold dual-exhaust setup and a rear spoiler with a shark fin antenna.

With a wheelbase of 115 inches, Range Rover offers a decent profile being a luxury SUV. However, rivals like Navigator and LX 570 offer better wheelbase at 122.2 inches and 122.2 inches, respectively. The 8.7 inches ground clearance for the Range Rover is also standard and that allows it to get through some of the difficult terrains. The rest of the job is done by the 19-inch five-spoke alloy wheels. Some of the notable exterior features of the 2021 Range Rover are:

  • Automatic LED headlights with LED DRLs
  • 19" alloy wheels
  • Optional 20", 21", and 22" alloy wheels
  • 30 exterior colors
  • Heated and powered side mirrors
  • Panoramic sunroof

  • Automatic tailgate opening

2021 Land Rover Range Rover Safety

8.0/10

The crash testing agencies are quite reluctant in testing high-end luxury vehicles. The same case is with the 2021 Range Rover. Neither the NHTSA nor the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has safety-tested the Land Rover Range Rover. We believe that the SUV would excel in the crash tests as it is offered some advanced active and passive safety features. The SUV comes loaded with some advanced safety features like a rearview camera, front and rear parking sensors, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and lane-keep assist. Some of the notable safety features are:

  • Automated Emergency Braking
  • Forward Collision Warning
  • Adaptive Cruise Control
  • Lane Departure Warning
  • Front and Rear Parking Assistance
  • Cruise Control
  • Blind Spot Monitor
  • ABS with EBD
  • Traction Control

2021 Land Rover Range Rover Competition

7.4/10

2021 Land Rover Range Rover vs. 2021 Lincoln Navigator

The 2021 Navigator is priced much lower than the $92,9000 priced Range Rover. This makes it more value for money than the Range Rover SUV. The Navigator gets some decent interior features and equipment. Also, comparing the performance of both the SUVs, the Lincoln Navigator offers a better acceleration from its twin-turbo V6 motor. However, when we talk about interior comfort and luxury, the Range Rover shines in this area. There's an array of special edition and customization options available in the Range Rover than the Lincoln Navigator.

2021 Lincoln Navigator

2021 Land Rover Range Rover vs. 2021 Lexus LX 570

The Lexus LX 570 offers better reliability ratings compared to the 2021 Range Rover. The LX 570 also comes with three-row seating, so we can expect enough space compared to the Range Rover. The Land Rover offers a more engaging drive experience and off-road ability. With an array of customization options available. The Range Rover feels like the right pick.

2021 Lexus LX 570

2021 Land Rover Range Rover vs. 2021 Maserati Levante S GranLusso

The Maserati Levante S GranLusso is priced slightly higher than the 2021 Land Rover Range Rover. The cost difference is around $1500. With its 3-0-liter Twin-turbo V6, the Maserati produces a whopping 424 horsepower along with 428 lb-ft of torque. The Maserati gets an excellent aerodynamic design and aesthetics. It also offers an impressive acceleration of 5.2 seconds while the Range Rover manages to sprint 0 to 60 mph in 7 seconds. The Maserati offers a more engaging drive dynamics while the Range Rover manages to put interior comfort and customization forward.

2021 Maserati Levante S GranLusso

2021 Land Rover Range Rover Final Verdict

9.0/10

The new Land Rover Range Rover works perfectly for family guys looking for a big luxury SUV with a bit of off-road ability. The 2021 Range Rover SUV features an array of premium equipment along with a variety of editions. Buyers get a lot of options to select and customize as per their wishes. The interior is comfy and spacious but the tech needs an immediate revamp as the infotainment might disappoint. Otherwise, the SUV is great for long trips with decent fuel economy and performance.
