Detailed Review

The Range Rover Evoque is definitely a head turner, its handsome proportions and detailing make it arguably the most ultra-modern member of Land Rover fleet. It offers off-road ability which you expect from the legendary British name.

The 2.0 liter turbocharged engine produces ample amount of horsepower which is mated to 9-speed automatic transmission. The cabin is highly practical which is composed of high quality material. Rear seats are cramped due to the sloped roof. Ride quality is serene with enjoyable driving dynamics.

The base variant hits the sweet spot as the engine is same all over the lineup. The base variant is found to be having almost all the latest advancement of an SUV so far.

2019 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Engine

8.1/10

"In sharp contrast to the traditional Land Rover look, the 2019 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque offers buyers all the luxury and off-road ability expected of a vehicle carrying the legendary British name, but in an SUV that is sleek, low and sporty. With standard all-wheel-drive, the Evoque has several characteristics that set it apart from the competition." - Autotrader

Engine and Transmission

The 2019 Land Rover Evoque comes with two turbocharged engines, the base 2.0-liter-four-cylinder generates 237 horsepower @ 5500 rpm and 251 lb-ft of torque. On select editions, you can upgrade to a 286-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder for $3,000 more.

Most drivers will find the base four-cylinder engine to be more than adequate. Each comes with a nine-speed transmission that can struggle to find the right gear. Using the standard paddle shifters makes the transmission more responsive though.

The Evoque comes with all-wheel drive, and a 9-speed CVT modulates power from the turbo-4 to the wheels. The transmission’s a no-fuss operator, more kindly programmed than the other ZF 9-speed automatics we’ve sampled, better at smoothing over shifts and deciding which gear should come next.

When compared with the competitors, the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque and Volvo XC40 have high power output. Though the others are priced lesser than the Evoque, they do not meet the Evoque in terms of driving dynamics. The Jaguar F pace is also a good alternative in terms of output.

Acceleration

The Range Rover Evoque accelerates enthusiastically with a little turbo lag. With its higher output turbo engine, it sprints from 0 to 60 in just 6.0 seconds. Both of the powertrains feels unrefined during hard acceleration and there is a lot of cabin noise. The base engine of the Evoque can take you to 60 miles an hour in 7.0 seconds. The car covers quarter mile at 13.2 seconds with a top speed of 144 mph.

The Land Rover and Volvo XC40 go neck to neck when it comes to 0 to 60 runs, followed by Jaguar E-Pace. The Cadillac XT 4 stays last in the rivalry.

Ride and Handling

The Range Rover Evoque is athletic on road than most of its bigger cousins. The steering is responsive with a sturdy chassis. It requires more inputs from the drivers to change directions than most of its rivals. Because of its DNA, the Evoque’s suspension is tuned for rough tarmac, but it maintains composure on curvy roads and highways without feeling too stiff. Though many will feel the ride is firm as it road imperfections are readily known to all occupants.

The Evoque is a capable off-roading SUV. It comes standard with four-wheel drive, hill descent control, and All-Terrain Progress Control, which is like a low-speed cruise-control system for off-roading. You can adjust the Terrain Response settings to match your landscape, with General Driving, Grass/Gravel/Snow, Mud and Ruts, and Sand modes.

Braking

The Evoque is equipped with high performance brakes and provide acceptable stopping power. The pedal is soft initially and it gradually firms up the harder you press. It is easy to modulate around town and on corners.

Seating and Comfort

With the Range Rover Evoque, you won't need to forfeit a comfortable cabin to have a competent 4x4 vehicle. Grained leather seats, soft-touch doors and trim, and brush aluminum are among its highlights.

Inside, the Evoque has a swanky and well-laid interior which is much inspired by Discovery. The front leather seats are comfortable with ample bolstering, it is12-way power adjustable to set the perfect traveling position. Rear seating quarters are cramped, though that's common for a compact crossover. Many of the individuals who owns the Evoque complain about a noisy cabin.

2019 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Exterior

The emphasis on style brings about a few sacrifices in traditional SUV traits. Its storage space and visibility fall on the smaller side of the spectrum, and its interior is more difficult to climb in and out of - doubly true for the convertible. Still, the Evoque remains a Land Rover, and it comes with the brand's off-road tech, including low-speed cruise control. It isn't the design alone that makes the Evoque a unique offering. Though it's the size of a subcompact, the Evoque's price falls closer to that of a bigger luxury SUV, so direct comparisons are tricky. But if you find the look and feel appealing, comparisons against the Evoque won't be necessary -Edmunds

Dimension and Weight

The 2019 Evoque looks very flashy and takes design cues from the bigger kin Velar. Unique colors, stylish wheels, optional two-tone paint jobs, and a long list of accessories make the Evoque highly customizable.

The front and rear fascia are inspired from Velar with chiseled side proportions and raked roof structure. The grille has been shrunken and the air vents are enlarged. Evoque maintains a graceful appearance with a squarer front and boxier jaw that matches with premium models.

2019 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Competition

Volvo XC40

Like the Evoque, the Volvo XC40 is a subcompact crossover that prioritizes style over passenger comfort. The rear seats won't have much room for passengers, yet drivers will value the XC40's brisk acceleration, comfortable ride, and exceptional interior design. It's base cost is many dollars less than the likewise equipped Evoque. The off-road performance is better with Range Rover than in the

Jaguar E- Pace

The E pace is powered by a turbocharged inline four which puts out 250 hp and mated to an efficient 9 speed- automatic transmission. The off-road performance is definitely better in Range Rover Evoque. The Jaguar is also smaller in size and comes with cramped rear seats.

Cadillac XT4 SUV

As a compact luxury crossover, the Cadillac XT4 is produced by 2.0 liter inline 4 which produces 237 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. It takes 7.0 seconds to sprint from 0 to 60 mph. The new nine speed transmission shifts smoothly and provides a wide power band. In terms of overall performance, the Evoque does have an edge.

2019 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Final Verdict

The Range Rover Evoque is intended to lure younger buyers who can’t opt for a pricey Range Rover Sport It is stylish yet pretty capable off the beaten path, following its family tradition. With a starting price of just under $43,000, the Evoque may very well be the best-looking bargain in the Land Rover fleet.
