Expert Review, Pricing Analysis and Buying Guide

The 2021 Porsche Cayenne Coupe is a more compact version of the Porsche Cayenne SUV. It's elegant and very powerful, more fun to drive. The Cayenne Coupe is the car that's redefining the SUV. Not only does it make driving easier, but it also sounds better thanks to the powerful sound system and redesigned exhaust tips. It competes against other premium SUVs like the Audi Q8, BMW X6, and Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 Coupe.

2021 Porsche Cayenne Coupe Features

Porsche's Cayenne Coupe is a performance-driven midsize luxury SUV that comes in six trim levels, namely base, E-Hybrid, S, GTS, Turbo, and Turbo S E-Hybrid. The main difference between trim levels is the engine under the hood, though they do typically add a few extra features as the levels progress. All trim levels are equipped with all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission. We are going to review the Base trim, while the rest of the trims will be reviewed separately.

In line with the Porsche reputation, all trims come well equipped and loaded with features. The Base trim starts at $76,500 and comes with all the essential stuff as standards like leather upholstery, eight-way power-adjustable front seats, a power liftgate, dual-zone automatic climate control, front and rear parking sensors, rain-sensing windshield wipers, 12.3-inch touch screen, a navigation system, Apple CarPlay, a 10-speaker stereo, satellite radio, four USB ports, and alloy wheels.

Which trim should you buy?

The Porsche Cayenne Coupe lineup for 2021 comes in six trims, but the base model comes in a single, well-equipped trim with a price tag of $76,500. This would be even better with enhanced safety and driver-assistance features found in the optional assistance package or premium plus package.

2021 Porsche Cayenne Coupe Engine and Performance

The 2021 Porsche Cayenne Coupe is powered by a 3.0-liter V6 engine assisted by twin turbochargers. Together, it is capable of churning out 335 horses of power and 332 pounds of torque. It is safe to say that all the coupes mentioned above exhibit similar power characteristics and even similar performance figures. The Mercedes AMG GLE 53 Coupe is an exception as it surpasses all its competitors with a staggering 429 horsepower and class-leading 384 pounds of torque. It is the BMW X6 that is the fastest, followed by the Audi Q8 but not by much.

How well does the 2021 Porsche Cayenne Coupe handle?

Even though the 2021 Porsche Cayenne Coupe is classified as an SUV, it drives like a sports car. This car exhibits a dynamic handling style, with its steering being deft and eager to turn. The suspension helps smooth out most road bumps despite its stiffness. On the Cayenne Coupe, you'll notice a bit of harshness due to the larger wheels.

There is no terrain too tough for the Cayenne coupe. As well as its upright, wide stance, its all-terrain wheels are equipped with sliding-proof treads for increased stability on slippery surfaces. Porsche has designed the 2021 Cayenne Coupe for maximum performance, whether you are driving in the city or highway.

2021 Porsche Cayenne Coupe Braking Performance

In the Porsche Cayenne 2021, new hybrid brakes are equipped with electromagnetic and hydraulic power units to generate significant deceleration. It helps direct the braking pressure to all four wheels effectively, and the intelligent ABS system also provides additional stopping power when it comes to the electronic brake distribution system (EBD). Additionally, the car has a ‘Brake Assist’ feature that boosts stopping power through pneumatic and hydraulic actuators.

With its 13.8-inch diameter front rotors and 13.1-inch diameter rear rotors, the car can be slowed down easily. Porsche's Cayenne Coupe comes to a complete halt from 60 mph in just 121 feet thanks to its excellent braking system. The corporate cousin Audi Q8 stops at 121 ft, which is the best figure in comparison, which is followed by the BMW X6.

2021 Porsche Cayenne Coupe Fuel Economy

The 2021 Porsche Cayenne Coupe amazes with impressive fuel economy for a mid-size luxury SUV, which is rare for mid-size luxury SUVs in general. On the highway, the car gets 23 mpg, while in the city, it gets 19 mpg, and in the combined mode, it gets 20 mpg. The car can drive up to 474 miles on a single tank of fuel with its fuel tank capacity of 23.7 gallons. Compared to its competitors, this vehicle performs very well in terms of fuel economy.

Taking a close look at these figures, it is apparent that all of the Coupes return impressive mpg values. As for fuel economy, there is no comparison with the BMW X6, which gets 23 mpg combined. Mercedes AMG's GLE 53 and Audi's Q8 both offer decent fuel economy, while not being as good as Porsche's Cayenne Coupe.

2021 Porsche Cayenne Coupe Interior

The 2021 Porsche Cayenne Coupe interior is crafted for outstanding performance. The materials are carefully selected to ensure the car feels luxurious and high-quality. In the cabin, you will have more control over your surroundings, so every drive feels as though you are interacting with your vehicle. With the driver at its core, each detail in the interior has been thoughtfully designed.

The 2021 Porsche Cayenne Coupe is a four-seater SUV with two rows of seating. Comfortable and generously padded, the front seats offer excellent support even during long road trips. The rear seats are also premium, leather-upholstered, and offer an equally supportive environment. Both rows offer ample head- and legroom for tall passengers. Leather seats are standard; heated and ventilated seats (front and rear) are available. The Cayenne has 22 cubic feet of cargo space behind its rear seats.

All of the rival cars have similar interiors and can accommodate up to five people in relative comfort; however, large adults may find it difficult to fit in the Cayenne's rear row. The BMW X6 and Audi Q8 come with a much larger cargo area, while the Porsche Cayenne Coupe is smaller. Standard interior features of the 2021 Porsche Cayenne Coupe include:

  • Leather upholstery
  • Power-adjustable steering wheel
  • Heated front and rear seats
  • Faux suede headliner
  • Dual-zone climate control
  • Remote keyless entry

How intuitive is the 2021 Porsche Cayenne Coupe Infotainment System?

The 2021 Porsche Cayenne offers an immersive infotainment system. It comes standard with the latest Porsche Communication Management system. A common feature of the Porsche Communication Management infotainment system is that it is intuitive to operate. Having a large 12.4-inch touch screen allows for flexible configuration and responds quickly to inputs. This glossy finish, however, leaves behind fingerprints and dirt easily.

The sound system is a 10-speaker setup that is good enough for common daily errands and commutes. If you want a more immersive music experience, you can get a Bose Surround Sound System or even a Burmester 3D Surround Sound System. As an addition to this, Rear Seat Entertainment Connect or Connect Plus systems can be added as well for enthralling your rear-seat passengers. All the standard Infotainment features are listed below:

  • 12.4-inch touchscreen
  • 14-speaker Bose surround-sound system
  • Bluetooth and 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot
  • Navigation
  • SiriusXM satellite radio
  • Apple CarPlay
  • Four USB ports
  • Available wireless device charging
  • Available 21-speaker Burmester surround sound system
  • Available rear-seat entertainment system with dual 10-inch touch screens

2021 Porsche Cayenne Coupe Exterior

The 2021 Porsche Cayenne Coupe is one of the most advanced SUVs in the world. It's not your typical SUV; it has intelligence, captivating curves, and an amazing body. With distinctive styling, it's immediately apparent that the Porsche Cayenne Coupe is in a class of its own — and not just in size. This muscular SUV blends power with elegance to create an aura of true presence and confidence. The exterior of the Porsche Cayenne for the 2021 MY received no major upgrades, as LED headlights with daytime running lights are standard, as are LED taillights and front and rear parking sensors.

Dynamism, performance, and prestige: this is what the 2021 Cayenne Coupe stands for. As a result of the striking appearance and instantly recognizable profile, the car presents a distinctly sporty and powerful impression. Moreover, the intakes on the front end of the vehicle enable sufficient airflow to the six radiators to provide cooling for components under the floor as part of Porsche thermal management.

Porsche's other sports cars tend to wear compact and very sharp proportions, but the Cayenne Coupe, being an SUV, is bulky and aerodynamically stable at the same time. The Audi Q8 is the heaviest and is also the longest which is a key factor for its spacious legroom. By comparison, the BMW X6 is the most compact vehicle on this list. Some standout exterior features of the 2021 Porsche Cayenne Coupe Convertible include:

  • LED Headlights and 4-point LED DRLs
  • 3D LED Taillights
  • Rain-sensing windshield wiper
  • Rear wiper
  • Rear privacy glass
  • Power-folding, heated side mirrors
  • 21-inch wheels
  • Rear spoiler

2021 Porsche Cayenne Coupe Safety

It is well-known that premium luxury vehicles don't undergo safety testing, and the 2021 Porsche Cayenne Coupe is no exception. Neither the IIHS nor the NHTSA has tested the 2021 Porsche Cayenne Coupe. This vehicle, however, comes with a variety of safety features and in-car assistance options that ensure driver safety. Designed to offer a safe, secure, and comfortable driving experience, the Porsche Cayenne Coupe crushes the streets with its Turbo-charged engine. As with all Porsche vehicles, safety is paramount with features like Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Stabilization Program (ESP), Advanced TPM (tire pressure monitoring).

In the 2021 Cayenne Coupe, many safety features will be available including warning and brake assist, Porsche side-impact protection system, park assist (front and rear sensors) with a reversing camera, cruise control, tire pressure monitoring system, traction control, among others. With the assistance package, you can add advanced driver aids such as traffic sign recognition, night vision assist, and lane-keep assist as additional options. Apart from these, there are other safety features that are listed below:

2021 Porsche Cayenne Coupe Competition

2021 Porsche Cayenne Coupevs 2021 BMW X6

With its impressive reputation, the BMW X6 always has a place among the SUV Coupes. As of 2021, it is again a top performer in all aspects, from fuel economy to overall safety. While the 2021 BMW X6 lacks some of the X5's utility, it still delivers performance without sacrificing design. The 2021 Porsche Cayenne, on the other hand, is a powerful and stylish sports sedan that can carry a family with ease. On the downside, it is more expensive than the BMW.

2021 Porsche Cayenne Coupe vs 2021 Audi Q8

A popular SUV with outstanding performance and utility is the Audi Q8. However, it is much more challenging to maneuver in and out of tight spots with the Audi Q8 than with the Porsche Cayenne. The Porsche Cayenne and Audi Q8 both have about the same towing capacity, so you can tow just as much with the Audi Q8. The Porsche Cayenne is much more powerful than Audi Q8 when it comes to horsepower. Both Audi Q8 and Porsche Cayenne provide seating for about the same number of passengers. But again, the Audi is more affordable than the Cayenne Coupe.

2021 Porsche Cayenne Coupe vs 2021 Mercedes AMG GLE 53 Coupe

There are many similarities between the Cayenne Coupe and Mercedes-Benz AMG GLE 53 Coupe, including their price points. Due to its larger turning radius than the Porsche Cayenne Coupe, the GLE 53 Coupe is much more difficult to maneuver into and out of tight spots. Furthermore, the GLE 53 Coupe is not as agile as the Cayenne Coupe. Both the Porsche Cayenne Coupe and the GLE 53 Coupe will require similar amounts of gas stops since they exhibit similar mpg figures. On a positive note, the GLE 53 Coupe has more standard safety features than the Cayenne.

2021 Porsche Cayenne Coupe Final Verdict

The new Porsche Cayenne Coupe is the perfect companion for driving enthusiasts. The interior is amazing with no signs of bad material usage. The ride quality is nice and the handling enhances the driving experience making it fun to drive. The infotainment system can be considered as one of the best ones in this price range. However, its rear seat configuration might be difficult for long-limbed adults. As well as these features, you can count on the 2021 Porsche Cayenne Coupe to be a great addition to your garage. It assists you with all your daily needs, and you will have a smile on your face every time you take the wheel.
