The ultimate luxury is to be powerful, This S-class is just that. It comes with a 463-hp twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8, 9-G Tronic gearbox, couple that with the air suspensions and boy! This car can fly. This new engine is more efficient than its predecessor thanks to the new CAMTRONIC valve-lift adjustment system.

Features

There is only one trim level, you get all you can desire and much more than that. At the rear you get four-way power-adjustable outboard seats with heating and cooling functions, power-operated leg rests, a built-in massage feature, and a massive 40inches leg-room.

If you want a bigger engine you can go for the Maybach S650, which is the same car but with a bigger V-12 engine.

We Recommend

The Maybach in itself is more than enough. Still, for those in search of more can spend $1950 and get the rear bench replaced with a pair of individual seats and a full-length center console with folding tray tables.

Engine

“The new twin-turbo V-8 is devoid of any noticeable lag, while the standard 4Matic all-wheel-drive system applies torque to each wheel with the finesse of Lionel Messi dribbling a soccer ball” -Caranddriver

Power and Performance

The new 463 horsepower V8 feels powerful both in city or highway. This engine comes mated to a 9 G-Tronic gearbox which is efficient and handles the gear changing duties without breaking a sweat. The air suspension just completes the package and makes this car indestructible in its forte – ‘luxury on the move’

However, if you are willing to pay more, a lot more, than you can get an even powerful 563hp in the Rolls Royce Ghost or a 505 hp in the Bently Mulsanne.

Competition

Mercedes-Benz Maybach S560 vs Rolls Royce Ghost

The Rolls Royce is a class in itself. The spirit of ecstasy holds its own value which cannot be replaced in the minds of those, who can afford it. However, one thing that even the Ghost cannot compete with, is the backseat of the Maybach S560.

Agreed, that the engine in the Maybach S560 is smaller but it doesn’t feel underpowered anytime. It has all the power you’ll ever need. On the top of that, it is nearly $146,000 cheaper than the Ghost.

The Maybach S560 and the ghost follows a different approach, as the ghost is more driver-centric. So it’s up to you which car you want and for what purpose.

Mercedes-Benz Maybach S560 vs Bentley Mulsanne

Bentley since its very first car has given the world some great cars. The Mulsanne is no different. It has a massive V12 churning out insane power and torque figures. Both the backseat and front seats are as luxury as it can get. The looks are imposing and classy.

On its own the Bentley Mulsanne is a great car, maybe better than the Maybach S560 but consider the fact that for a Mulsanne you’ll pay nearly double the amount you pay for a Maybach S560, and you’ll love the S560 again.

Final Verdict

The Mercedes Maybach S560, especially with that new 4.0 liter V8 has become even more desirable than before. The rear seats are the benchmark of luxury. With a starting price of $168,600, it is a bargain. Yes! only if you consider its closest rivals.

However, the autonomous system of the car is a bit hesitance, and justifying a $69,000 premium over the normal S-class is a bit difficult. Still, getting out of the car with Maybach emblem on it is a sign that whatever you do, you do in sheer luxury and comfort.
