Expert Review, Pricing Analysis and Buying Guide

In the new 2023 Mazda CX-30, we don't expect any significant alterations but that's totally understandable. Last year Mazda introduced all-wheel drive to the whole lineup of CX-30 as standard. The casual I4 paired with 6-speed automatic transmission makes 186 hp. While more dominant, turbocharged, capable of delivering 250 hp, comes with an option. The 18-inch alloys enrich the appearance of vehicles. Yesteryear refreshed interior with average fuel economy figures keeps it atop the choice of shoppers. It will be directly competing with the Kia Seltos, the Hyundai Kona, and the Volkswagen Taos.

The whole lineup of the New 2023 Mazda CX-30 is classified into 4 different trims. It starts from the Standard 2.5 S and goes all the way up to Premium. The 2.5L I4 Engine along with an AWD drivetrain across all trims, makes every model fulfilling its needs. The S model offers 16-inch alloys, however, in the upper trims you get 18-inch as standard. 8.8-inch infotainment touch screen with 8 speakers audio system on offer.Keyless entry along with dual-zone climate control on the Select trim. Sunroof with heated front seats on Preferred. With a 12-speaker Bose premium sound system, the Premium trims accumulate all the features of lower trims.

Keyless entry and rear blind spot monitoring with traffic alert give it a comparative advantage over the Base. All the models offer all-wheel drive as standard and feature 2,5L I4.

The competitive price of the new Mazda, offers better seats, interior, and comfort than most of its direct rivals in the segment. The interior reminds the features and ambiance of the Mazda 3. The 8.8-inch infotainment screen looks gorgeous and can be easily operated with the rotatory gear knob in the center console. For a small Crossover SUV, the cabin is roomy enough to make 4 people comfortable, adjusting an extra adult in the second row will feel confined. Standard 8-speakers are offered in the ordinary trims, however, the experience increases with the 14 speakers Bose premium audio. The 6-speed transmission does not feel slow and sluggish, it gets the job done. Feels smoother than the stiffer CX-5. The steering does not respond as quickly and you will feel it when you drive it on a regular basis. The engine feels a little better than the CX-5.

The Mazda CX-30 despite having a low road presence, styles with more refined and curvaceous exterior design. The LED headlights of the Mazda remind us of BMW. With 3 exterior colors on standard trim, it felicitates an option to choose from. The Select and the Preferred offer 6 different exterior color options, while the Premium trim is fitted with 7 shades. At an affordable price, it gives the appearance of flagship crossovers like the X1 and the Audi Q3. Black wheels with a sort of shiny and polished finish elevate the look of the car. However, with the shiny black shade options, scratches on the car are gonna be noticed easily. The grille is instantly recognizable. The roofline of the cx-30 slopes back behind to give the illusion that it is a coke. The tail lights, like the front lights, are long and very gracefully shaped. With a wheelbase of 104.4 inches, the CX-30 is 173 inches long. Without the mirrors, it measures 70.7 inches wide. It is 61.1 inches high from the ground and has a minimum ground clearance of 8 inches. Curb weight – 3388 lbs. Both front and rear tracks are 61.5 inches wide.

2023 Mazda CX-30 vs 2023 Kia Seltos

With a slightly higher price for the base model, the Kia offers a more spacious cabin than the Mazda. With the larger fuel capacity, it delivers extra mileage and range figures. Meanwhile, the Mazda is equipped with more ground clearance and with more curb weight, it carries a longer wheelbase. Kia provides a huge cargo capacity behind the first row and the second row. Despite having a huge gap in power, the Kia catches 0-60 faster than the CX-30. Both the vehicles are on good offer with respect to their prices. Kia offers touch screen infotainment, but it does not look that appealing. Meanwhile, the cabin of the Mazda feels more sophisticated.

2023 Mazda CX-30 vs. 2023 Hyundai Kona

With almost $ 500 more, the Mazda offers a more powerful engine and standard AWD drivetrain. Hyundai Kona offers a better fuel economy and range. Both the vehicles offer a comparative roomy cabin. They also resemble each other, in terms of cargo capacity. Hyundai offers less curb weight in the Kona and it helps cars to stop faster. The New Mazda offers a longer wheelbase and greater ground clearance. New Kona is shorter in length but it offers top speed to a greater extent. Kona wears less price tag, but the CX-30 offers better ambiance and exterior design.

2023 Mazda CX-30 vs. 2023 Volkswagon Taos

With the extra $ 1000, the new Taos delivers an enormous cabin for the front and rear seated people. It also felicitates vast cargo capacity. The 1.5L turbocharged engine gives less power output than the standard 2.5L I4 on the CX-30. The CX-30 has AWD as standard, whereas the new Taos comes with an FWD drivetrain. Due to lesser curb weight, the new Taos catches the speed faster. Mazda has an additional 1.6 inches of ground clearance, meanwhile, the Taos gives an extra 1.5-inch long wheelbase. The new Taos has a better road presence than the Mazda CX-30. The Interior of both cars feels flagship, but the Taos gets extra marks for the touchscreen display.

Final Verdict

With the less price bracket, it provides more Torque than the BMW X1 and the Audi Q3. Though Mazda has not promised any significant changes in the new CX-30, still it is far ahead of the competition. Less fuel economy figures can be a concern , but its luxury interior makes you feel like seated a the flagship vehicle. There are many options in the segment, but CARHP is happy with its offerings.
