The Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo Turbo S being reviewed here is one of the trims of the Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo lineup. The Turbo S is for the outright adventurous ones. The ones that want to reach mind-boggling speeds, go on decent offroading treks, but also have a family of 4 or 5 and lastly, have lots of money to buy this expensive Porsche. If sportiness is not your thing, then there are the lower trims of the Taycan Cross Turismo to be considered.

The Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo Turbo S is expected to be released in the fall of 2021.

Engine and Performance

The Turbo S variant has a similar dual-motor setup as the other Cross Turismo trims but because of the higher capacity electric motors, it sits comfortably at speeds way higher than the other trims. The two motors combined together have a capacity of 460 kW of power which in horsepower figures converts into a whopping 616 HP. The “Turbo” in the name is definitely a gimmick as Turbos are surely not a thing in an electric vehicle. But here, the Turbo refers to the brief performance boost while using the Launch control feature which is exclusive only to the Turbo S trim. 

The power numbers go upto as high as 750 HP. The Torque figure too, at 774 pound-ft is extremely impressive. All this power helps the Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo Turbo S to do a 0-60 mph sprint in 2.7s with the Launch control on. The Porsche can easily smoke some supercars with a quarter-mile time of just 10.7 secs. Apart from that, you can use the performance boost feature for short powerful sprints at regular intervals. This boost builds up from regenerating the braking energy back into the batteries. The brakes are the biggest ones you can find on any of the trims and are of a diameter of 420mm at the front and 410 mm at the rear.

Porsche has employed carbon-fiber-reinforced ceramic brake discs which they boast to be virtually unfazed by even the most extreme of conditions. The sport suspension setup consists of an Aluminium Double Wishbone front axle and an Aluminium Multi-Link rear axle which improves the handling and maneuvering this beast becomes a piece of cake. If that wasn’t enough then there’s the Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus software which intelligently distributes the torque going to the rear wheels for maximum grip and stability. Okay if now even that’s not enough, then there is the rear-wheel steering for added agility around corners!

So apparently, Porsche has finally left Tesla far behind in the charts in every aspect. But with a price tag difference of 100,000 $, the Tesla Model X still stands as the most lucrative option. The Audi e-tron lags far behind in the competition but is still very capable of reaching 155 mph. EVs are known for their quick acceleration, which the Porsche Taycan does well, but considering only SUVs then the Tesla leaves no space for the Audi to win.

The 2022 Porsche Taycan 4S Cross Turismo Turbo S is an electric vehicle and although it’s high on power, the car is super efficient at normal speeds because it is equipped with high-capacity batteries. Apart from that, the Energy produced from Braking is regenerated to recharge the batteries. The Cross Turismo Turbo S has an estimated charging time of 10.5 hours from 0-100%. However, on DC with maximum charging power, it can move from 5% battery life to 80% in a matter of 22.5 minutes.

As such, the Porsche has left its competition far behind in terms of range. This advantage is all credited to the bigger capacity of batteries in the Cross turismo Turbo S, but the person who will most probably be buying one of these will do so for the immense power on offer. And if the whole power is to be utilised, then the range is just a figure on paper. Still at 250 miles of combined range , the figure is double that of the Tesla!


The Cross Turismo Turbo S is the sporty wagon variant and that is extremely well reflected in the interiors by having only 2 two-tone color trims which are Black/Slate gray and Graphite Blue/Slate Gray respectively. The seats are wrapped up in premium Alcantara leather and there are carbon fibre inserts at places all around the cabin to overall make it a light car.

The wagon variant of the Porsche Taycan can seat four or five passengers depending on the seat option you opt for in the rear. The Cross Turismo Turbo S has some awesome power delivery and every element of the chassis has been upgraded to withstand that power and create a magical experience. But you would need to be a complete kid at heart to be fascinated by the thrill that the Turbo S has to offer every time you get behind the wheel. If not, you’re better off buying one of the lower trims of the Taycan Cross Turismo.
