Porsche has been a status symbol for so many years that now it has become normal to associate its name with whatever you find exceptional. Styling, power, handling, and whatnot, all at once, are some of those normals of the Porsche lineups which are worth spending even those extra bucks if one is compelled to. Among all such demons, the exciting and inspiring stature of the Porsche 911 GT3 RS is surely one of the flagships that boast the brand standards.

The 911 GT3 is already an established performance phenomenon but the RS format takes things a bit further. Up against the likes of the equally capable Nissan GT-R, Audi R8, and the Acura NSX, the ride is definitely not going to be an easy one. Moreover, starting at a price of nearly $188,000, the Porsche 911 GT3 RS Coupe is the most expensive deal to own. But it will be interesting to gauge if this machinery will stand firm in the face of time.

2021 Porsche 911 GT3 RS Coupe Features

The 2021 Porsche 911 GT3 RS, as mentioned earlier, is one of a class in its stance considering different aspects. Right from the Leatherette and Alcantara covering all over the seats to the Simulated Suede steering wheel, one will be content with the premium touches. In addition to that, the GT3 RS logo is also embossed on the surface for an overall radiating appeal. Even the tech-end inside the cabin justifies the cost sheet with assets like the Real-Time Traffic Display, Porsche Vehicle Tracking System, and Porsche Communication Management. In the end, Dual Zone Front Automatic Air Conditioning further makes up for the leftovers in comfort and convenience.

Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic Panels

It is obvious to be driven by quality and build-material for those who choose to spend such a hefty amount. To one’s satiation, the Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic Panels along with a sandwich of aluminum-steel-magnesium attachments have been bestowed all around the frame and chassis which are perfectly apt for what’s desired. Apart from that, the safety suite with the values such as the Electronic Stability Control, Dual Stage Seat-Mounted Side Airbags, and Driveline Traction Control can further be upgraded to betterment with an extra investment.

Which Trim should you buy?

Since it is a single trim coupe, there is no muddling regarding preferring one over the other yet the concern of owning one poses a great challenge ahead. Though it is reasonably loaded with all you would expect, there is a pothole in its catalog and that is its relative pricing. High on ergonomics along with enriched 8-speaker audio set for one’s musical experience, there is hardly anything one can ask for except for a reduced price tag which might have improved the final proposition.

2021 Porsche 911 GT3 RS Coupe Engine and Performance

9.0/10

The Porsche 911 GT3 RS Coupe holds a beast in its belly that has a Flat-6 configuration with 4L capacity and corresponding inclination to thrust the power of 520 hp @ 8250 rpm and a torque of 346 lb-ft @ 6000 rpm. The powertrain is mated to a 7-Speed DCT meaning gear upshifting and downshifting will be as smooth as butter. As it is meant to be performance-oriented, the general layout of RWD comes as a standard. Capable of hitting more than 190 mph consistently with an acceleration of 3.2 seconds for the 0-60 mph mark and 11.5 seconds for a quarter-mile, the Porsche 911 GT3 RS does manage to bring in the showcase it represents. On top of that, the handing is also on the brighter side making city rides a pleasant one.

In terms of competition, the Porsche 911 GT3 RS receives a massive blow from the powertrain prowess of the Nissan GT-R and Acura NSX as both can do the same in less than 3 seconds ticking on the clock. Not just that, the Nissan GT-R seems to be a much better prospect with a top speed of more than 200 mph and that too with a price tag less than others by 30 grand at the minimum. If one has to sum up the analysis, the Porsche is miles away from challenging the benchmark as per the money on the line.

How well does the 2021 Porsche 911 GT3 RS Coupe handle?

There is no debate when it comes to one’s control over the stability of this performance coupe. The Sport Tuned Adaptive Suspension on offer is simply a gem at work as it maintains the ride height and frequency along with making sure that the camber at the front wheels remains negative for cornering traction. This, in turn, helps in extending the life cycles of tires that are subjected to such extreme driving conditions. The Driver Ride Control in pairing with the Automatic Rear Locking Differential also enhances the power delivery and its subsequent curbing.

The handling pursuit does not end here as the inherent Electric Power-Assist Steering is pretty responsive in its feedbacks and the 4-Wheel Vented-Disc Brakes ABS unit is as efficient as it is expected to be. The contact patch with 265/35ZR20 tires is also desirable and allows you to go on the flooring until it quenches your urge. Hence the Porsche 911 GT3 RS Coupe, without any hesitation, is well-organized performance machinery.

2021 Porsche 911 GT3 RS Coupe Braking Performance

The 15-inch disc rotors in the front and rear with 4-wheel ABS are the bare minimum one gets with the 2021 Porsche 911 GT3 RS. The braking unit is quite an efficient one as it brings such a power surge to halt within 96 ft. It is one of the finest figures among all the rivals. This is further expanded by other add-ons such as the Brake Assist, Hill Hold Control, and Electric Parking Brake. Though it fairly gels in the condition, it is believed that it could have been adorned with other standard features as well at such a price.

Lagging behind all is the Acura NSX with its baking travel of 103 ft yet it is manageable and worthy of all sorts of praise. This translates to the fact that the others in contention are much more potent and reliable in this segment where the Godzilla, Nissan GT-R, sets the best tone with a marginal gap of 2 ft. It is then followed by the Audi R8 and Porsche 911 GT3 RS with the same stats but it is that cost sheet that supports the Audi on a bigger picture.

2021 Porsche 911 GT3 RS Coupe Fuel Economy

6.9/10

If one has a knack for speed then fuel economy is certainly not a concern for him/her. That is pretty much evident with the engineering itself as the Porsche 911 GT3 RS returns a mileage of 15 mpg in the cities, 19 mpg on the highways, and an average economy of 16 mpg. With a 16.9-gallon fuel tank attached, the same can cover 321 miles at the max and 270 miles on a daily basis.

As this section is not of significance, one must avoid bringing this in finalizing one over another. The trend among all the rivals is more or less the same throughout the strata. Be it in cities or on the highways, the numbers vary by the slightest variance. While the Audi R8 is strikingly poor in its return, the bigger tank makes it appear the most attractive for a longer mile thrill and high-speed maneuvering. Being a by-product from Honda’s stable, the Acura NSX returns the highest mileage of 21 MPG and fairs decently even when the efficiency is concerned.

2021 Porsche 911 GT3 RS Coupe Interior

7.8/10

Porsche is one of the few who have pinnacled the secret formula for making the cabin as contrasting as possible. The Leatherette clouding or Alcantara trimming on the seats along with Carbon Fiber-finish on different panels and inserts are just perfect examples to underpin the above statement. The inside ambiance is regulated via Dual Zone Front Automatic Air Conditioning and selective power-assist for the seats give an additional dimension to its virtue. Though the steering column is adjustable, the power-adjustability for the same would have been more welcoming than the current one. The likes of Porsche Connect Plus and Speed Compensated Volume Control further improves the tech side as well.

As far as comparison is concerned, except for the Nissan GT-R, all settle with 2-passenger seating. On the other hand, the Nissan does not just accommodate more rather fits conveniently, especially children in the rear-row. Even the cargo capacity is enough in its measure for the same. The Porsche 911 GT3 RS, meanwhile, is decent in its offering and better than Audi and Acura badges but misses to take over the GT-R. And the accent, in the end, comes out to be fulfilling to depict the charm of this coupe.

Some of the features are:

What’s there to keep you entertained?

The 2021 Porsche 911 GT3 RS is home to many Porsche inclusive technologies like the Porsche Communication Management and Porsche Connect Plus. The 8-speaker audio unit along with SiriusXM satellite radio and HD Radio can take care of musical and audio streaming simultaneously. The Porsche Vehicle Tracking System and Real-Time Traffic Display have also been incorporated into it. Apart from the advanced values, the standard ones count the Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth Wireless Phone Connectivity, and a couple of LCD monitors.

2021 Porsche 911 GT3 RS Coupe Exterior

8.8/10

The Porsche 911 GT3 RS is as sporty on the outside as on the inside. The 9.5J x 20" Forged Aluminum Wheels in pairing with a wing spoiler in the rear are indicative of that vibe. The Projector Beam High-Intensity Headlamps might not look aggressive at the first glance rather incline towards a sober appearance but the silhouette is a different story altogether. When viewed from the sides, one can even spot the air intakes on the front fascia that are meant to assist in Ram Effect which tends to increase volumetric efficiency for the powertrain combustion cycle. Moreover, Aluminum, Steel, and Magnesium panels are other highlights of this functional design.

When you get such a boost at little revving then it becomes way too crucial to channel the power delivery with proper weight distribution and weight transfer. The lower wheelbase and lighter weight of the Porsche does exactly the same in aiding with minimized cornering shift. A ground clearance of just 3.8 inches also restricts airflow down the belly thus avoiding lift to a large extent. The rivals are also a fair proposition in this regard despite having a relatively larger weight with their respective handling against the undesired caster and camber.

2021 Porsche 911 GT3 RS Coupe Safety

7.8/10

Porsche has been attentive in making sure the frame they come up with is worthy of any crash and can tackle any vicissitude with ease. Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic along with Magnesium are some of the investments it has done over the years that make its chassis to be resilient against the impacts. The Electronic Stability Control and Driveline Traction Control are also there in its bin to assure safer travel. Sport Tuned Adaptive Suspension takes on the limelight with its impressive self-sufficient functioning to maintain the coupe’s overall dynamics. Having such an array is impressive yet the lack of advanced assets like the adaptive cruise control or blind-spot monitor as a standard is a bit disappointing.

Some of the features are:

  • Sport Tuned Adaptive Suspension
  • Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic Panels
  • Electronic Stability Control
  • Driveline Traction Control
  • Tire Specific Low Tire Pressure Warning
  • Dual Stage Seat-Mounted Side Airbags

2021 Porsche 911 GT3 RS Coupe Competition

2021 Porsche 911 GT3 RS vs 2021 Nissan GT-R

When one looks for the best, the Nissan GT-R and Porsche 911 GT3 RS are definite coupes that pop up on the window but the former is the limit that no one has reached to date. High-performance specs, more cabin spaciousness, higher seating capacity, and better range prospects with a far low price tag allow GT-R to keep the 911 GT3 RS out of the scene. Though the figures vary by significantly low margins, the Porsche is really heavy for your budget.

2021 Porsche 911 GT3 RS vs 2021 Audi R8

Though more expensive than Audi R8 yet the Porsche 911 GT3 RS does not beat the former in the number game. Be it range or top-speed, Audi offers much better results and approach which sways a huge customer base. The same is not true for acceleration or drag strips or braking efficiency as they are parallel in these stances. However, in terms of exterior styling, Audi is on the brighter side with more bold looks while Porsche has to settle with its soberness. Thus, it has to be Audi for now between the two.

2021 Porsche 911 GT3 RS vs 2021 Acura NSX Coupe

The two rivals are somewhat at par with one another in their cabin management but the Porsche restrains itself in its outer dimensions with a lighter weight that helps it achieve supreme handling. Once done with that, the Acura NSX starts the variation that marks major differences in their range coverage and acceleration. NSX is simply better than the other by a margin of nearly half a second and also a cheaper option in the market.

2021 Porsche 911 GT3 RS Coupe Final Verdict

8.1/10

The 2021 Porsche 911 GT3 RS is an engineering epic but it has yet to accomplish a lot to be named at the top of the list. First, it needs to improve on its offering and then manage to outclass the best ever Nissan GT-R with a reduced tag to compete. So, as of now, it is not a pick we would be suggesting.
