The $179,800 Panamera Turbo S is the most powerful Panamera and can complete the acceleration test in a mind-blowing 2.9 seconds. The luxury interior of the Panamera has the finest attention to detail and boasts a modern design layout. Although it can seat only 4 people, it offers ample passenger space, especially the Executive models. The Porsche Panamera is much better than the average luxury sedan in terms of driving fun- Edmunds

The Porsche Panamera is a beast in its own right and is always praised for its design, luxury, and of course its performance. This luxury sedan offers an ample amount of practicality and performance one could ever imagine. Combine that with great reliability. Now that Android Auto has been added this year, the Panamera sports all the features one could ask for in a luxury sedan.

Now that the 2022 Panamera is released, the estimated lease price starts from $1,286 for a period of 48 months. A downpayment of $9,930 has to be paid to the dealer at the time of purchase. Being an ultra-luxury sedan, the ownership costs are obviously high. If you plan on buying the Panamera, get ready to shell out at least $100,000 total for 5 years. This includes repair, fuel, maintenance, etc.

2022 Porsche Panamera Buying Advice

Even the base Panamera is able to meet your needs as it offers a long list of features. We recommend opting for the Assistance Package that adds a head-up display, adaptive cruise control, and a surround-view monitor. If you want to experience the best luxury features, we suggest you buy the Premium Package too.

The Porsche Panamera is available in three trims- Base, 4, and 4S. Porsche has released the pricing of the 2022 Panamera and it ranges between $88,400 and $117,700. Gear changes can be left to Porsche’s excellent PDK twin-clutch 8-speed automatic- Kelly Blue Book

The Porsche Panamera continues the same powertrain options for the upcoming 2022 model year. A 2.9L turbocharged V6 powers the Base and 4 trim. This engine makes 325 hp and 331 lb-ft. of torque. The 4S trim gets the same unit but the power and torque are boosted to 443 hp and 405 lb-ft. of torque. It is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. Only the base model come standard with an RWD drivetrain while the rest of the trims get a standard AWD system.

2022 Porsche Panamera Sedan Engine Bay

The Panamera drives and handles like a sports car. You take a sharp turn at high speed and yet the tires are glued to the road. Even the base model comes standard with an adaptive air suspension. That means the damping changes according to the road conditions. Put it in the Sport or Sport Plus mode, the suspension becomes firmer and hunkered down to the ground. The steering feedback is phenomenal. It is quick, responsive, and turns the car effortlessly in the direction you want it to go.

2022 Porsche Panamera front driving view

In terms of performance, the Panamera is a quick car. It does 0-60 in 5.3 seconds, which is quite good. Floor it harder and the quarter-mile run is covered in 13.6 seconds with a top speed of 168 MPH. The powerful 4S trim does the same stunt in just 4 seconds. When you step on the accelerator, the Panamera just flies and there's performance everywhere. To put a hold on the Panamera's speed, strong and effective brakes are fitted. These brakes can bring the Panamera to a smooth stoop from 60 MPH in 99 feet.

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class outperforms the other cars with some margin but also costs a lot more. The 4773-pound Audi A8 L does a wonderful job in hiding its weight and sharing the same acceleration time with the Panamera. The BMW 7 Series's performance is also on the same level but its driving dynamics are different than the Panamera.

No version of the Panamera is eco-friendly- The Car Connection

The EPA ratings of the Porsche Panamera for the 2022 mode year have not been released yet. Therefore, we are considering the fuel rating of the 2021 model year as there won't be any changes in the powertrain. It is rated at 18 MPG in the city, 24 MPG on a highway, and 20 MPG combined. Compared to the competition, these ratings are the lowest.

2022 Porsche Panamera front driving view

The 4S trim houses an upgraded version of the V6 engine, making more power and yet, its fuel economy is equal to the base Panamera.  This is really impressive. That is added up for the combined range of 474 miles, which is below average in the segment. The Executive models drop down the fuel economy by 1 MPG in each category and these models can drive up to 450 miles only.

The BMW 7 Series has the best mileage figures and tops the table. The Mercedes-Benz S-Class tries to keep up with the 7 Series but it couldn't courtesy of its powerful engine. The Audi A8 L's fuel efficiency is quite decent for the power it makes. The Panamera outs out almost similar figures to the A8 L but it is the least efficient car here.

Porsche's Panamera boasts a driver-focused cabin that looks and feels every bit as luxurious as its steep price would have you believe- CarAndDriver

The Porsche Panamera's interior sees no changes this year. The cabin style is unique and built from high-quality materials to match the luxury. The sedan gets a cabin capacity of up to 4 people which is less than the competition but there is no compromise on comfort. The whole cabin is almost wrapped in leather, including the three-spoke steering wheel that feels premium to hold. The center console features a touch panel for all the settings. Every single click has a very tactile and rich feel to it.

2022 Porsche Panamera cockpit

Coming to the seats, they are very comfortable to sit on. The front seats can be power-adjusted in 8 different ways with standard heated functionality. Ventilated and massaged front and rear seats can be bought for extra cash. Although the dimensions for the cabin are not available, the Panamera offers a pretty decent head and legroom for the seating rows. In case you feel the legroom does not meet your standards, the Executive model adds limousine-like space at the back.

2022 Porsche Panamera infotainment system

The leather dash holds a beautifully placed 12.3-inch touchscreen display which is a delight to use. It supports wireless Apple CarPlay and wired Android Auto, which is the biggest update this year. The dual 7-inch all-digital instrument cluster looks great and offers customizations for the layouts. A rear-seat entertainment system can also be added for $2,760. The sound quality from the standard 10-speaker is good but the optional Bose and Burmester sound systems are the go-to choice for audiophiles.

Lift up the hatch and you will see 17.6 cu-ft. of cargo storage. That's more than enough space to hold your golf bags or suitcases. If there is more luggage, the rear seats do fold to uncover 50 cu-ft. of cargo capacity. That's a tough number to compete for the 7 Series, S-Class, or A8 L. You could also store some small important items inside the cabin. Some other interior features are:

  • Tilt & Telescopic multi-function leather steering wheel
  • 8-way power front leather seats

The Panamera is definitely a looker- Cnet

The upcoming iteration of the Porsche Panamera will retain the same design language from the outgoing model as it received an exterior refresh just last year. Last year, the Panamera received an even sharper front-end. The front sports a set of typical Porsche-styled LED headlamps with a lowered intake grille followed by a long hood. The sides have a patterned finish with a lot of elements to increase the overall aerodynamics of the Panamera.

2022 Porsche Panamera three-quarter view

The car comes equipped with 19-inch alloy wheels which are quite big. The Panamera has the shortest wheelbase in this segment but its rear row provides ample legroom. The rear was also updated with an LED strip of the taillamps which are eye-catching with the quad exhaust outlets on the sides. The roofline connects to the rear tailgate like a hatch. Among the competition, the Panamera looks more exotic and retains its sporty identity with the sedan.

The Audi A8 L's low ground clearance assists in easy egress and ingress. It also increases the potential for speed on smooth roads. The Mercedes-Benz S-Class is around 10 inches longer than the Panamera. Therefore, parking at tight spots can be challenging. The BMW 7 Series has a wide wheelbase to provide a comfortable and stable ride to its passengers. Some of the highlights of the Panamera's exterior are:

  • 19-inch alloy wheels
  • Power-folding, auto-dimming, heated side mirrors
  • LED headlights
  • LED DRLs
  • LED taillights
  • Puddle lamps
  • Black grille with active grille shutters

Porsches have a very good reputation for safety and crash performance- CarAndDriver

Porsche has been known for on-road safety and reliability for quite some time now. The safety ratings are not available for the Panamera by the organizations like NHTSA and IIHS because of its availability and hefty price tag and that is common for all the competitors. Porsche claims to have used a stronger chassis which makes the Panamera more stable on the road.

2022 Porsche Panamera rear driving view

All the safety goodies will continue for the 2022 model year. The standard active safety features are a few on offer but there are plenty of them available as options. Porsche has also provided the Panamera with the $4,550 Assistance Package which is an additional extra but is worth mentioning. A few of the safety highlights of the Panamera include:

  • Adaptive Cruise Control
  • Front & Rear Parking Sensors
  • Road Sign Recognition
  • Lane Departure Warning
  • Lane Keep Assist
  • Forward Collision Warning
  • Automatic Emergency Braking

2022 Porsche Panamera vs 2022 Mercedes-Benz S-Class

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class is better in almost every category than the Panamera. Starting with performance, it demolishes the entire segment with its agile acceleration, while also offering better fuel economy than the Panamera. The Panamera is sportier in dynamics while the S-Class is laid-back in terms of driving. The Panamera's hatchback-like profile aids for better cargo space. With a long list of driver aids, the S-Class wins the battle, though there is a huge price difference to consider.

2022 Mercedes-Benz S-Class

2022 Porsche Panamera vs 2022 BMW 7 Series

The BMW 7 Series is the perfect answer to the Panamera except for its interior quality. Its interior is stylish but the Panamera's cabin feels more opulent. The 7 Series offers comfortable and hassle-free drives with a segment-leading fuel economy while the Panamera's driving dynamics are blissful and can be matched. The 7 Series also offers more safety techs as standard for its price but both cars are masterpieces in their own rights. In the end, it funnels down to personal preference.

2022 BMW 7 Series

2022 Porsche Panamera vs 2022 Audi A8 L

The Audi A8 L is the cheapest car in this competition which makes it quite accessible given the luxury and comfort it has to offer. The engine lineup of both cars is competitive. However, the Panamera is sportier among the two with very exciting driving dynamics. The A8 L's ride and handling are more suitable on a day-to-day basis. Both cars have extravagant interiors decorated with refined materials. The A8 L may fall short on trunk space but it covers up by offering more modern driver-assist features.

2022 Porsche Panamera Final Verdict

The 2022 Porsche Panamera is a car that you can enjoy driving considering the racing heritage behind the Porsche badge. If you want a luxury sedan with a sporty nature and do not want to compromise on both luxury and performance, then the Panamera is the car for you. Now that Android Auto is onboard, the Panamera no longer misses on features. Although there are other cars in the competition with attractive looks and unique features, the Panamera is one car that a buyer should not miss.

Luxurious sporty sedan with decent practicality

Pros - Strong acceleration, high end interior, handles like a sports car, decent practicality and poised ride.

Cons - Non-availability of Android Auto and touch controls for most functions is quite tedious to operate.

Sleek luxurious sedan with amazing performance. I have recently leased the 2021 Porsche Panamera as I was astounded by it’s sleek sporty exterior appearance and luxurious interior. It's a delight to drive on twisting backroads, due to its surefooted handling and powerful engine, yet it still rides nicely on uneven pavement on a daily basis. It's also extremely practical for a super expensive vehicle. I had no idea the luggage space behind the Panamera's rear liftgate was that large. The 12.3-inch touch panel provides sharp...

I love my Panamera!

Pros - Sleek Exterior Design--Effortless Driving Experience--Hushed Cabins--Power-Packed Turbo V6 Engine

Cons - Distracting center console controls--Average fuel economy

Premium and power-packed driving experience My Porsche Panamera is sleek, sexy, and powerful; its turbo V6 engine delivers effective throttle on speedways and the automated manual transmission makes the driving effortless in traffic conditions. The dashboard looks elegant with a unique touchscreen interface and the cabin is hushed while driving on 80+mph. A unique but great Porsche

Pros - Great interior quality. Sporty drive. Practical seating space.

Cons - Not a large trunk. Has a rather bulky design. Ground clearance.

Extremely comforting drive The Panamera isn’t the usual Porsche and is a perfect grand touring vehicle that’s pretty practical for a family and the quality of interior is too good and its not a usual 4 door car as the Panamera has a very sporty drive character. The car does need to be driven carefully over bumps and elevations as the ground clearance is pretty limited and also, the trunk is pretty limited on the Panamera.
