The Range Rover is the perfect blend of on-road and off-road performance coupled with an artistically crafted interior made up of exquisite materials while also being extremely customizable. The 2011 Land Rover Range Rover comes mostly unchanged, but with some major additions to the features list. The Range Rover is offered in two trims namely, the base HSE and Supercharged. 2011 Land Rover Range Rover Features

9.0/10

The 2011 Land Rover Range Rover is offered in two main trims the HSE and Supercharged. Both are powered by the same 5.0 L which is as the same suggests supercharged and produces more power in the Supercharged trim. Both models come in a 4WD drivetrain and are equipped with the same 6-speed automatic transmission. Both models are extremely customizable and the interior could be trimmed and designed according to the owner’s taste and preference.

The Supercharged trim could further opt-in a more expensive, top-of-the-line Autobiography sub-trim that comes with many features including heated and ventilated reclining rear seats. This one could also be upgraded with the Autobiography Black Package that adds unique wheels and black exterior shade. The following table shows the detailed list of features and pricing of the different trims-

We Recommend

The HSE trim specced up in the desired configuration would be plenty powerful and enough for most people. Also, the thing is, the price would significantly go up after you’ve finished choosing the options and interior trim options. But as this is a segment for the super-rich, you can always opt for the more powerful Supercharged trim for more punch and power and if you also plan on driving it and need superior performance.

2011 Land Rover Range Rover Engine and Performance

8.0/10

The 2011 Land Rover Range Rover is powered by a 5.0 L V8 in all trims while it comes supercharged in the higher trim. IN the base HSE trims the engine puts out 375 hp and lb-ft of power and torque while the Supercharged trim puts out 510 hp at 6000 rpm and 461 lb-ft at 2500 rpm. Both trims come in a 4WD configuration as standard and the engine comes bundled with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The base model is plenty powerful and responsive and takes 6.4 seconds to reach 60mph which the Supercharged model can attain in 5.5 seconds which is an impressive feat of achievement for such a huge SUV. The quarter-mile is crossed by the HSE in under 15 seconds which is also an impressive time. The Range Rover can also tow more than 7,000 lbs when properly equipped and can also wade through up to 2 ft of water. The handling is also more than good considering its size and segment. The ride quality is supple and extremely comfortable and the suspension soaks up all the potholes and glides over rough patches of roads.

The Cadillac Escalade is the most powerful while the Range Rover HSE is the fastest one here. The Range Rover being the only two-row SUV here gives it an advantage over the other which results in better performance. The Range Rover also happens to be a superior handling machine among these while also excels in offroading capabilities also. Overall it is a superb option and when compared to its Supercharged trim all of the competitors are left in the dust.

2011 Land Rover Range Rover Fuel Economy

7.0/10

Despite being a powerful and fast SUV, the Range Rover provides a fuel economy that couldn’t be considered a great efficiency as this segment doesn’t come with great efficiency figures. But still, these figures are pretty good. The Range Rover puts out a fuel economy of 12 mpg in the city, 18 mpg on the highway, and a combined efficiency of 14 mpg. Along with a 27.6-gallon fuel capacity, the Range Rover can travel up to 386 miles in combined road and driving conditions.

The 2011 Cadillac Escalade surprisingly, while being the most powerful one. It also comes with the best-combined range of 390 miles. All others come with very similar mpg figures and all of them deliver a combined efficiency of 14 mpg. The Range Rover has the largest capacity fuel tank and follows the Escalade with a very slightly lower combined range.

2011 Land Rover Range Rover Interior

6.0/10

The interior of the Range Rover as mentioned earlier is extremely customizable and could be specced according to individual preferences. There is no need to specify that the interior quality is superb and everything is uber-luxurious on the inside. There is an abundance of leather, wood, and soft-touch materials everywhere inside the cabin and it is super stylish, visually stunning, and feels soft and premium to the touch. There is a lot of space on the inside and the cargo capacity is also sufficient.

The interior leather options include Blenheim or Oxford leather in the HSE trim while the interior trim choices include themes such as Burr Walnut, Black Lacquer finish, and other 7 options. Overall there is a plethora of shades, colors, themes, and options for the leather and the whole interior of the cabin to choose from. The seats are also plush and super spacious and for this year there is an option to equip reclining rear seats in the base trim which are standard in the Autobiography model.

All of the others, except the Range Rover, offer seating for seven or even eight in the Lexus. So we’ll be discussing just the front and second rows here. The Cadillac Escalade and the Mercedes-Benz GL-Class are the most spacious. The Range Rover comes with lower legroom in the front as well as the second rows compared to these ones. The Range Rover would also never have as much cargo capacity as when the opponents put down their third row. The range Rover however has the best-looking cabin and the following are its standout interior features-

  • Blenheim/Oxford Leather trim
  • Reclining rear seats
  • Full-leather headliner
  • Tri-zone automatic climate control
  • Heated leather seats
  • Heated and ventilated front seats
  • Heated steering wheel

How intuitive is the 2011 Land Rover Range Rover’s infotainment unit?

The Land Rover Range Rover is equipped with a 12-inch TFT-LCD screen in the center console. The infotainment unit is informative and easy to use while also being responsive and intuitive. As for the sound system, the standard Harman Kardon audio system could be upgraded to an optional 19-speaker 1,200-Watt LOGIC7 surround-sound system from the same brand. The following are the Range Rover’s prominent infotainment features-

  • 12-inch TFT-LCD virtual instrument panel
  • 720-Watt Harman/Kardon LOGIC7 audio system
  • Six-disc DVD changer
  • HD Radio
  • Rear-seat entertainment system

2011 Land Rover Range Rover Exterior

8.0/10

The 2011 Land Rover Range Rover has a distinct look that is boxy but still is very much updated and good-looking. The front-end looks bold and executive and it clearly shows that it means business. The Range Rover is offered in ten exterior color choices of various finishes. There are also plenty of wheel options to choose from while the HSE trim comes with 19-inch 7-spoke alloys as standard and the Supercharged trim gets 20 Inch 10-spoke alloys.

The Range Rover is also available with plenty of customization options to choose from including a trailer hitch kit and an expedition roof rack. The Range Rover also comes with a higher ground clearance of 9.1 inches which translates to better offroading abilities. The 2011 Range Rover is equipped with adaptive air suspension which could be raised according to the road condition and this also enables the Rover to cross water up to 27.6 inches high.

The Range Rover also has the best ground clearance, closely followed by the Escalade and Lexus. The Range Rover and the Mercedes are the better-looking ones here while The Mercedes is also the lightest. The following are the 2011 Land Rover Range Rover’s standout exterior features-

2011 Land Rover Range Rover Safety

6.0/10

Being a super expensive, flagship luxury SUV, the range is surely equipped with a lot of safety features. And for being the same, it also has not been crash or safety tested by any of the agencies. However, it is sure that the high-tech safety and driver assistance tech incorporated into it is capable enough to keep all the occupants safe in all conditions. The following are some of those features-

  • Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
  • Forward Alert and Emergency Brake Assist (EBA)
  • Sand Launch Control

2011 Land Rover Range Rover Final Verdict

The Land Rover Range Rover is everything you could expect from an uber-luxurious, premium, and customizable SUV. It has a powerful base engine and a blazingly capable supercharged version of the same engine in the higher trim. The Range Rover performs impressively while also handling well on the road.
