Porsche Taycan 4S Cross Turismo has set a new Guinness World Record, achieving a new benchmark for the greatest ever altitude change for an electric car-nearly 4,842,967 metres or slightly over three miles to be precise. The Porsche Taycan 4S Cross Turisno was driven by J.F. Musial and his teammates, travelling about 1,400 miles between the lowest point and highest point in America in just 33 hours and 48 minutes.

Porsche has set an all-new Guinness World Record by setting a new benchmark for electric vehicles. The Porsche Taycan 4S Cross Turismo achieved the greatest altitude change for an electric car ever, travelling about 1,400 miles between the lowest point and the highest point in America within 33 hours and 48 minutes. The unbelievable feat was achieved by J.F. Musial and his team, who are usually behind the camera, creating some extraordinary automotive films and TV shows.

The entire team consists of automotive and travel addicts, deciding to take the all-electric Porsche 4S Taycan Cross Turismo from a deep underground mining location to the highest point in America, travelling continuously and stopping only for the teammates and car to get refreshed and recharged respectively. The all-new Guinness World Record is a testimony to various difficult feats that can be achieved by an electric vehicle.

To set a new world record, J.F. Musial and his team of enthusiasts decided to go lower than the lowest point in America, i.e Badwater Basin in Death Valley, at 282 feet below the sea level. To go further down, the team decided to go underground at Eagle Mine in Michigan. The Porsche Taycan 4S Cross Turismo comes with adjustable ride height and all-wheel-drive, allowing for Eagle Mine’s stringent criteria for being allowed to drive through the tunnel and reach the lowest part of excavation which is 540.8 metres (1,774.4 feet) below the sea-level

“We wanted to drive from the lowest point in America to one of the highest, Pikes Peak – where we’ve spent countless hours filming the famous hill climb. The project relied on a lot of goodwill, and a car that’s pretty much unique in its mix of abilities.”- J.F. Musial

After verifying the depth by expert surveyors, the team started its journey just after dawn to reach the highest point in America, i.e Top of the Pikes Peak in Colorado. The Pikes Peak is about 14,115-feet above the sea-level. As expected, the journey was very demanding and the team had to travel nearly 1,400 miles in 33 hours and 48 minutes, traversing across six different states and finally ascending over three miles. The team experienced different weather conditions like sun, snow, rain and ice to reach its final destination.

In total, the entire team covered a distance of 1,413 miles along the ground and 15,889 feet straight-up in just about 33 hours and 48 minutes, definitely a big feat for an electric vehicle. The Porsche Taycan 4S Cross Turismo is powered by two electric motors for a combined output of 482 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque. The Taycan 4S Cross Turismo can do a 0-60 MPH sprint in just 3.9 seconds and has a top speed of 149 MPH. The Taycan 4S Cross Turismo is equipped with a 93 KWh battery pack and offers 215 miles of range on a full charge, challenging the likes of Audi e-tron and Tesla Model X.
