Expert Review, Pricing Analysis and Buying Guide

In the New Navigator, the Lincoln has carried on last year’s upgraded look. Yesteryear improvement includes-refreshed looks, a new infotainment touch screen, and an Active Glide System— a hands-free dive system to select highways to reduce fatigues while traveling long distances.Enhanced interior with two new design options.Standard front-row massaging seats with an option for rear-seated passengers. A larger 13.2 inches infotainment screen instead of 10 inches of the 2021 generation. The new 2023 Lincoln Navigator is fresh enough to compete with the BMW X7, the Cadillac Escalade, and the Mercedes Benz GLS class.

The new Navigator comes in 3 different trim levels. The basic variants are – the Standard and the Reserve. Whereas the top variant is Black Label. All three trims are equipped with the standard 3.5L twin Turbocharged V6 engine that pumps out 440 hp. Pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The Standard and the Reserve trims come with a standard RWD drivetrain and AWD as an option, whereas the Black Label offers AWD as standard. In the Standard variant, you get 20-inch wheels whereas the Reserve and the Black Label run on the 22-inches aluminium wheels. All models use a 12-inch instrument cluster and the 13.2-inch infotainment touch screen supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto Connectivity.

With the highest top speed, the new X7 is the quickest car among the rivals. The Lincoln offers the highest power in the new Navigator. With the highest price tag, and a powerful V8 engine the new Escalade offers competitive horsepower. All the vehicles take almost the same amount of time to catch the quarter-mile speed.

2023 Lincoln Navigator Ride and Handling

With the rear seat entertainment system as an option, the Navigator provides a soothing ride experience. Being a large Luxury SUV it provides pleasantly heated, ventilated, and optional massaging seats. To enrich the experience, it offers a captain seat format in the second row. The 14 speakers on the Standard trim are loud enough, however, the 28 Speaker 3D sound system on the Black Label takes it to a next level. Even the third-row passengers don't feel confined. The camera system detects bugs in the row and adjusts the suspension of the car. It uses short and long-arm suspensions for the front tires and Multilink suspension for the rear.

Its semi-automatic – Active Glide system helps the car run and adjust speed on a straight highway.

2023 Lincoln Navigator Braking System

With four-wheel disc brakes, Lincoln offers Navigator with Anti Lock Braking system.

It is furnished with 13.8 inches brake rotors for the front and 13.2 inches rotors for the rear wheels. The Advance Driver Assistance system (ADAS) helps the car keep centered in the lane. The system uses radar to detect obstacles and warns you to reduce the speed of the car to avoid any collision. If you don't react to the warning, and the vehicle comes closer to another car, the brake support pre-charges, and rises the brake assist sensitivity to increase responsiveness. Once the brakes are pre-charged, it applies full force even when the driver pushes the brake pedals, lightly. And help you to stop quickly.

An educated guess tells us that the Cadillac carries bigger brake rotors as it stops the car, faster than the Navigator. The new X7 is the lightest car among the competitors. With slightly more weight, the Mercedes stops the car faster than any other vehicle in the segment.

Fuel Economy

Running the standard 3.2L twin-turbocharged V6 across all the trims, the new Navigator does not provide a healthy fuel economy compared to its rivals. With a 10-speed automatic transmission, it achieves the mileage figure of — 17 mpg in the city, 23 mpg on the highway, and 19 mpg combined. With the help of 23.6 gallons of fuel capacity, Navigator gives birth to the range of — 401.2 miles in the city, 542.8 miles on the highway, and 452.2 miles combined. Its Black Label variant provides even dull mileage figures as it manages 16 mpg in the city, 22 mpg on the highway, and 18 mpg combined. With this, it delivers a range of 377.6 miles in the city, 519.2 miles on the highway, and 424.8 miles combined.

All the SUVs facilitates almost same mileage figures with 2 or 3 up and down. However, due to the highest curb weight, the 2023 Cadillac achieves the least mileage figures among all. Despite having a lesser fuel capacity, the X7 beats the Escalade with a high margin. New G-Class offers the best range in the segment. The V8 engine on the Cadillac sucks more fuel hence it results in less range.

The interior of the new Navigator is gorgeously spacious and filled with genuine luxurious amenities. The quality of the material used inside the cabin increase with the trim levels, when it offers wood trim in the center armrest and massaging function in the front and rear seats of the supreme trim. However, the basic trims have a lot of things to offer– the huge size of the cabin makes it easy for the second and third-row seated passengers to easily come in and go out. Retractable step rails enrich the convenience. Second-row captain seat formates make you feel like a king/queen with ample space. On the Black label, you have access to control most of the functions from the rear seat infotainment touch screen. As a signature style, the Navigator offers you optional 30-way power-adjustable massaging seats. However, as standard, you get heated and ventilated seats— 2-way driver and passenger adjustable seats with manual cushion extensions. The 28-speakers 3D sound system as standard on Black Label comes as an option on Base and Reserve models. The whole lineup is offered with a 13.2-inch infotainment screen that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The screen has a decent touch response, but its graphics and visibility are great. It provides easy to use interface to the user. The tilt and telescopic steering wheel, smoothen the driver's comfort when driving long distances. Average visibility with still few blind spots. The interior dimensions of the new Navigator consist of — the front row which has- 41.8 inches for headroom,43.9 inches for legroom, and 65.2 inches of room for the shoulder. The second row carries 40-inch headroom, 42.6-inch legroom, and 65.1 inches for the shoulder. In the third row – 37.3-inch headroom, 40.9-inch legroom, and 64.2-inch shoulder room.
