The Audi A6 Prototype has been spied testing on public roads. The Prototype does show that the A6 will be getting a facelift like the new A8 and could sport the S-line package as standard. This updated Audi A6 will be released in the second half of 2022 and will be available for sale late that year as a 2023 model.

The 2023 Audi A6 Prototype has been spied testing on public roads featuring a facelift. This spotting has been had shortly after the Audi A8 received a facelift featuring a new front and rear fascia along with a few updates. Based on the spy shots we have, we can say Audi will be giving its bread and butter earning sedan the same treatment.

The Audi A6 Prototype on the public roads near Audi’s factory in Ingolstadt, hence we can say that the prototype is really close to its production-spec as the camouflage is covering just the changed/updated parts not the majority of the car. Usually, when Audi gives a facelift to their vehicles, there are also minor changes on the interior as well.

To the exterior, we can see that the facelifted Audi A6 is featuring a new set of headlights and will most probably have a new DRL as well along with some new animation which we would see on the startup. There are also changes to the front bumper and fender to accommodate the new headlight design but these changes would only involve a nip and tuck to such parts.

Along with this, the front bumper does have a new vent design, we reckon this is the S-line version of the A6. We say this as the front grille which has black tape on the badges, especially where the S-line badge would feature on the grille. In the past, we have seen the S-line package turning standard during annual model updates like on the Audi Q3, so we cannot rule out the S-Line package upgrade turning standard for this model.

As with the Audi A8 facelift, we did see a new grille with a new finish, we do expect the same for the upcoming Audi A6. From the spy shots, we can clearly see that the side profile of the Audi A6 remains unchanged, but with this facelift, we do speculate there will be new sportier wheel designs as part of the updates.

On the rear, we do see the entire rear fascia has been camouflaged, which gives us an idea that all of it has been changed/updated. As we expect with the front getting the S-line bumpers, the rear will also get the same and will feature a sportier appearance, as we can see sportier dual-exhaust tips whose outline has been camouflaged.

This is not all, the taillights also appear to have camouflage on them, which leads us to believe a new taillight design with new animation on startup, which will be lovely to see. On top of the liftgate/trunk lid, we can see a lip spoiler which we suspect is part of the S-line package but it could also be integrated into it.

As this is a facelift, we expect the interior to have infotainment upgrades and new materials and colors, along with a modification to the interior with the possibility of new vent designs, and new steering wheel design, and a few more small changes. However, we do expect the same engines to carry forward - 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-6 and 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-6 which MHEV called 45 TFSI and 55 TFSI, respectively, which we do expect to get a tuneup.

As the 2022 Audi A6 is already available for sale, we do expect this A6 Prototype to be released in the second half of 2022 and will be available for sale late in that year as a 2023 model year A6. In terms of price, we expect a similar to the 2022 A6 price range of $55,900 to $69,500.
