Trying to grab the spotlight the import/underdog in the hauling comes with the nametag of Titan XD by Nissan. Since its first generation, the Titan has come a long way from its humble beginnings and the second generation does pack a punch but will it be enough.
Endowed with a 5 liter V8 and a heavy duty frame shared with the NV, the Nissan Titan XD sure isn't here for a participating price. The 310hp and 555 lb-ft of torque are a testimonial to the seriousness of the lugging wars that this Japanese is set to face.
Unlike the slew of optional package options in Last Year’s Model, the 2019 model comes with only one Option pack namely the Midnight Edition package that adds 20” Black Wheels, Body Colored Front Grill, Black Door Handles and Black Step Rails on the diesel SL and SV 4X4 variants.

The Titan XD faces stiff competition from American brands and manages to punch above its weight in some areas but the Americans dominate the main features that are required for the job. The Titan XD does amazingly on some parameters like the towing and payload capacity but as an overall product, it fails to register sales.
The 2019 Nissan Titan XD Single Cab wants to make a name for itself in the Uber-Competitive Truck Market. The Big looking Truck can manage to tow what most Half Ton Trucks can't.
2019 Nissan Titan XD diesel Single Cab Features

2019 Nissan Titan XD diesel Single Cab Engine
Unlike the variety of powertrains available on light-duty rivals, the Titan makes do with a single engine and transmission combo. It lacks the impressive acceleration of its competitors most powerful engines, but it's quick when compared with similar-size V-8s Caranddriver.com
Engine and Transmission
The Titan XD uses a Cummins sourced 5.0L DOHC 32 Valve Direct Injection V8 motor that delivers 310hp and 555lbs-ft. The Engine has been in use for a while now and has been a potent performer while Cruising on the Highways or riding on the cities. The 500+ lbs-ft of Torque will come in handy while towing heavy loads.
Ford F150 Lariat
Ram 1500 HFE Quad Cab
Transmission duties are handled by an Aisin Sourced 6 Speed Automatic Transmission, which changes gears without much hesitation. The 6-speed automatic transmission seems underwhelming when compared to the 8-speed automatic transmission and severely compromised when put up with Ford F 150.
The V8 motor in the Nissan delivers crisp acceleration and the overall throttle response is better than the competition. The Engine feels eager to rev and overtake cars without losing much steam but alas when measured in the spirit of competition it falls appallingly short

Emission (Tons/yr of CO2 Emissions @ 15K mi/year)
Lagging behind its brethren by a large margin the NIssan fails to deliver even with a bigger engine than the others. With 9.4s on the clock the Nissan is behind by 2s and this translates to the longest quarter mile time too.
Ride and Handling
The Ride and Handling in the Nissan Titan XD is a bit of a mixed bag. While the Nissan has great manners on the Highways, City Roads and Over Smooth surfaces, it loses some of this over undulating surfaces or offroad. It's not in any way Uncomfortable or bad but the Stiffened suspension tend to prefer stay on Road. You can engage Low Range from 4WD with a Shift on Fly Rotary knob that does help the offroad cause of the Nissan.
You won't be disappointed with the ventilated, hydraulically boosted brakes of the Nissan Titan XD. The Brakes may feel soft at some instances but will do the job well in most situations.
60-0 MPH (ft.)
When The Nissan has a Trailer hitched behind its back, the excellent Trailer Sway Control offers great stability to the Truck and the overall handling of the Truck with a Trailer attached is one of the best in class.
The Nissan Titan XD can tow more than what many half ton pickup trucks in the market can. In our comparison today, it outshines the rest of the Trucks here by some margin. The Nissan can tow Small Powerboats, Trailers, Caravans and other similar sized stuff without much hiccups. The Performance doesn't take a toll or the engine doesn't strain as well while crossing Mountains or doing cross country journeys.
Towing Weight (lbs)
The unique Gooseneck hooks in the Rear Deck Bed of the Nissan offers easy connectivity options for Trailers that have Heavy Weights on them and is easily one of the most convenient ways of hooking a Trailer in its class.

2019 Nissan Titan XD diesel Single Cab Interior
Most full-size trucks carry their tougher-than-nails persona into the cabin, but Nissan has opted for a much friendlier, almost crossover like interior. Combine that friendly look with a smaller steering wheel and good ergonomics, and the Titan is a truck anyone will want to drive Edmunds.com
Seating and Comfort
One of the Strongholds of the Nissan Titan XD Single Cab is its seating and comfort. The Legroom and Headroom may not be class leading but are in no way disappointing. The Rear Seats are best suited for Small People or Children. There is enough of the same for most People but taller people will have a squeeze in sitting for long durations.
Front (Head/Shoulder/Leg) (In.)
Rear (Head/Shoulder/Leg) (In.)
One of the biggest USP's of the Titan XD is the Zero Gravity Front Seats. The Interior design itself isn't too inspiring but the practicality aspect is top notch. There is an abundance of Cup Holders in the Doors and Side Pockets while there are plenty of nifty storage places under the seats and in the doors that are good enough to keep Chainsaws, Hammers and other similar tools.
The 2019 Nissan Titan XD comes with Nissan's Connect infotainment system which is very intuitive and easy to use. However, against its Rivals, the Infotainment system in the Nissan feels very dated. Features like Apple Car Play and Android Auto have been given a miss and the system lacks the modern feel. Some features worth mentioning though are
Multiple USB Port connectivity
Bluetooth with navigation System
5 Driver's Info Display and 7 Multimedia Display
Sirius XM Satellite Radio with 3 Months Free subscription
2019 Nissan Titan XD diesel Single Cab Exterior
Save the blocky bodies and bulging behinds for its heavy-duty rivalsthe Titan XD has a more subdued, more streamlined appearance that's highlighted by a pair of praying-mantis-like headlights Caranddriver.com
Design and Dimensions
Nissan has drastically changed the design of the current generation Titan XD from the 1st Generation and has made it look similar in lines to its current rivals. This certainly helps it draw eyeballs among the masses but some people do tend to confuse it with the F-150. The overall design seems to have been designed to improve the aerodynamics of the Truck while maintaining the right proportions.
Exterior Features include
Unique design 18 wheels
LED Headlamps with DRL's
Off Road Shock Absorbers
Integrated Gooseneck Hitch
Extendable Tow Mirrors
The overall dimensions aren't the biggest in the class and the Nissan has a disadvantage in this aspect. The Nissan is the lengthiest in its segment but it also is the heaviest and this goes against its favor as this translates in lower fuel economies.
The Titan XD Single Cab's Cargo capacity is decent for keeping small tools like Chainsaws, Hammers and other tools. The Single Cab does have many usable spaces in the Cabin like Cup Holders in between the Front Seats, Storage spaces in door pockets, Magazine holders behind the Rear Seats and some other nifty spaces.
The Payload Capacity of the Titan XD Single Cab is the best in this comparison and ranks high in the class as well. The Titan has the Widest Loading bay in this comparison, which allows the Nissan to carry big loads like Big Drain Pipes or Engineering Tools like Wooden Cartons or Logs way easily than the others.
2019 Nissan Titan XD diesel Single Cab Safety
Nissan has continued to offer the same safety spec in the 2019 Titan XD Single Cab as it provided in the 2017 version. This is not a bummer as the 2017 Model did well in all Safety Tests and we expect the 2019 model to do the same.
Nissan has added a Motion Detector System in the Titan that helps drivers cope with the massive sized truck by balancing the weights of the Truck using a Rollover Sensor. Some other features include
Blind Spot Monitor
Rear Cross Traffic Alert
Front and Rear Parking Sensors
ABS on all 4 Wheels
Electronic Stability Control and Traction Control
Front, Side and Overhead Airbags
Optional 360 Degree Camera System
2019 Nissan Titan XD diesel Single Cab Competition
Nissan Titan XD Single Cab vs Ram 1500 Single Cab
The 1500 Single Cab has been a bestseller for Ram in the small Truck segment due to its versatility, endurance and durability. It has great fuel efficiency, good passenger space and features like Auto Headlamps as standard. However, Nissan offers important features like Hill Descent Control, Daytime Running Lamps as standard and offers Higher Torque than the RAM which we feel is important in this segment. The Nissan also comes with Japanese Reliability and Practicality as well. So, if a well-balanced product is what you want, the Nissan has its nose ahead.
Nissan Titan XD Single Cab vs. Ford F-150
The F-150 from Ford is usually the first truck that people think of when they think small trucks. It has been a bestseller for Ford for several years now because of its great usability and power. The Nissan Titan XD is no slouch either. The Nissan offers great reliability and dependability in terms of the Components used inside the Truck. It also offers great warranty and more Power than the Ford as well. Overall, we feel that the Nissan does deserve limelight which the Ford has been amassing till now.
2019 Nissan Titan XD diesel Single Cab Final Verdict
As Japanese automobile tradition of warranty and interiors continues in this car we must resist the urge to fall for this temptation. The Titan Xd is a weirdly equipped truck as it transcends classes. In this weight class it triumphs over other but if we move one class above it remains at the bottom of the table. So your choice must be entirely based on your needs.
