Land Rover, a name synonym with Luxury and Off-Road prowess in the world of Automobiles, has introduced a refreshed version of its popular flagship SUV- The Range Rover. It has been a popular choice among people who seek the best in British luxury and can't compromise on the same.  Available in both standard and long-wheelbase versions, the 2020 Range Rover comes with multiple engine options and is split across 4 trims- Range Rover, HSE, Supercharged, and Autobiography. Prices for the 2020 Land Rover Range Rover begin from $89,500 and go all the way up to $149,500.

It further comes with top-notch luxury and comfort with fine dimensions on the inside. The infotainment system is surely sophisticated and may not come off as very user-friendly. However, the off-roading capabilities are also a question here, given its ground clearance. The rivals it faces in the competition are the 2020 Lexus LX 570,  the 2020 Toyota Land Cruiser, and the 2020 Maserati Levante S

Noisy SUV with subpar trunk space

Pros - Excellent off-road ability, wealthy interior and exterior looks and a lot of rear legroom space.

Cons - Subpar cargo space, frustrating infotainment system, and large wheels can bring vibration and noise into the cabin at highway speeds

Exasperating and inferior SUV I have never seen a vehicle with such an irritating entertainment system. From the beginning, the infotainment system of my Range Rover has been off. There’s been some random warning lights, the radio is always at the top volume when I play it, the screens are off most of the time, and the interface is sluggish. It's already been in the service centre twice. Everytime I pay around $50 to upgrade my software. Also I don't understand how the trunk space of an SUV can be so small. At highway speeds the huge wheels bring vibration and noise into the cabin. The only good things about the Range Rover is the interior and exterior looks, spacious legroom and surprisingly good off...

an all terrain SUV

Pros - Lavish and high quality interior, excellent handling, dynamic off-road capabilities and a powerful engine.

Cons - Subpar cargo space and noisy cabin at highway speeds

solid and powerful luxury midsize SUV Let me begin by saying that I adore my Range Rover. It's a fantastic car, and I love the driving position. Few cars can equal the 2017 Range Rover's elegance and performance on the road; even fewer can keep up when the road stops.Inside, it's brimming with sumptuous materials and cutting-edge technology that's fairly easy to operate. In two rows of seats, passenger space and comfort are great. Although while going on weekend excursions I always crave for more cargo space and while cruising at highway speeds the noise inside the vehicle becomes evident. However, the easy performance is made possible by a strong V8 engine, a sophisticated all-wheel-drive system, and...

Handsome and well built luxury SUV

Pros - Sharp handling, spectacular interior design, magnificent exterior looks, and remarkable off-road ability.

Cons - Less cargo space, choppy ride quality and heavy steering effort at highway speeds can get tiresome.

Comfortable and capable off-roading SUV Over the past few years my 2014 Range Rover has served us quite well. It, according to me, is at the pinnacle of the lux-u-vee food chain. It's lavishly appointed for a modern luxury SUV and is quite capable off-road as well. The steering is light and precise at low speeds which allows for easy maneuvering around town, but it becomes somewhat heavy at highway speeds, and the suspension makes the highway ride choppy. Apart from these minor flaws this vehicle has been a very dependable daily commuter for me. Service is simple to arrange. The staff is quite kind and helpful. They will not try to offer you a service that you do not need at the moment. The work ...

The HSE trim offers a lot of premium features when compared to its higher trims and runs on a frugal power train as well. So, considering this in mid, the HSE trim makes the most sense, unless you are really keen on buying a powerful version of the Range Rover.

Irrespective of the engine choice, the power delivery is smooth and linear and packs enough punch and grunt at all times. Speaking of transmission, these are taken care of by a superb 8 Speed Unit that offers buttery smooth shifts on all occasions.

Throwing light on the competition, we find that the Maserati Levante S delivers the most power out of its given rivals. The Other 3 SUV 2020s in this list are packed at a dead heat and are separated in the torque department, where the Lexus has a slight edge over its sibling, the Land Cruiser.

Acceleration of the 2020 Land Rover Range Rover

With the power from a 3.0L Supercharged Unit, the 2020 land Rover Range Rover manages to do the 0-60MPH dash in just 7 seconds and the quarter-mile run in 13.9 seconds. In the real world, this translates to easy overtakes on both the motorways and on the city roads as well. The 8-speed transmission makes linear power delivery and commuting through the city, a breeze.

As expected, the Sporty Maserati makes a mockery of the others in terms of the acceleration runs and demolishes the times of its rivals by a hefty margin. The Land Cruiser takes the 2nd Spot in terms of 0-60 MPH run and the land Rover comes in a close 3rd. The Lexus has to suffice with the 3rd spot overall

Ride and Handling of the 2020 Land Rover Range Rover

The Range Rover is one of the most - if not the most - fantastic and capable off-road vehicles on the market. It handles beautifully while steering with such ease and comfort. The suspension doesn't feel too stiff nor too soft, yet balanced enough to provide a comfortable ride.

2020 Range Rover

Maneuverable and secure - two words which fit best when describing the Rover's steering capability. While off-road, the car is rock solid while maintaining a good comfort level for the passengers. Handling takes a hit only when taking sudden, twisty turns, but otherwise, the car is behaving well and feels sturdy.

Braking of the 2020 Land Rover Range Rover

Carrying a massive weight of nearly 5000 pounds on its back, the brakes on the Range Rover have to be of top grade, to bring this machine to halt quickly. The 14.3 inch and 13.8-inch rotors on the range rover offer the same kind of performance and manage to bring the Rangey to a stop from 60MPH in just 124ft.

2020 Land Rover Range Rover

In addition to the massive rotors, you also get emergency braking and an adaptive speed limiter that adjusts the speed as per the zone, the vehicle is being driven in.

8.0/10

"Of the Range Rover's three gasoline powertrains, only one approaches genuine efficiency, and that's the diesel." - Car and Driver

The Rand Rover gives a decent fuel economy when compared to the competition. In fact, it pretty much takes the crown. It is only nearly-bested by the Lincoln Navigator, however, we have not considered it competition for various other reasons of comparison.

In comparison with the competition, it is the 2020 Land Cruiser that accommodates 8 individuals and all the other contenders provide only for 5. With regard to the passenger seat dimensions, The Land Rover Range Rover 2020 model delivers the best headroom while the Lexus LX 570 and The Land Cruiser have better shoulder space and legroom. This stands true even for the second row of seats. The interior dimensions of the 2020 Maserati Levante aren't available.

Infotainment System of the 2020 Land Rover Range Rover

2020 Land rover range rover Side View

The Range Rover seems like it has decent measurement for an off-road SUV yet the ground clearance does not look like it can take off-road that easily. While one will still have to be careful about swerving into those marshy lands, one would suggest sticking to the tarmac with this one.

2020 Land Rover Range Rover Competition

2020 Land Rover Range Rover vs. 2020 Lexus LX 570

The Lexus has comfortable seating, posh interiors, much bigger cargo volume, more passenger seating capacity, 3-row seating, great off-road. But it suffers in fuel economy, a bit expensive starting model, average acceleration, and equipment. The Lexus is a great alternative to the Range Rover, but if shelling out a couple more grand does not seem to be a concern, the Range Rover is much better on the higher and successive trims.

2020 Lexus LX570

2020 Land Rover Range Rover vs. 2020 Toyota Land Cruiser

The Land Cruiser offers a 3-row configuration and can seat 8 passengers as well while offering a much better boot space. Whats better is the fact that its cheaper than the range rover by some margin. The Japanese SUV does seem like an excellent alternative to the Range Rover but when it comes to sheer brand value and levels of refinement of luxury, the Range Rover is a class on its own and justifies its premium.

2020 Toyota Land Cruiser

2020 Land Rover Range Rover vs. 2020 Maserati Levante S

While the Levante was touted by Maserati as a Performance SUV, the Levante didn't exactly lack the luxury one associates from a Maserati. It beats the Land Rover hands down in the performance department and comes loaded with a whole set of tech inside. But, a person seeking a Luxury SUV will surely be disappointed by some of the Materials used inside the Maserati. The Range Rover leaves no stone unturned in offering the perfect blend of comfort, luxury, and performance and which is why it's the one to go amongst the 2.

2020 Maserati Levante S

2020 Land Rover Range Rover Final Verdict

For a starting price of nearly $90,000, the Range Rover seems to be quite an expensive proposition. But considering the variety of engines on offer, luxury quotient, and the unmatched off-road ability and comfort on offer, the Range Rover justifies this price. With the addition of some nifty tech features like Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and driver assistance features, the 2020 Land Rover Range Rover is one of the few SUVs in the market that will take you to unexplored places but inside a royal and luxurious cocoon.
