It will also add many sporty elements to match the higher performance like bigger 20-inch alloy wheels and sports bumpers with black piano inserts. Engine and Performance
2.0/10
The 2022 Maserati Levante will be available with two different engine options depending upon the trim you choose. The Levante GT will be equipped with a 3.0L twin-turbocharged V-6 engine producing 350 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque. The Levante Modena will be equipped with the same 3.0L V-6 engine but in a different state of tune and it will produce about 430 hp. The Levante Modena S trim will be equipped with a larger 3.8L V-8 engine producing 550 hp. All the engines will be mated to a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission and it is known to offer seamless shifts and a responsive experience. All the trims will come with a standard all-wheel-drive configuration.
2022 Maserati Levante SUV In Acceleration Mode
Considering the 2021 model, the 2022 model is expected to do 0-60 mph in 5.7 seconds and a quarter-mile drag will be done in about 14.1 seconds. The Levante’s performance is surely gonna be its strongest USPs. Just like the 2021 model, the 2022 Levante will offer very good handling for its size. The Sport Skyhook adaptive suspension will work just as intended and harden in aggressive drive mode. However, even in its default setting the suspension is sprung towards the stiffer side and your ride might get jittery due to road undulations. A softer setting would have been appreciated for better passenger comfort. All trims will be equipped with powerful brembo brakes equipped with dual cast discs to reduce unsprung mass.

The Mercedes-Benz GLE 450 is the bulkiest of the lot, followed by BMW X5 and Maserati Levante. The Porsche Cayenne is the lightest in the comparison. The Maserati Levante is longer and sits on a longer wheelbase. A longer wheelbase helps with improved stability at higher speeds. The BMW X5 offers maximum ground clearance, followed by Maserati Levante Porsche Cayenne and Mercedes-Benz GLE 450. Some of the standout exterior features are:

2022 Maserati Levante V/S 2022 BMW X5 xDrive40i
The BMW X5 produces less power than the Levante but its performance is slightly better. It is also much more fuel efficient than the Levante. It is also much more practical than the Levante considering a much higher cargo capacity.
2022 BMW X5 xDrive40i
However, the Maserati aces in the handling department and its exhaust note is unmatchable. It also comes with better designed interiors and cocoons its passengers in sheer luxury. The Italian craftsmanship is clearly visible even in some finer details of the Levante’s interior and exterior. It is also definitely a better looking SUV between the two. However, it is much more expensive than the BMW X5 XDrive40i. We feel the BMW X5 is a better choice between the two of them.
The Mercedes-Benz GLE 450 is very similar to its fellow German BMW X5. It is more powerful than the Levante and offers better performance than it. Despite being more powerful, it offers much better fuel economy than the Levante. It also offers better cargo capacity than the Levante. However, the Levante is lighter and handles very well. It also offers a higher ground clearance than the GLE 450.
2021 Mercedes-Benz GLE 450 Front Angle View
The Mercedes-Benz GLE 450 comes with a more subtle design language whereas the Levante is a flamboyant Italian with its aggressive styling. It is also more expensive than the Mercedes-Benz GLE 450. The MErcedes-Benz GLE 450 is also premium and features a luxurious cabin but can’t match the Levante. However, we would pick the GLE 450 considering all the other features.
2022 Maserati Levante V/S 2021 Porsche Cayenne
The Porsche Cayenne comes very close to the Levante in terms of handling and even surpasses it under certain conditions. It is less powerful than the Levante but offers nearly the same performance. It is more fuel efficient as well. The interiors of both the cars are on par with each other.
2021 Porsche Cayenne
However, we feel that the Levante just looks better with its aggressive front and elegant rear profile design. The Porsche Cayenne offers a better cargo capacity than the Levante and is lighter too. The Levante sits on a longer wheelbase and comes with a higher ground clearance than the Porsche Cayenne. Also, the infotainment experience might be a notch better than the Porsche Cayenne.
Final Verdict
The Levante is Maserati’s vision of a performance SUV and it surely succeeds at fulfilling it. It handles well and is fairly practical too. The aggressive exterior design, well designed interiors and high-specced infotainment system are surely its USPs. However, the low fuel efficiency is the Achilles heel of the new Maserati Levante.
The aural experience from its V-6 engine is surely a bliss and quite unmatched in its segment. It comes with many safety features however, most of the active driver assistance features are optional. So, it all narrows down to your personal preference. If you want more visual flair and a thrilling aural experience, go for the Levante. If you are high on better performance and practicality then check out some other SUVs in the segment.
