We Recommend

The middle-of-the-pack 2023 Mazda 3 Carbon Edition is the one to go for. It packs in more features, gets unique styling and yet keeps the price in check.

The Mazda 3 2023 is offered in two body styles, hatchback, and sedan, with the Mazda 3 hatchback 2023 offering a larger cargo capacity. The 2023 Mazda 3 interior feels premium with an 8.8-inch touchscreen display infotainment system paired with a Bose audio system. The trunk space is pretty decent and it has a sporty and eye-catching exterior styling. Mazda also offers utmost safety to the occupants and has secured reputable scores in testing conducted by the IIHS and the NHTSA. At this price point, it competes against more popular compact sedans like the Honda Civic, the reliability king Toyota Corolla, and the practical Volkswagen Jetta

Expert Review, Pricing Analysis and Buying Guide

There are four trim levels available for the Mazda 3 2023 with a number of packages to offer. The brand has discontinued the base variant. The company provides a standard 2.5L Inline-4 engine. In addition to this, the brand also offers a turbocharged powertrain with the line-up. The acceleration is quick as per the SUV segment. The multiple drivetrain options and aptly tuned suspension ensures composed handling.

Buying Advice

The best trim for most buyers would be the new 2023 Mazda 3 Carbon Edition trim. Priced at $27,200, the trim offers both drivetrain options and an abundance of features. The car has dual interior options and an impressive exterior profile with its 18-inch all-season alloy wheels.

Fuel Economy

7.5/10

The 2023 Mazda 3 fuel economy ratings depend on your engine and drivetrain choice. The most economical among the options is the naturally aspirated 2.5L Inline-4 engine with FWD that offers 28 MPG in the city and 37 MPG on the highway. The more powerful turbocharged 2.5L Inline 4 powertrain with AWD on upper trims gets an MPG rating of 25 MPG city and 33 MPG highway. The Mazda 3 2023 models offer the least impressive fuel economy figures in the segment owing to its sporty nature. The Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla lead in this aspect in both the city and highway economy. The fuel capacity of the tank of the 2022 Mazda 3 is the same as the Corolla and the Jetta, but larger than the Civic. However, the range of the Mazda 3 sedan is disappointing at 476 miles on a highway as compared to the Corolla, the Jetta, and the Civic. The range in the city is better than the Volkswagen Jetta.

Interior

7.4/10

The 2023 Mazda 3 interior comes with a premium and luxury appeal to it. The door cards and dashboard comes with soft-touch plastics. The Mazda 3 cabin is offered in a standard black tone with white stitching and inserts. The heated leather seats are of top quality with comfortable upholstery. It has 8-way power adjustable driver’s seats with power-adjustable lumbar support and two-position memory. The steering is leather wrapped, and so is the gear lever.

The car provides interior ambient LED lighting to the customers. The interior is also incorporated with dual-zone automatic climate control. There is plenty of utility space to offer with the storage compartments, seatback pocket, glove compartment and bottle/cup holders. The interior color tone is offered in 3 options namely Black Leatherette, Greige Leatherette, and Red Leather. The Mazda 3 trunk space is marginally smaller than its rivals at 13.2 cu-ft.

The 2023 Mazda 3 Sedan offers 92.8 cu-ft of total passenger volume which is more than the 88.6 cu-ft in the Toyota Corolla. However, it falls short of the space in front of the Jetta’s 94.7 cu-ft and the Civic’s 99 cu-ft. The car offers similar interior features as the others but lacks the wifi-hotspot that the Jetta offers. Mazda leads in terms of quality and feel of the material. It dominates the conventional interior design of the Civic and the Corolla. The cargo capacity up to the second row of the Mazda 3 is more than the Corolla’s.

8.5/10

The car’s headlights and taillights look analogous and carry a slim design. The rear profile of the car looks carries a neutral profile, unlike the aggressive front.
