Kia has been a very successful brand as a sister company of Hyundai. The Korean brand brought its entry-level compact SUV crossover to the US market, and it has earned various awards to date. However, it had some issues in its 2023 iteration, and the upcoming 2024 model might just resolve everything that it lacked.

When we got to experience the 2023 Kia Seltos, it did leave us a bit disappointed with its excessive use of plastic, rough CVT, and poor safety rating. Kia seems to have taken the feedback into consideration and has showcased the 2024 Seltos with some major and eye-catching changes within less than 6 months of the previous launch.

The 2024 Kia Seltos will compete against the likes of the Hyundai Kona, Mazda CX-30, Chevrolet Trailblazer, and Volkswagen Taos once it gets released.

Kia used the 2022 Los Angeles Auto Show to exhibit the upcoming 2024 Seltos, which will land in your nearby showrooms in the first half of 2023. For the 2024 iteration, they have made some significant changes to the Seltos lineup, both cosmetically and mechanically. However, the pricing is still not in sight, and the Korean automaker informed us that it will be revealed close to the launch date.

The 2024 Seltos keeps both its 2.0-liter naturally aspirated and 1.6-liter turbocharged inline-4 engines from its predecessor; however, the powerful turbocharged engine is now tuned to produce 195 horsepower, which is a 20 horsepower jump over its predecessor. Kia has also replaced the 7-speed DCT of the 2023 Seltos with a new 8-speed automatic transmission. Also, we believe that the updated Seltos will get a better-tuned CVT than its previous iteration.

On the cosmetic side, Kia has given the Seltos three new color options- Phuton Blue, Galais Green, and Fusion Black. Along with that, the alloy rims have also been redesigned for 2024. The front and rear LED lamp setup will see a new and striking design over its predecessor. The front bumper and grille also get a refreshed look overall. A noteworthy change at the back is the LED strip that connects both tail lamps together.

Inside, the 2024 Seltos gets a new optional panoramic view screen that includes two 10.25-inch displays joined together. Instead of the usual analog cluster, this look gives the Seltos an upmarket feeling. Along with that, the SX sunroof package now includes a power tailgate and ventilated seats.

Plus, a new X Line variant has been added to the Seltos lineup, which comes with unique 18” wheels, black roof racks, and gloss black door garnishes.

The current 2023 Kia Seltos has a starting MSRP of $22,840 and goes all the way up to $28,340 for the top-of-the-line SX variant. The 2023 Seltos can be ordered with two different engines as well, a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter gasoline engine and a turbocharged 1.6-liter gasoline engine. There is also an on-demand AWD system available.

One issue we have already mentioned is its safety rating because its own sibling, the Hyundai Kona, managed to secure a 5-star safety rating whereas the 2023 Seltos could only achieve a 4-star from NHTSA. Other than that, Seltos has bagged several awards for Kia, such as the IIHS Top Safety Pick and Kelly Blue Book’s Best Buy of 2022 among subcompact SUVs. The Seltos also manages to churn out a very economical mileage of 30 MPG on the highway.

Currently, the 2023 Seltos, as a crossover SUV, competes with the likes of the Hyundai Kona, Mazda CX-30, Chevrolet Trailblazer, and Volkswagen Taos. However, the price of its sibling, the Hyundai Kona, is about $2,000 cheaper than the Seltos, which makes it a bit expensive for what it offers initially.
