The Nissan Z is an iconic sports car series that has captivated many over the years since its launch of 240Z in 1969. The last generation car was called the 370Z and this time, Nissan will scrap the digits from its moniker and only let the “Z” stand in its place. Powered by a twin-turbo V6, capable of producing 400 horses, the new 2022 Nissan Z will be pretty powerful. Not only that, it will also be getting tech and styling upgrades as well.
2022 Nissan Z Dashboard
The interior of the 2022 Nissan Z has been revamped to include a more modern cabin, and we will see how that holds up against the competition. It comes in three different variants and the base trim is expected to be priced somewhere around $40,000. It goes against stalwarts like the Toyota Supra, BMW M240i and Audi TTS.
2022 Nissan Z Coupe Interior Design, Dimensions, and Comfort
The new 2022 Nissan Z coupe has been upgraded to include a modern interior with a focus on design and materials. However, the interior still instills the aura and nostalgia. With a touch of nicer materials throughout, the Nissan Z also adds more exciting upgrades, such as the leather-wrapped GT-R-inspired steering wheel. Buttons and dials are all within easy reach of the driver, making it not only easier to access, but also intuitive. The blend of modernity and athleticism really pays off inside the cabin. Hard plastics are still pretty apparent but that doesn’t exactly cheapen the experience.
2022 Nissan Z Front Seats
Coming to the seats, the 2022 Nissan Z can seat only two. The seats will be the new power-adjustable sport bucket seats that will offer impressive lateral support. They will also be built from anti-slip material and a slide-reducing center pad. As standard, the base trim will come with cloth upholstery while the higher trims will feature leather upholstery. Interior room is excellent with tons of leg room. Nissan excluded the rear row seats, since they aren’t even practical in a coupe, anyway. Not only does it help reduce weight, it also cuts down the cost for them.

The two Japanese sports cars do not even offer any rear seats. The two German cars, on the other hand, do offer back seats, but we don’t reckon you would want to be seated in there. Still, the 2022 BMW M240i can somewhat squeeze in smaller adults, but the Audi TTS definitely can’t.
2022 Nissan Z Coupe Infotainment
The 2022 Nissan Z finally gets a worthy infotainment upgrade. As standard, it comes with the 8” touchscreen display at the center of the dashboard. However, you can opt for a larger 9” touchscreen display with navigation. Also, added to the mix is a 12.3” digital instrument cluster, which presents you with key information. We are excited to see how the system performs.
2022 Nissan Z Infotainment System
The system will come with NissanConnect, which will offer optional features, such as Door to Door Navigation, a Wi-Fi hotspot and also Remote Access. Standard features will include all of the modern amenities you could ask for, such as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, SiriusXM radio, Bluetooth and more. All the trims come with a basic 6-speaker sound system, but those who are looking for that extra bass can upgrade to the optional BOSE premium audio system.

2022 Nissan Z Coupe Cargo Capacity
Nissan hasn’t explicitly mentioned the cargo capacity of their new Z, but you obviously shouldn’t expect a ton of storage inside a coupe. We expect the cargo capacity to be similar to the figure offered in the 370Z, which wasn’t much.
2022 Nissan Z Cargo Space
The exclusion of the rear row adds more room for storing cargo. Still, for the size, the Nissan Z should be able to fit your weekend’s groceries, a couple of suitcases and even small baggage for a weekend trip away.

Well, the cargo capacity is not much on any of these coupes, but the Audi TTS can still hold better. BMW M240i has the least cargo capacity in the lot.
Additional Interior Storage Spaces
At the front, you will find a couple of cupholders, a center console armrest storage, a small glovebox and a very narrow door pocket, only for storing the smallest of items. It’s a coupe and not meant to be practical, so it lacks proper storage spaces.
2022 Nissan Z Coupe Creature Comforts
We do know that the interior is mostly going to be driver-focused and race-inspired. Sport grade gets Sport bucket seats with Black woven cloth Synthetic suede inserts, 8-way manual driver seat, 4-way manual front passenger seat and Automatic climate control. Performance grade gets Leather appointed seats with unique seat cushion and side bolster design, heated front seats, 4-way power driver seat w/manual lumbar support, 4-way power front passenger seat and suede appointed door trim.
Limited Edition Proto Spec grade gets you Exclusive Proto Spec leather-appointed seats with yellow accents, Exclusive Proto Spec suede + cloth door trim w/yellow stitching and Proto Spec interior badging.
Verdict
Well, we can’t exactly expect a coupe to be practical. Despite that, we do believe that the 2022 Nissan Z should offer enough decent space and sportiness you are looking for without burning a hole in your pocket. The interior is modern, stylish and also offers an excellent driver-focused infotainment system. Material quality is good and the seats are very well equipped. Overall, we think that Nissan might have nailed it with their new gen Z.
