Overall Rating

Starting with a price of around $50,895, the 2018 Lexus GS350 Sedan is definitely the cheapest out of this lot, and along with that it offers an insanely high 3.5-liter engine, while all the other three are at 2.0 liter. This feature alone is a big plus for this car.

2018 Lexus GS 350 Features

8.9/10

The 2018 Lexus GS 350 Sedan offers just a single trim currently. It is an all-wheel drive with the 3.5-liter V-6 engine which provides an 8-speed automatic transmission as standard.

The game changer for this variant has to be the engine and the massive power it produces, putting all other competitors to shame.

There is not much to choose here as there is just a single trim currently. However, this trim does provide an upscale sedan experience and is definitely recommended.

2018 Lexus GS 350 Engine

8.1/10

The 2018 Lexus GS 350 Sedan is powered by a 3.5 Liter v-6 Engine which produces a massive 311 hp of power at 6400 rpm and 280 lb.-ft of torque at 4800 rpm, which provides all wheel drive with an 8 speed automatic transmission as standard.

Honestly, the Lexus is head and shoulder above the rest under this parameter. A difference of 1.5 liters in the engine capacity, and that too with the top dogs in this category is no joke. Along with this engine comes massive power outputs too, which again is the best in class.

Acceleration

The Lexus is never known for its fast acceleration. However, the engine difference does wonders here. The Lexus takes 5.5 seconds to cover 60 mph and 14 sec to cover the quarter mile. Easily the best in this segment.

All the other three are way behind the Lexus, with the BMW in at second with 6 seconds, while the Cadillac is a little behind at 6.3. The Audi is thereabout too.

The Quarter mile column follows a similar pattern among the three, with the BMW leading the way and followed by the Cadillac and the Audi.

Handling and Steering

If you compare the ride quality of this mid-level sedan with a top level one, this one might feel a bit ordinary. However, it does most things right even now. The handling is smooth and the ride quality is impeccable too.

The suspension is very smooth, which leads to ride quality that can be very well compared to that of an Audi or BMW. The all-weather tires too offer a magnificent grip in wet conditions too. It is also very agile around the corners and smooth on the highways.

Braking

The 2018 Lexus GS 350 Sedan braking figures again are unmatchable, in proportion to its acceleration. With 109 feet to stop from 60 mph, it its easily one of the best again.

The BMW is the one with the best figures here, however the lexus is not too far off either. The Audi is a little too off the radar here too, while the figures for the Cadillac are not yet known.

2018 Lexus GS 350 Fuel Economy

7.2/10

The 2018 Lexus GS 350 Sedan gives a mileage of 20 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. With a combined mpg of 23, it is fair to say, these figures are just about the worst in this category.

Having said this, one must look at the other as well as they are not too far off either. The Audi, for a change is the best here with 28 mpg combined, while the BMW and the Cadillac are very symmetrically placed between the Lexus and the Audi.

2018 Lexus GS 350 Interior

7.3/10

The 2018 Lexus GS 350 is a classy mid-level sedan which accommodates 5 people. It provides heated and cooled seating as well. The passenger rear seats are also electrically powered. They are very comfortable, especially for the long rides.

The seats are made of premium leather upholstery and offers an electronic seat movement system as well. The dash too has been very well laid out and completely complements the interiors in every regard.

Interior Features

The interior features include:

  • 12 -way power driver seat
  • 8 -way power passenger seat
  • Bucket front seats
  • Driver seat thigh extension
  • Height adjustable driver seat
  • Height adjustable passenger seat

Infotainment

The infotainment system in the Lexus GS 350is definitely easy on the eye and easy to use too. The interface is interesting and the speaker volume is magnificent as well. One glaring problem is there that the system is not touch screen, but has buttons, which is good but feels old fashioned.

However, it does have the basic features like:

  • 12 total speakers
  • 3 Months of provided satellite radio service
  • DVD player
  • USB connection
  • Adjustable speed sensitive volume control
  • Auxiliary audio input and USB with external media control
  • Satellite radio satellite radio
  • Surround audio surround audio (discrete)
  • Video monitor
  • AM/FM stereo

Cargo

The 2017 Lexus GS 350 doesn't boast of the best trunk in this segment. It is not even close to the best. It can be called average at best. However, the trunk of the Lexus can easily hold a few duffle bags among others. It has a wide opening with a flat surface, although with a little hump, which is about okay for inserting and removing those heavy bags.

The BMW seals its domination here with 18.7 ft of space on the inside. The Lexus though place second is a long way off while the Audi and the Cadillac gives figures lower than the GS 350.

2018 Lexus GS 350 Exterior

8.1/10

The 2018 Lexus GS 350 Sedan is definitely one of the heaviest car in this segment. The dimensions of the Gs 350 too clearly show the amount of space available on the inside.

The tall muscular built adds up to its advantage as well, which seems pretty confident for highway driving. The ground clearance showcases this facet as well. At 5.1 inches above the ground, this car is decent in this regard too.

2018 Lexus GS 350 Competition

BMW 530i

The Lexus does have a better engine, although the power outputs are still comparable. The Lexus has better space and comfort on the inside as well. The fuel economy and handling can be called at par, while the BMW does have a bigger trunk.

However, with a better engine and space on the inside, that too at a lower price and the Lexus is the definite winner in this comparison.

Audi A6

The comparison with the Audi follows the similar lines with that of the BMW. The Lexus does have a bigger engine, and a better acceleration too. The space on the inside is greater too. However, the Audi does have its trademark comfort to boast off.

Still, a lower priced and better engine possessing Lexus GS 350 is the winner here.

Cadillac CTS

The Lexus easily owns this comparison. The engine output, acceleration, braking, space on the inside, everything is way better in the GS 350. The handling and ride quality is too good too. The Cadillac does have a minutely better fuel economy though.

However, the Lexus GS 350 is the deserved winner here, that too by a mile.

2018 Lexus GS 350 Final Verdict

The 2018 Lexus GS350 Sedan is definitely a talented multi featured car which truly owns this mid-level sedan segment. It has got a great engine, with a great power generation and a stylish exterior. The ride quality and handling are very smooth too. The price at which it comes is a definite plus too.

All these makes this Lexus easily score a lot of points over the much more famous Audi A6 and the BMW 530i, although they have their own advantages too.

However, the price range at which it comes, with the features on offer does make the Lexus GS 350 the pick of this segment.
