The luxury midsize SUV class is filled with good lineups from European and American brands. However, the luxury department of the Japanese brand, Toyota isn't far behind either. The Lexus RX 350 has stayed relevant in the class for quite some time now. Even though the current generation has been on sale for quite some time, without much changes to the design, interior, or powertrain, the RX 350 has been cutting it through with its high-quality interiors and the price to feature ratio.

Expert Review, Pricing Analysis and Buying Guide

However, if you expect the 2022 Lexus RX 350 F Sport to bring a change to the existing one, then you might be mistaken. However, the manufacturer is hinting towards a redesign in the 2023 model year, which is desperately needed, but today we’re going to discuss the carry-over model for 2022.

Not a lot of changes are expected for the 2022 model year RX 305 F Sport and will come with the decently powerful V6 powertrain, which is sufficient but is not as fun as the competitors. Speaking of competitors, the 2022 Lexus RX 350 F Sport faces stiff competition from rivals like BMW X3, Audi Q5, and the Volvo XC60. Let's see if the Lexus RX 350 F Sport can still compete against the more modern midsize SUV from European brands or not.

2022 Lexus RX 350 F Sport SUV Features

The RX lineup from the Lexus is basically offered in two trims, RX 350 and RX 450h. Again both these variants come in a sport version called the F Sport. The 2022 Lexus RX 350 F Sport will be available in single trim level with customizable feature packages. It comes equipped with a pool of features such as enhanced seats, adaptive suspension, etc.

2022 Lexus RX 350 F Sport SUV Engine and Performance

As mentioned earlier in the article, the 2022 Lexus RX 350 F Sport is going to be a carryover model without any changes, we expect the powertrain to be the same 3.5L naturally aspirated V6 cranking out 295 HP at 268 lb-ft of torque. The engine isn't as efficient but has a composed performance overall.

We can’t say that you’ll particularly enjoy the ride because of the snazziness of the engine, but it isn't too bad either. The engine comes mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission which drives the power to the front wheels (FWD) but there is also an AWD trim available.

Moving on to acceleration, the 2022 Lexus RX 350 F Sport is expected to sprint from 0 to 60 MPH in about 6.1 seconds, which is decent but is not as quick as its competitors. However, agility isn't what this car is known for.

The best driving experience is felt when the car cruises over a quiet road and blends into the scene because that’s the kind of demographic this car targets. Overall, the 2022 RX 350 F will have nothing too special underneath, but there has been talk about a turbocharged trim of the V6 debuting in this model year. But there has been no confirmation whatsoever.

As apparent from the table, the 2022 RX 350 F Sport isn't supposed to be the fastest in the class, but it performs better than the regular trim. Speaking of the fastest, the Audi Q5 beats the Bimmer by a margin and stands tall as the quickest car in the class.

How well does the 2022 Lexus RX 350 F Sport handle?

The driving experience is one of the better qualities of this vehicle. On top of electronic stability control and traction control, the car comes with Adaptive Variable Suspension, which absorbs most of the irregularities of the road to give you the comfort you’re looking for.

Also, it reduces the lean of the car when it drives into curves, which is great as it reduces the chances of rollovers or tire screeches. Overall, the ride is comfortable and composed as well.

Also, the ground clearance of the 2022 Lexus RX 350 F Sport is 8.2 inches, which is a lot to avoid rough terrains. However, don't expect it to give you a nice off-roading experience as well because it isn't designed to prioritize that either.

2022 Lexus RX 350 F Sport SUV Fuel Economy

Fuel economy isn't one of the strong suits of the 2022 Lexus RX 350 F Sport. This is because the V6 underneath the hood consumes a lot of fuel pretty quickly. The naturally aspirated one does give you the power, but the only downside is that it reduces the fuel economy drastically.

Speaking of numbers, the 2022 Lexus RX 350 F Sport is expected to deliver an average MPG of 20 in the suburbs, 27 on the highway, and 23 combined. This is not a lot to work with, but is at par with the competitors.

On top of that, it will come with a 19.2-gallon fuel tank which gets you a max range of 518 miles on the highway. Looking at the big picture, for the kind of performance you get, the fuel economy is not that bad.

As compared to the competition, the 2022 Lexus RX 350 F Sport is expected to be at par with the competitors. The MPG ratings reveal that the Volvo XC60 is the most fuel-efficient in the class, with a combined rating of 26.

2022 Lexus RX 350 F Sport SUV Interior

The interiors are expected to see quite the change. The current design looks premium and classy enough to interest buyers. With a leather-covered cabin, the Lexus RX 350 F Sport has always felt like a luxurious vehicle, and with the convenience feature on the option, the overall appeal of the cabin increases.

There has been no information regarding the updates, but we do expect a redesigned dashboard. Most of the materials used inside the cabin is going to remain the same as it is high quality and is appreciated by the consumers as well. With the wooden elements on the steering wheel and metal accents on the dashboard, the design seems to be aesthetic.

Moving on to comfort, the seating arrangement is nice and hence it doesn't feel cramped at all. With an upright seating position and great padding, your back is well rested on quality leather-wrapped foam. Also, the bolstering is done to keep you feeling snuggly enough. The seats are power-adjustable in the front row and the rear row features a bench.

The interior also houses great comfort features like automatic temperature control, heated steering and seating (optional), soft-touch material on the board and the dash, and much more. The interiors are premium to experience and seem well worth the price. However, we cannot comment on any changes as the manufacturer hasn’t revealed any details yet. But even if it’s a complete carryover, the interiors are always appreciated by Lexus owners.

*speculated specs

The front and the rear legroom in the 2022 Lexus RX 350 F Sport is greater than that present in the competition, which is what makes this vehicle comfortable in the long run. However, it is not the largest, as the BMW X3 has that title as of now, with its humongous cabin. Speaking of cargo capacity, this SUV comes with a decent boot volume of 18.4 cubic feet, which is not the best in the class, but is decent enough.

2022 Lexus RX 350 F Sport: Infotainment and Connectivity

The infotainment system present in this vehicle is high quality and also high functionality. With the standard 8-inch touchscreen display, you can control most of the car’s functions. However, you can also opt for a bigger screen of 12.3 inches which is better in terms of overall utility. The physical buttons on the side help the driver regulate volume and related features, without distracting from the drive.

There is a Mark Levinson sound system on offer, which is great in terms of Audio quality and higher decibels. Overall, the 2022 Lexus RX 350 F Sport isn't planning to change a lot in the infotainment front, but it is going to introduce some touch-ups. We expect the following to be the standard infotainment features:

  • Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration
  • 8-inch touch screen display
  • 15-speaker Mark Levinson Audio
  • Amazon Alexa capabilities
  • Vice command feature
  • 6 USB ports
  • Bluetooth connectivity
  • SiriusXM satellite radio

With aggressive body lines and edgy design, the new Lexus RX 350 F Sport is also going to feature great exterior dimensions, which add utility to appearance. As compared to the competitors, the Lexus RX 350 F Sport is one of the best-looking vehicles, and this is going to be the case with the 2022 model year as well.
