The premium subcompact SUV market is dominated by the major luxury brands and from the house of Land Rovers, we have the Range Rover Evoque. This SUV is undoubtedly one of the best-looking vehicles out there and apart from looks, the Evoque is also said to be a dependable car, and the 2018 Range Rover Evoque has just 2 recalls and a tiny 8 complaints registered. Surviving in this segment isn’t all that easy as the Evoque is headed up against the Audi Q5, the BMW X3, and the Mercedes-Benz GLC 300. The Range Rover Evoque comes standard with an AWD system which makes sure that the SUV stays planted on the tarmac.

User complaints and problems

Electrical Problems

  • Digital meter – The odometer and the speedometer readings were inaccurate due to a software glitch.

Mechanical Problems

  • Engine – The engine cooling fans get loud and even if the engine temperature is at the ideal level, the fan doesn’t turn off. The engine also failed to respond when the acceleration was applied and the car felt like it was in neutral.
  • Fuel system – Uneven distribution of fuel was found which affected the performance of the car making it hesitate to accelerate.
  • Powertrain – The check engine light was reported to flash randomly. Also, the transmission dial got stuck making the car undrivable. The dealers tried to update a particular software but that didn’t help solve the issue.

Exterior Problems

  • Liftgate – The electronic liftgate shuts on its own at times and has managed to hit the back of people when they were trying to load cargo into the trunk.

Should you buy the 2018 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque?

At $42,795, the Range Rover Evoque sits in the same ballpark as its competitors, and since it’s a premium subcompact SUV, the cabin looks and feels well put together. The list of features that comes with the Evoque makes it worth the price you pay and since it’s from Land Rover, they also made sure the Evoque can handle some dirt and off-road making this a very robust and practical vehicle. The only worthy completion we see for the Evoque is the Audi Q5 as it’s priced almost as same as the Evoque but offers a larger cabin with a more powerful engine. If the extra space doesn’t make a difference to you and you want a great-looking car, the Evoque wouldn’t disappoint.
