The Godzilla was and is one of the most desired cars across the country, famed for its performance and tunability.Nissan managed to grab a lot of attention when they launched the 2019 model of this car.The GTR was able to match the pace of the rivals like the Porsche 911 and the Ferrari 458.Powered by a V6 engine the GTR produces enough grunt to even beat the supercars that are supposed to be the best. The 2019 GT-R can also be called the supercar killer thanks to its amazing performance and low weight that enables the car to go on a controlled rampage every time you press the throttle.

I love my GT-R!!

Pros - Head-turning exterior styling, Effortless handling, Roaring exhaust note, Exceptional steering feel

Cons - Noisy cabin at high speeds, Subpar gas mileage

Aggressive performance guaranteed My Nissan GT-R is the ultimate driving machine with jaw-dropping performance and exceptional steering feel. I never felt complicated while driving on freeways and its cornering abilities are the best I've ever experienced. I'm an ardent enthusiast of its unique exterior styling and its exhaust note grabs attention while accelerating. Surprisingly, the driving cabin feels noisy at 80+mph and the service technicians have nothing to do about it. It was an expensive transaction and I expected better financial support from the F&I team but they failed to satisfy us with their interest rates. But the sales professionals kept us informed throughout the process and deli...

Pure madness

Pros - Lightweight, Beautiful turbo spool, Acceleration.

Cons - Expensive, Dated design and cabin tech.

Not the most advanced cabin It not a common thing for people to be spending $113,467 on a car and the reason for it is that it’s way too much for a car but the GT-R is definitely not your average car. It does looks pretty much the same as it always has which is pretty disappointing and the cabin has barely been updated with current tech and features but turn the ignition on and take the car for a spin and you’ll be in for a surprise. The acceleration sticks me on to the seat nice and firm and the whole car feels very nimble no matter how fast I push the car. I usually don’t listen to music when driving the GT-R as the turbo charged engine produces some beautiful symphony and whines that is very distin...

Fastest car I've ever driven!

Pros - Blistering performance, Thrill-filled rides, Aggressive exhaust note, Eye-catchy exteriors

Cons - Low-floor seats, Limited gas mileage, Excess engine noise at high speeds

Scintillating power display Undoubtedly, this is the most powerful sports car I've ever owned. I used to drive it usually on tracks for enjoying its thrill-filled rides and extraordinary handling. I still remember my first driving experience on a track named 'Selinsgrove Speedway' and got stunned with its blistering quick acceleration. I love its unique exterior styling that turns everyone's head while pressing the gas pedal and its exhaust note is simply aggressive. It was a decent purchasing experience in the Exton Nissan and the sales consultants followed a transparent process to complete it quickly. The finance team managed to increase the time duration for the monthly payment installments a...

The 2019 GT-R starts at a price range of $99,990 and that is a great deal for what the GT-R will offer you.It is at a low price point but has the potential to rival the likes of the The Corvette Z06, Ford Shelby GT350,Audi R8,The Acura NSX and the Porsche 911 Turbo, all these are equally popular too.If you have been a user of the GT-R from the 1st generation or driven them all then you might not find any differences to this from the 2K9 model as there have been no improvements and there was no need of any.

2019 Nissan GT-R Features

The GT-R as told before stars from a price of $99,990 for the Pure trim and this is the basic model named Pure. The price goes up all the way to the $128,540 for the track Edition which is the trim factory tuned with complete performance in mind.In between these two stands the Premium trim offered at a price of $110,540.None of the trims can be called poorly equipped as all the trims get good amount of features and are only made better with the rising price point.

Which Trim should you buy?

The Track edition is the most performance focussed model and that is given out on the name as well. However, the model on our mind would be the Premium for a certain reasons and the important one would be comfort.Sure enough the Track Edition does come with all the comforts and features of the other two models but when a car is set for the most performance the comfort is definitely compromised and the 20” wheels will have a effect on the car’s ability to absorb bumps, the NISMO tuned suspension is hard to enable the handling to be better and the Black/red Interior makes the interior not very bright or pleasant. The child/teenager in me will no doubt prefer the Track edition but the practical side of me would pick the premium trim and that is where the dilemma must stop. There might not be too much room for regret as the car spoken about is the GT-R and the trims of the same car which will bring about no change in performance.

2019 Nissan GT-R Engine and Performance

9.9/10

The performance good enough to take on supercars comes from a twin turbocharged 3.8L V6 engine that chucks out a good 565hp and 467 lb of torque. The Exhaust has an ISI turbocharger integrated to it for efficient cooling and optimized flow. There are various titanium components used in making up the engine components and that helps keep the weight low.The exhaust too is made from titanium and are hand built to ensure proper cooling.

The transmission is a 6-speed transmission with dual-clutch and that helps in speeding up the transition from one gear to another very quick and slick precisely the gears can change in just 0.15 seconds thanks to this that the Godzilla moves forward quite violently at the very least push. There is beautiful system of dry sump lubrication which sprays oil straight to the gars during cornering which smoothens the operation and cools the engine better at big speeds.

All the cars here are in the supercars league and are really expensive. The GT-R however takes the fight to them and makes mincemeat of them too.The Acura seems to be the most powerful car here at 573bhp the Audi and the Nissan are just separated by 1 hp while the Porsche is the least powerful at 540bhp. The NSX is also the only car to have a 9speed gearbox while the porsche and the Audi share a 7speed the Nissan sticks to a 6 speed unit.

How well does the GT-R handle?

To describe the GTR’s handling.Stability,Responsiveness, stability and a character that is graceful and elegant, these together make the handling really really great. The horsepower when compared to the supercars the GT-R goes up against is nothing but in respect to the GT-R itself this number is just really great, this is where we can feel what a acceleration that makes your head stick to the headrest. The spectacular electronically controlled AWD system helps put down the 565hp.The system is capable enough to calculate when and how the power should be sent to which wheels. The Bilstein Damptronic suspension gets a knowledge of the road to provide the optimum force and the setting to dampen and absorb the undulations.

The steering is extremely responsive and gives excellent confidence for the drivers around corners. The placement of the engine on the chassis’s backside makes the car an excellent handler and very agile,it changes direction really fast.

2019 Nissan GT-R Braking Performance

The GT-R even though not built for straight line speed is still blisteringly fast and that level of performance necessitates an equal amount of stopping power which is taken care of by the 16.1” rotors in the front and the 15.4” rotors at the rear. The car that is fast not just when accelerating but also when decelerating. It stops within a staggering 94ft from 0-60 despite being the heaviest car.

The Porsche shares the brake size figures of the Nissan and tries to come close to the braking performance at a 96ft when coming to a standstill. The Porsche is the lightest at 3517lbs and yet falls short of beating the Godzilla. The most powerful car has the worst braking performance at 103ft it takes the longest distance to stop from 0.The Audi despite having the smallest brakes stops better than the NSX.

2019 Nissan GT-R Fuel Economy

6.5/10

One of the disadvantages of the GT-R is the poor fuel economy, when compared to other cars with the similar powertrain. However, when seen as a rival to the cars here the Fuel economy is not too bad.The GT-R returns 16mpg in the city and a good 22 mpg on the highway, this is not too bad and has a fuel capacity of 19.5 gallons. This gives a decent enough range when driving.

The 911 Turbo turns out to be the most fuel efficient car here returning a city mileage of 19mpg and a highway mileage of 24mpg summing up to a combined mileage of 21 mpg with a fuel tank of 17.6 gallons. The Acura NSX being the only car with a hybrid powertrain manages to return a superb 21 mpg in the city and a 22 mpg out on the highway but has a very small tank of 15.6 gallons. The R8 has the largest fuel tank of 21.9mpg but returns the worst mileage figures.

2019 Nissan GT-R Interior

7.8/10

The GT-R can seat 4 people which is really great considering that such performance is mostly from cars with two seats.which makes us come to wonder how the insides of the car look and feel like. The seats are hand stitched using semi-aniline leather and are comfortable to spend long hours on.The legroom on offer is ample and easy to get in and out of.The build quality is sturdy and the cabin is spacious although the rear seating might be more suited for short people or kids.

The GT-R does not offer the extravagance of the Germans, but manages to have a charm of its own even though the insides seem to be a bit dated and has cheap plastic materials at places

The higher models get dual tone interiors and a contrasting red stitching to make the car feel premium and sporty. There is good headroom and legroom in the front seats but not too much on the backside.

All the cars here other than the Nissan seat only two people and that is the disadvantage against the GT-R in terms of the seating capacity. The GTR is the only car that can seat 4 passengers and the rest can seat only 2 and that gives our supercar killer a big functional advantage and the rear does look spacious too.

The highlight interior features of the GTR would be

  • Heated Front Sport Seats -inc: 8-way driver and 4-way passenger power front seats
  • Driver Seat -inc: Power Rear Seat Easy Entry
  • Passenger Seat -inc: Power Rear Seat Easy Entry
  • Bucket Front Facing Rear Seat

What’s there to keep you entertained?

NissanConnect Infotainment system comes as standard on the GT-R and this helps the car connect with smart phones. There is a 8” touch screen system offered with a easy menu although it is not too sharp or crisp to use.A 11 speaker Bose sound system is issued as standard with active noise cancellation.

The multi info system is designed in association with the developers who work on the Playstation GT games, this information system has all the monitoring gizmos like longitudinal and lateral G-Force, engine coolant temperature, boosts pressure, steering angle, etc. The GT-R also offers Apple CarPlay, Navigation, Bluetooth and USB connectivity and satellite radio.

The other highlight features of the infotainment system are:

  • NissanConnect infotainment system
  • 8-inch touchscreen
  • USB connectivity
  • Bluetooth
  • Apple CarPlay
  • 11-speaker Bose audio system
  • Navigation
  • Satellite and HD radio

2019 Nissan GT-R Exterior

8.6/10

The GTR is know to have a very functional design and after quite a lot of research the current mid engine setup was found to fit right. The Grille on the front offers more cooling and a stiff hood to avoid wind deflection during high speeds, the down force is created using the help of the front fenders and spoilers. The Nissan might not look as beautiful like the italians but it seems more like geometric shapes with every part of it working on some minor yet very significant function.

The weight figures of all the cars are not present but considering the dimensions and the seating capacity it is not difficult to assume that the GTR is the heaviest of the lot. Apparently the Nissan is the longest and the tallest car along with having the longest wheelbase considering that it is the only car in here that has two rows and can seat 4 people. The Porsche has the shortest wheelbase and that does make way or rather complement its performance.

The highlight of the GT-R’s Exterior are:

  • Wheels: 20" RAYS Forged Aluminum
  • Body-Colored Front Bumper w/Black Rub Strip/Fascia Accent
  • Body-Colored Rear Bumper w/Black Rub Strip/Fascia Accent
  • Rocker Panel Extensions
  • Black Side Windows Trim and Black Front Windshield Trim

2019 Nissan GT-R Safety

7.0/10

The GTR is among the most expensive and top of the line offering from Nissan and is the car they use across multiple racing events. The GT-R is sold with a lot of features as standard and the car itself gives out that confidence and sturdy build quality feeling when you sit inside, the interiors too feel good for going through abuse and so does the exterior. This car might not be bulletproof tough but can sure take a few hits and keep the occupants safe.

It comes standard with an exceptional AWD system,Rearview camera and the stability control system from Nissan with different modes.

The important safety features are

  • Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
  • ABS And Driveline Traction Control
  • Side Impact Beams
  • Dual Stage Driver And Passenger Seat-Mounted Side Airbags
  • Emergency Sos
  • Front And Rear Parking Sensors
  • Tire Pressure Monitoring System Tire Specific Low Tire Pressure Warning
  • Dual Stage Driver And Passenger Front Airbags
  • Curtain 1st Row Airbags
  • Airbag Occupancy Sensor
  • Outboard Front Lap And Shoulder Safety Belts -inc: Pretensioners

2019 Nissan GT-R Competition

6.0/10

Nissan GT-R  vs Audi R8

The R8 is no slouch; it is a really good car and a great piece of equipment that shows what Audi are actually capable of giving the corvette a run for its money. The Audi is very fast and offers good performance. It costs quite a lot and is not as functional as the GT-R.It seats 2 while the GT-R seats 4 and does prove itself to be a car for the family.

Nissan GT-R  vs Acura NSX

The NSX has been a rival for the FT-R for quite some time now. Both these cars are japanese, both are top of the line, both are fast and give superior performance. However, the difference being the GT-R became better while the NSX became better in its own way.The NSX is overpriced and yet not as functional as the GTR

Nissan GT-R vs Porsche 911

The Porsche is clearly overpriced compared to most cars and that is known, but owning a Porsche is most of the time a issue of prestige. The GT-R is very much not a very expensive car and it does not look very fancy too.But when the talk is of the performance the Porsche is no doubt a really good bet but the GT-R matches and sometimes even better at a much lesser price.

2019 Nissan GT-R Final Verdict

The Nissan GT-R is clearly a mighty car at a very affordable price, even better is this car is really easy to tune up and modify. If you are someone who craves performance in the car but do not have money to spare or even worse your spouse does not approve of such exorbitant expenses then this is the car you can choose.
