In terms of the powertrain, power still continues to be drawn from a 2.0L Inline 4 Cylinder Motor and 2 Powerful Electric Motors which powers both front and rear wheels and hence making the outlander, a 4WD vehicle. A single speed reduction gear plays the role of the transmission while the PHEV, continues to comes with Regenerative Braking. Primary rival to the outlander PHEV comes in the form of the Kia Niro PHEV while the other similar rivals come in the form of the Lexus NX 300h and the Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid
