In a crossover-dominated market, it’s a challenge for a sedan to survive the heat. But the Nissan Sentra launched four decades ago not only endured the competition and ever changing trends, it has been one of the moneymakers for the company ever since. Nissan introduced the eighth generation Versa for 2020 MY with a redesigned exterior and interior, more power and more standard features. For 2021 MY, the standard features list only got bigger.

2022 Nissan Sentra Dashboard

The 2022 Sentra comes with a starting price of $19,510 and three trims. For 2022 MY, the SV gets an optional All-Weather Package, which gets you heated front seats and steering wheel, as well as fog lights. Apart from this, the SR comes with an available Midnight Edition Package which gets you black bits on both exterior and interior. 2022 Nissan Sentra locks horns with the likes of the Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, and Hyundai Elantra.

2022 Nissan Sentra Interior Design, Dimensions, and Comfort

The 2022 Sentra’s interior somehow manages to tick all the boxes, making it one of the best choices among compact sedans. The interior is not only spacious but looks and feels upscale for its price. Although the base trim comes with some plastic parts, the plastics are of good quality. The dashboard design is simple yet modern. The base trim gets you a black plastic dashboard, but the SV and SR come with a leatherette upholstered dashboard along with white or red contrast stitching. The dashboard features a set of triple circular climate control vents with metal-look accents, which you find in premium European cars. You also get a semi-digital instrument cluster with a 4.2-inch color MID and a urethane multi-function steering wheel. The SV and SR trims come equipped with a leather-wrapped steering wheel, which helps with a better grip. You also get a larger 7-inch customizable, color MID with these trims.

Speaking of interior space, the cabin has a passenger volume of 96 cubic feet, but installing the optional moonroof reduces it by 2 cubic feet. And it comes with a seating capacity for five people. It features Zero Gravity seats which feel the most comfortable among all its rivals. As standard, you get manually adjustable front seats but you can opt for a power-adjustable driver’s seat with the Premium package. Moreover, the S trim gets you cloth-trimmed seats while the SV comes with premium cloth-trimmed seats. The SR trims upgrade that to orange-stitched sport cloth seats. However, you can also opt for Diamond-quilted leather seats or orange-stitched Prima-Tex seats via packages.

Rear Row (Head/Shoulder/Leg) (in)

The 2022 Nissan Sentra has the most spacious front row and an excellent cabin design. The Zero Gravity seats feel the most comfortable and provide excellent support on longer rides. However, the rear row feels a bit cramped. 2022 Hyundai Elantra is the most spacious of the lot; it also offers a more balanced front and rear row seating space.

2022 Nissan Sentra Infotainment

As standard, the 2022 Sentra comes equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen display powered by NissanConnect infotainment system. The display is decent but rivals offer better. The touch response is also decent without occasional lags. Moreover, you also get physical knobs and controls to access the interface. Apart from that, you also get a four-speaker stereo system, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, radio, and a USB port.

2022 Nissan Sentra Infotainment System

Moving up the trim ladder, you get a larger 8-inch touchscreen display, a six-speaker audio system, two USB Type-A & one Type-C port, and SiriusXM Radio. Apart from that, NissanConnect services, Wi-Fi hotspot, and Bose eight-speaker premium audio system can be availed via the SR Premium Package.

You can also store more cargo items once you fold the rear seats. But do remember, it does not fold flat. The cargo trunk opens wide and has a low cargo floor, making loading and unloading easy.

The 2022 Honda Civic comes with the biggest cargo trunk, while the Nissan Sentra comes in second. On the other hand, the Toyota Corolla and Hyundai Elantra have smaller cargo trunks. Regardless, all the sedans can easily store three or four medium-sized bags and suitcases.

Additional Interior Storage Spaces

You get a small compartment and a pair of cup holders beside the gear shifter, along with a glovebox on the right and some space under the armrest. The SV and SR trims come with seatback pockets and a rear armrest with a pair of cup holders. Moreover, the doors come equipped with door bins.

2022 Nissan Sentra Creature Comforts

2022 Sentra is the most affordable car in the segment and comes with a respectable set of features. The base S trim comes equipped with cloth-trimmed seats, manually-adjustable front seats, power front windows, keyless entry, foldable rear seats, and a 4.2-inch color MID. The SV trim adds Nissan Intelligent Key, premium cloth upholstery, leather-wrapped steering wheel, a larger 7-inch customizable color MID, and more USB ports. Additionally, it can be equipped with an All-Weather Package and a Premium Package.

The SV All-Weather package adds heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, and remote start. The SV Premium package adds genuine leather upholstery, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, and a moonroof. The SR trim comes standard with a dual-zone automatic climate control, orange-stitched sport cloth seats, and a remote engine start. The SR Premium package gets you Prima-Tex leather upholstery, heated front seats, power-adjustable driver’s seat, heated steering wheel and moonroof. Nissan also introduced the Midnight Edition Package for 2022 MY.

The 2022 Sentra’s interior is undeniably the best in the segment. The cabin looks upscale for the price and the dashboard looks modern. You also get Zero Gravity seats, which Nissan is famous for. Also, both the front and rear seats come with excellent padding. The standard features list is decent, however, some features such as heated front seats and steering wheel, leather-appointed seats, power-adjustable driver’s seat and moonroof are only available via optional packages. So, we recommend you buy the SV trim with the Premium Package for enhanced driving experience.
