As per the deeming demand and more success of the sports vehicles, SUVs kind of fading off in front of the fast, quick and agile sports coupe by the top class brands. So to keep the SUV market hot and running Porsche picked some attributes of their sports coupe segment and mixed it with the SUV and that’s how the Cayenne Coupe was made back in 2020. Its sporty characteristics and sleek body style attracted a lot of customers to Porsche’s doorstep and that line doesn’t seem to be fading.

We Recommend

Porsche launched its Cayenne Coupe Turbo S E-hybrid model and here the Coupe means that it shares some sleek design attributes of a coupe while maintaining the SUV appeal. Right now Cayenne Coupe Turbo S E-hybrid is the most powerful model in the Cayenne Coupe line-up and it doesn’t seem like Porsche will introduce a much more powerful SUV. The driving dynamics and handling of the vehicle will be the same as the current one and it comes with plenty of basic and advanced features like remote vehicle status, upgraded adaptive suspension, 14-speaker Bose surrounds sound system, and much more. The vehicle is an overall package of an SUV and a Coupe and it will continue to follow the same trend in 2022.

2022 Porsche Cayenne Coupe Turbo S E-hybrid Release Date

Porsche hasn’t released or announced any solid date or news about the launch of the new 2022 version of the Cayenne Coupe Turbo S E-hybrid but they have surely confirmed the upcoming models of the Cayenne Coupe line-up vehicles. So, we just have to tighten our seatbelts and have to wait for the news that might arrive at the end of 2021 and actual vehicles rolling into the showrooms later in the early summers.

2022 Porsche Cayenne Coupe Turbo S E-hybrid SUV Engine and Performance

6.0/10

The 2021 version of the Porsche Cayenne Coupe Turbo S E-hybrid is powered by the combination of an engine and an electric motor, the 2022 model will also share the same powertrain. The combination consists of a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 gas engine which produces a max power of 541 hp and 567 lb-ft of torque and an electric motor that is powered by a 17kWh battery that produces 134 hp of max power and 295 lb-ft of torque. When in combination, both engine and motor delivers 670hp and 663 lb-ft of torque and makes it the most powerful Cayenne Coupe.

To match the power and torque figures of the Cayenne Coupe Turbo S E-hybrid, Porsche uses the 8-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission with manual actuators and paired it with the V8 gas engine which then further transfers the power to the active all-wheel-drive system. The AWD system of Porsche uses the map-controlled multi-plate clutch with automatic brake differential and anti-slip regulation to improve the handling and dynamics of the vehicle. The sports SUV can accelerate from a standstill to 60 mph within just 3.6 seconds and can track with the top speed of 183 mph.

The Porsche Cayenne Coupe Turbo S E-hybrid is clearly the most powerful one amongst all four vehicles, all four vehicles are driven by the plug-in hybrid powertrain but no SUV matches the handling and the driving dynamics of the Porsche. The Cayenne Coupe Turbo S E-hybrid outperforms every vehicle with its 0 to 60mph acceleration in 3.6 seconds, Bentley Bentayga Hybrid sits on the second position in the list in terms of performance figures as it can accelerate within 5.2 seconds under the same conditions. Besides Porsche and Bentley other two Lincoln Aviator Grand Touring and Land Rover Range Rover perform terribly and don’t even stand in the same league as Porsche.

2022 Porsche Cayenne Coupe Turbo S E-hybrid SUV Fuel Economy

2.0/10

The hybrid system of the 2022 Porsche Cayenne Coupe Turbo S E-hybrid will use a combination of gas and electricity to power the vehicle. The vehicle will be getting the 19.8 gallons of fuel tank whereas the electric motor will run with the help of a 179 kWh battery pack. The upcoming model will be using the corresponding powertrain so the fuel economy will also be similar. The current model claims 15 mpg in the city driving, 19 mpg on the straight highways, and 17 mpg under the combined conditions, all these figures are the result of the gas engine only. The motor can drive the vehicle straight for 22 miles with a fully charged battery.

The power and performance figures of the Porsche Cayenne Coupe Turbo S E-hybrid clearly take their toll on the fuel economy, it performs badly in terms of fuel efficiency of the gasoline engine but the electric range is somewhat decent as per its sporty performance. Other SUVs like Bentley and Land Rover Range Rover claim slightly better than the Porsche, whereas the Lincoln Aviator Grand Touring can be seen claiming 23 mpg in the combined conditions and 22 miles of pure electric range which is impressive by keeping in mind the 13.6 kWh of a small battery.

2022 Porsche Cayenne Coupe Turbo S E-hybrid SUV Interior

4.0/10

Inside the Cayenne Coupe Turbo S E-hybrid, the cabin is decorated with premium and soft-touch leather upholstery with cross brushed aluminum trims. The front and rear row seats are quite comfy and spacious, the adaptive air suspension really does its job and improves the ride quality and handling of the car. Both front and rear seats have been set in the lowered position with sporty arches, bolstering, and integrated headrests. The front two seats support the 18-way power-adjustability for the driver and the passenger with the memory settings, whereas the heated function is available on all four seats.

The roof lining and steering wheel are covered with the Alcantara and it feels lovely to stroke, the steering wheel comes with the power-adjustable tilt, telescopic & heated feature with the aluminum pedal shifters. The cabin is also packed with the goodies like wonderful haptic for the awesome touch response, a rain radar, Dual-zone automatic climate control with air quality sensor, the rear passengers can also control the blower speed and temp settings for the rear air vents.

The Lincoln Aviator Grand Touring is the only one in the competition with the third row and occupancy for 6 people as standard and due to the sporty attributes, the Porsche Cayenne Coupe Turbo S E-hybrid supports seats for only 4 people including the driver. As the data of Porsche’s Cayenne is missing, so nothing can be said about it but one thing is for sure that the Lincoln Aviator is the spacious one in the first row seats, while Land Rover Range Rover takes the second place. In second-row seats, Land Rover Range Rover Autobiography shines much more brightly than the others, the third row of Lincoln isn’t suitable for adults but besides having a third row it still manages to have more cargo capacity than the Porsche & Bentley Bentayga Hybrid. Some highlights of the interior features are:

  • Dual-zone automatic climate control with air quality sensor
  • Particle/Pollen Filter with active carbon filter
  • 18-way power-adjustable front seats with memory settings

How intuitive is the infotainment system?

The powertrain, ride quality, and handling isn’t the only exciting thing about the Porsche Cayenne Coupe Turbo S E-hybrid, one more interesting thing about the vehicle is its 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system which supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Wired Android Auto Smartphone integration. On the Premium 14-speaker Bose surround sound system, one can enjoy their favorite jam while riding through the corners, the touchscreen system runs smoothly without any lags and stutters and it’s also quite easy to learn the usage of the system.

Other than these, the vehicle features a wifi hotspot, Bluetooth connectivity, AUX audio input, USB type-C, and much more. The 2022 Porsche Cayenne Coupe Turbo S E-hybrid will feature the corresponding features as the current one. Some highlights of the infotainment system of the 2022 Porsche Cayenne Coupe Turbo S E-hybrid:

  • 12.3-inch touchscreen display
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay & wired Android Auto
  • Bluetooth connectivity
  • Voice recognition
  • AUX audio input
  • Wi-fi hotspot connectivity
  • 14-Speaker Bose surround sound system

2022 Porsche Cayenne Coupe Turbo S E-hybrid SUV Exterior

2.0/10

The front resembles the typical Porsche design, the big automatic LED headlights with four-point LED DRLs in each headlight. The massive front grille is divided into three parts, one in the middle and the other two on either side of the front end, these grilles help to cool down the 4.0-L, twin-turbo V8 gas engine. On the side, the Cayenne Coupe Turbo S E-hybrid features the 21-inch Aero-Design alloy wheels which can be upgraded to the bigger and lighter 22-inch alloys under the carbo package. Behind the wheels, one can easily find the front 10-piston aluminum caliper with 440mm rotors and rear 4-piston aluminum calipers with 410 mm rotors, the braking system of the Cayenne Coupe features the ventilation technology for the cooling of the rotors and to prevent the brakes from failure.

With the carbon package, the normal roof is being converted into a carbon-fiber roof without any panoramic sunroof. The height of the vehicle is lowered by 20 mm to achieve the driving dynamics of a coupe and on the left, behind the rear door panel, one can spot the charging port for the 17.9 kWh battery. From the rear side, Porsche has given the Cayenne Coupe the three-dimensional LED taillights with four-point brake lights and a light strip. The rear spoiler lifts up after the vehicle reaches the speed of 56mph to provide more traction to the wheels.

It might be a great coincidence that both Porsche and Lincoln have an even curb weight of 5673 pounds and it’s a surprise to see that even with the third-row Lincoln is slightly shorter than the Bentley Bentayga hybrid. Here, Porsche is radiating its Coupe characteristics with the least height, average width, and lowest wheelbase amongst the rivals which certainly grat it the ability to take sharp turns and over the top handling. The long-wheelbase of Lincoln Aviator Grand Touring is a problem as it makes it hard for the vehicle to take turns easily. Some highlights of the exterior feature are:

  • Automatic LED headlights and DRLs
  • 21-inch AeroDesign wheels
  • 4-point LED DRLs in each headlight
  • Wheel center caps with colored Porsche Crest

2022 Porsche Cayenne Coupe Turbo S E-hybrid SUV Safety

2.0/10

Currently, the Porsche Cayenne Coupe Turbo S E-hybrid costs around $167,800, and as it can be seen that it would not be super light on the pocket of the Porsche to send not one but two vehicles for the crash tests at recognized organizations. This can be the main reason behind it not being tested by the NHTSA and IIHS yet but it doesn’t mean that it’s unsafe to drive on the roads.

Porsche is one of the leading automobile manufacturers which is known for its luxury and sports vehicles, it has gained the trust of the audience by offering them a safe & reliable product, and just like every other vehicle of Porsche’s the Cayenne Coupe Turbo S E-hybrid is loaded with a lot of safety features like forward collision warning, emergency automatic braking, surround-view parking camera, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist and much more. 2022 Porsche Cayenne Coupe Turbo S E-hybrid SUV Competition

Porsche Cayenne Coupe Turbo S E-hybrid Vs Bentley Bentayga Hybrid

The Porsche Cayenne Coupe Turbo provides a sporty experience with the sporty cabin and sports seats, while Bentley Bentayga Hybrid is more of a luxury vehicle in its cabin one would feel like a royal. Bentley isn’t made for tracks and not to compete with the other sports vehicle in track timings, its powertrain generates more power than it needs and its cabin is more suited for luxury living with over-the-top comfort and lots of convenience features.

Porsche Cayenne Coupe Turbo S E-hybrid Vs Lincoln Aviator Grand Touring

The Lincoln Aviator Grand Touring should be in the competition list of hybrid luxury and sports vehicles as it costs way less than the others but still, it features great performance figures like 0 to 60 mph in just 5.4 seconds and it also comes with a standard seating capacity for 6 people. On the other hand, Lincoln can’t match the sporty vibes and agile handling of the Porsche Cayenne Coupe Turbo S E-hybrid and Porsche’s cabin material and comfort it way better than that of Lincoln. It’s the price tag and long EV range that make the Lincoln Aviator a great competitor.

Porsche Cayenne Coupe Turbo S E-hybrid Vs Land Rover Range Rover Autobiography PHEV

Land Rover is best known for its off-roading traits yet maintaining the luxury suite-like cabin appeal. Its vehicles never fail to impress us but here the Land Rover Range Rover Autobiography PHEV fades away as it is 2.8 slower than the Porsche. Although Range Rover Autobiography PHEV lacks in performance it certainly shines in the cabin space and the overall luxury comfort and convenience. Land Rover also has a bigger fuel tank which increases the range of the vehicle combined with better fuel economy.

2022 Porsche Cayenne Coupe Turbo S E-hybrid SUV Final Verdict

The Porsche Cayenne Coupe Turbo S E-hybrid is a great SUV for those who want an SUV with super sporty traits just like a coupe but it must feel like an SUV as well. Porsche has a bunch of vehicles in its garage that ticks all these boxes but Cayenne Coupe Turbo S E-hybrid is the only one that ticks the boxes of performance and most powerful engine.

Power and performance aren’t the only feats of this vehicle, the lowered height and low positioned sports grants it the driving dynamics of a coupe with optimized handling on the corners one will feel the urge to push the accelerator much harder. That all being said, Porsche Cayenne Coupe Turbo S E-hybrid will continue to be available in the market for the desired customers in the 2022 year, one might expect some minor interior and exterior upgrades which will give it a slightly refreshed look yet retaining the 2021 core styling.
