Detailed Review

MKC SUV is probably the best effort that Lincoln has put up until now. 2017 Lincoln MKC SUV comes with a variety of engine options, quality ride offering, and intuitive tech features. Undesired traits of the ride include an unimpressive fuel economy and least-in-league trunk capacity.

MKC receives a run for money from Audi Q5 Premium, Buick Envision, and Volvo XC60 T5 Inscription. Each of its rivals, however, comes with a costlier starting price. Pricing options for the 2017 Lincoln MKC start from $32,720. The ride outshines its class rivals in terms of technology, a number of engine options, and a pocket-friendly price-tag.

2017 Lincoln MKC Engine

7.6/10

The 2017 MKC's base 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine packs a suitable amount of punch. The engine and transmission are responsive, and this helps make the MKC feel quicker than its bottom-of-the-pack acceleration numbers would indicate -Edmunds

Engine and Transmission

The 2017 iteration of the Lincoln MKC comes with a 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. It is capable of generating 240 hp of power and 270 lb.-ft. of torque. For gear-shifting, the ride relies on a 6-speed automatic transmission mode. Buick Envision delivers the least horsepower and torque of 197 hp and 192 lb.-ft., respectively.

Ride and Handling

The 2.0L 4-cylinder engine is capable of providing a formidable performance. In addition to the engine, the transmission is responsive. However, the ride lacks a fine-tuning of gas and brake pedals. Braking power is not impressive. Disregard of the speed you pull the brakes, a jumpy feeling is inevitable.

Nonetheless, 2017 Lincoln MKC SUV is a luxury crossover with a comfortable ride. Thanks to a standard active noise-cancellation system, the cabin is completely soundproof. Long journeys are enjoyable with the MKC SUV. The experience can be further enhanced via the optional CCD adaptive suspension dampers. All in all, MKC SUV prioritizes comfort over performance.

Braking

The 2017 Lincoln MKC SUV flaunts biggest brakes in the competition. MKC's front and rear brake measure 13.2 and 12.4 inches, respectively. However, bigger isn't always better. That's true for MKC's pathetic braking power.

2017 Lincoln MKC Fuel Economy

6.9/10

The 2017 Lincoln MKC SUV has a discreditable combined fuel economy of 23 mpg. While in cities, the ride delivers 21 mpg and on highways, it gives out 28 mpg. However, the numbers are correct only for the FWD trim. For the AWD trim, the combined fuel economy even falls to 21 mpg overall.

Infotainment System

The 2017 avatar of the Lincoln MKC SUV comes with the intuitive SYNC3 infotainment system. It is backed by an 8-inch touch display and a 14-speaker stereo sound system. USB ports are available in addition to a CD player and support for satellite radio. A rearview camera along with Bluetooth support is also available.

The 8-inch touch display is responsive and flaunts crisp graphics. Though there are ample on-screen buttons and menus available, you really don't need to depend on the screen for everything. 2017 Lincoln MKC Competition

Lincoln MKC vs Audi Q5 Premium

Like the Lincoln MKC, Audi Q5 Premium flaunts a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine. The engine generates 220 hp of power and 258 lb.-ft. of torque. The engine is coupled with an 8-speed automatic transmission mode. Pricing options for the Audi Q5 Premium start from $40,900. The ride offers an unimpressive combined fuel economy of 22 mpg.

Audi Q5 Premium leads the pack with a 0-60 MPH acceleration time of 5.9 seconds. However, it has the most CO2 emission value of 8.0. It is the bulkiest ride in the competition with a total curb weight of 4200 lbs. Nonetheless, it offers the best halting distance of 117 feet during emergencies.

Lincoln MKC vs Buick Envision

Another major competitor to the 2017 Lincoln MKC is the Buick Envision. The ride boasts a 2.0L TwinPower Turbo inline 4-cylinder engine complemented by a 6-speed automatic transmission mode. The 2.0L engine produces 197 hp of power and 192 lb.-ft. of torque. Both are least amongst the competition.

Envision ties with Lincoln MKC for the 0-60 MPH acceleration time but covers a quarter-mile 0.1 seconds faster. The ride offers a combined fuel economy of 25 mpg. Moreover, the ride has the most length of 183.7 inches in the competition. Buick Envision comes with an opening bid of $37,720.

Lincoln MKC vs Volvo XC60 T5 Inscription

With a starting price of $40,950, Volvo XC60 T5 Inscription is the most expensive ride in the class. Along with a 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, XC60 T5 flaunts an 8-speed automatic transmission mode. The ride has 240 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. of torque to spare.

Volvo XC60 T5 Inscription has the leisureliest 0-60 MPH acceleration. It takes 7.3 seconds in doing so. Nonetheless, the ride has the least CO2 emission value of 6.8 in the segment. Despite flaunting the most underprivileged braking power in the fraternity, the ride offers the best-in-league mileage of 26 mpg.

2017 Lincoln MKC Final Verdict

Thanks to the effectual driver-adjustable suspension, you can tune the MKC feel as per the situation calls for it. Perhaps the most enticing fact about MKC is its lengthy feature list. Further, the ride has one of the most silent cabins in the segment.

There are a few sections where the MKC is less tempting, including fuel economy, trunk volume, and back seats. However, there are plenty of options to pick from and the price-tag is fairly pocket-friendly.
