We expect the bookings for the 2022 model to start soon and the deliveries to begin early next year.

2022 Porsche 911 Turbo S Coupe Engine and Performance

The 2022 Porsche 911 Turbo S coupe will be a carry-forward model and it will be equipped with the same powertrain as that of the outgoing model. It will be powered by a 3.8L twin-turbocharged boxer-6 engine producing a thunderous 640 hp and ginormous 590 lb-ft of torque. The engine will be mated to an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and there will also be paddle shifters for a more engaging drive with a manual mode.

2022 Porsche 911 Turbo S Driving View

As per the current model, it will offer precise shifts and smooth acceleration without any objection to your hunger for the thrill. All the power is transferred to all four wheels and a launch control mode will be provided as standard. The handling will be as good as it can get for a car of its size and will inspire you to push it harder and thrash around corners without breaking a sweat.

The AMG GT R provides the maximum firepower from a larger engine of the lot but can’t beat the Porsche in terms of sheer acceleration. The Audi R8 and Huracan Evo come with the same engine capacity but their output is different and the R8 is faster off the line to 60 mph and quarter-mile as well. The Porsche is equipped with the smallest engine of the lot and yet it provides better torque, acceleration, and top speed as compared to its rivals.

2022 Porsche 911 Turbo S Coupe Fuel Economy

When comparing high-performance cars, fuel economy hardly matters but the Porsche 911 Turbo S is expected to offer slightly better fuel efficiency than its competitors. Just like the outgoing model, it will offer about 15 mpg in the city, 20 mpg on the highway, and 17 mpg in combined driving conditions. With a fuel tank capacity of 17.6 gallons, it can travel up to 264 miles in the city, 352 miles on the highway, and 300 miles in mixed driving conditions.

All the cars are closely matched in terms of fuel efficiency figures but differ in range owing to differences in their fuel tank capacities. The AMG GT and Huracan Evo are equipped with larger fuel tanks and the AMG GT offers the highest range, followed by Audi R8, Huracan Evo, and 911 Turbo S. The Porsche 911Turbo S offers the least range despite being fuel-efficient, owing to a smaller fuel tank.

2022 Porsche 911 Turbo S Coupe Interior

The 2022 Porsche 911 Turbo S will be based on the 2021 model and no changes are expected in the interior of the car. So you can expect the same level of quality and sporty elements in the cabin. The dashboard will be laid out in an ergonomic fashion and all the controls will be in easy reach of the front passengers. The instrument cluster will come with a central tachometer and two 7-inch TFT displays will be placed on its side. It will come in a 2+2 seater configuration, albeit the rear seats are best suitable for kids and adults must be spared from that area.

2022 Porsche 911 Turbo S Front Seats

The adaptive sport seats will be trimmed in smooth leather and come with 18-way power adjustability with a memory package. The GT-inspired steering wheel with paddle shifters will ensure a sportier driving experience. The front seats will be heated as well and the dual-zone climate control system will ensure comfortable conditions in the cabin. The front and rear cargo areas provide about 13.8 cu-ft of space when combined together. Also, there will be a provision to extend cargo capacity by folding rear seats.

Some of the standout interior features are:

  • Dual-zone climate control system

The Porsche 911 Turbo S sits on a shorter wheelbase as compared to the competition which helps with more responsive handling. It is also taller than its rivals while the Audi R8 is the widest. The AMG GT and Huracan Evo are the longest of the lot at 179-inches. Some of the standout infotainment features are:

  • Rear fender air intakes
  • Recessed door handles
  • Power folding exterior mirrors
  • Matrix design LED headlights
  • Automatic headlight activation

2022 Porsche 911 Turbo S Coupe Safety

Like the 2021 model, the structure of the 2022 911 Turbo S coupe will be made from lightweight construction from a composite of steel and aluminum, helping with weight reduction and providing required rigidity as well. Both the NHTSA and IIHS have not tested the Porsche 911 Turbo S coupe and we don’t expect it to be tested anytime soon. However, we are aware of the built quality of the Porsche and with available standard features, it is bound to make you feel safe. The 911 Turbo S coupe also comes with a special “Porsche Wet mode” as a standard to help you maintain control in rainy weather conditions. Some of the standout safety features are:

  • Porsche side impact protection system
  • Warn and brake assist
  • ParkAssist with reversing camera
  • Porsche Wet mode
  • Anti-theft alarm system

2022 Porsche 911 Turbo S Coupe Competition

2022 Porsche 911 Turbo S Coupe V/S Mercedes-AMG GT R

The Mercedes-AMG GT is a very capable car in its own respect. It ticks most of the right boxes and feels at home on the track. The melody from its V-8 is a treat to the ears and the engaging driving experience is a plus too. However, the infotainment system on the 911 Turbo S coupe is slightly better than the AMG GT R. It also offers more cargo capacity than the AMG GT R. But the Porsche is more expensive too.

2022 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT R Three Quarter View

2022 Porsche 911 Turbo S Coupe V/S 2022 Audi R8

The Audi R8 is a formidable name in the sports coupe segment and its V-10 powerhouse is a clear reason for it. The performance is as thrilling as it can get and the overall styling of the car, though subtle, is definitely distinct from others. It is also a car that you would like to use as your daily driver. It is also less expensive than the Porsche 911 Turbo S coupe but it can’t quite match its handling. The 911 also offers better cargo capacity than the Audi R8.

2022 Audi R8 Three Quarter View

2022 Porsche 911 Turbo S Coupe V/S 2022 Lamborghini Huracan Evo

The Lamborghini Huracan Evo is very aggressive with its performance and styling too. It is unlike any other car on the road and is also instantly recognisable. The 911 Turbo S coupe performs better than the Huracan Evo and is also priced very closely to it. It is also more fuel efficient than the Huracan Evo and offers much better cargo capacity as well. Aesthetically the Huracan Evo is a stunner but can’t match the 911 Turbo S in terms of handling and sheer performance.

2022 Porsche 911 Turbo S Coupe Final Verdict

The new Porsche 911 Turbo S will come with an exorbitant pricing tag and it makes itself very clear that it's not for everyone. The 911 Turbo S coupe is the very epitome of the Porsche Engineering team and it offers physics-defying handling and performance to match it. It will also come with a good safety quotient as well. It has all the characteristics of the Porsche and can grant you an experience like no other in its segment. So, if your bank balance permits, you can surely buy one.
