The two AC permanent synchronous motors work in harmony to make this EV one of the fastest Porsche with a regular power of 616 hp and a 750 hp of overboost power with launch control. As we all know that electric cars maintain their linear power and deliver a full capacity torque at the start and Taycan Turbo S is no different, with linear power it pulls the vehicles with the max torque of 774 lb-ft.

The 2021 Porsche Taycan Turbo S is definitely a part of the Taycan series but surely has a different appeal than the others. It somewhat resembles the Porsche 911 but with a clean and linear power source. Although this stylish EV demands a pocket of $185,000. One who is totally into futuristic vehicles and considering a performance-oriented electric vehicle then Porsche Taycan Turbo S is the one for you and better choose the Sport Chrono package for a more sporty feel.

2021 Porsche Taycan Turbo S electric Sedan Hits 0-60 mph in just 2.8s

Porsche Taycan Turbo S is not a normal sedan, it has a better design profile and that is why it costs more than the tesla. The Turbo S is surely the powerful one and leads the table with 80 more horsepower than the Tesla Model S. While the torque figure of Model S is missing but Taycan surely beats the Tesla in the initial pulling ability as well. The performance numbers can be seen in the table, Taycan accelerates 0 to 60 mph within 2.8 sec while Tesla takes 3.1 sec.

How does the 2021 Porsche Taycan Turbo S handle?

This sports sedan with a somewhat coupe design and aerodynamic body pushes the occupants back into its seats during launch controls. With the lowered sports seats, it offers the same driving dynamics as the Porsche 911 does but it gives a crazy crazy driving sensation without any sound. Taycan Turbo S feels planted and distributes its power neatly and silently to every single wheel.

2021 Porsche Taycan Turbo S electric Sedan Handling

Porsche Taycan is the first sports electric sedan by Porsche and the Turbo S is the fastest model amongst the other Porsches, this EV is no different from the other sports heritage of Porsche. The steering wheel turns the car precisely and with over-the-top handling on the curvy roads, it shows its true sporty attitude. The Taycan Turbo S comes with an adaptive air suspension system that can raise the car for certain patches and bad road conditions while maintaining the vehicle’s stability on the cliche corners.

2021 Porsche Taycan Braking performance

The German automaker Porsche uses a Porsche Ceramic Composite track approved ceramic braking system with a carbon-fiber-reinforced 16.5-inch front and 16.1-inch rear brake rotors. The carbon-fiber rotors are 50% lighter and thus reduces rotational inertia. The large ceramic brake calipers with a yellow finish decelerate the car pretty quickly while radiating futuristic appeal. All this technology makes the car stop from 60 mph to a standstill within 97 ft.

The rotors’ size of the Tesla Model S is relatively smaller than the Porsche Taycan but a bigger size doesn’t always mean better braking performance, Model S is 540 pounds lighter than the Taycan Turbo S and that justifies the rotor size of Tesla. Although with all the braking technology Porsche beat the Tesla in 60 mph to a standstill deceleration test by stopping itself 5 feet earlier than the Tesla.

2021 Porsche Taycan Turbo S Sedan Fuel Economy

Porsche uses its 800-Volt Architecture which produces a charging power of up to 270kW and charges the Taycan Turbo S enough to enable 62 miles of range (under controlled driving) within just 5 mins of time frame. The 93.4 kWh gross battery capacity takes a total of 10.5 hours to charge itself from 0 to 100 % with 9.6kW AC input while the time reduces to 9 hours when it’s charged with an 11kW AC input. Taycan Turbo S claims 212 miles of range under combined conditions, which is a 5.5% higher range from the former self.

The 2021 Porsche Taycan Turbo S definitely grants you to drive it like a complete sports car but with that attitude, it faces an extremely low range of 201 miles from full to empty under combined conditions. The Tesla Model S doesn’t face this problem as Tesla is the pioneer when it comes to power management skills, Model S claims a satisfactory 405 miles of range under combined situations. While both cars take around 11 to 12 hours to charge from empty to 100% with 240V of AC input.

2021 Porsche Taycan Turbo S Sedan Interior

The new Porche Taycan does also radiates the luxury appeal from the inside. The cabin of Taycan Turbo S is loaded with all sorts of interesting technology and some party tricks as well, while there are abundant desirable convenience features in the cabin such as 18-way power-adjustable front sport seats with memory setting, heated front & rear seats, two-tone leather-free interior, accessible rear row with 2 rear seats in single-seat look, multiple storage compartments in the center console, front & rear doors. The Taycan Badge on the center console and Turbo S badge on headrests remind you of the Porsche heritage.

2021 Porsche Taycan Turbo S electric Sedan Front Seats

The cabin is available for four occupants including the driver, the front and rear row seats are on a sporty side rather than the comfy sedan seats but Taycan Turbo S has to offer plenty of space in both front and rear sides. The rear row might feel a little bit cramped up in terms of headroom due to that sloping roof that Porsche offers. Road visibility through the front and side windows are manageable, while Turbo S gets a small rear windshield which does not offer much visibility, to solve that problem Porsche has integrated the TaycanTurbo S with a Fish-eye lens perspective rearview camera.

The driving dynamics of the Tesla Model S are not as refined as Taycan Turbo S. Tesla has designed the Model S as a luxury sedan that would offer all the luxury convenience while behaving like a proper sedan, whereas Taycan Turbo S is purely designed as a sports sedan. So, that is why Porsche is lacking in space. Either we talk about the seating capacity or the cargo space, while nothing can be said in the front & rear row room. Some salient interior features are:

  • 18-way power-adjustable front sport seats
  • Heated seats
  • Wireless charging
  • Interior ambient lighting
  • The 16.8-inch curved instrument panel
  • Advanced Dual-zone automatic climate control
  • Heated front seats
  • Driver seat memory setting
  • Heated steering wheel

What’s there to keep you entertained?

A luxury sports sedan shouldn’t be left out of entertainment features and Porsche has also looked into this matter and ensured that its customers don’t get bored during their ride. The Taycan gets two center console screens, a 10-inch, and an 8-inch display, these touchscreens operate smoothly without any lag and stutter.

2021 Porsche Taycan Turbo S electric Sedan Infotainment System

The 14-speaker Bose surround sound system plays punchy and base sound with over-the-top clarity. The gauges are nice and everything is readable. Some salient infotainment features are:

  •  10 and 8-inch dual touch display
  • 14-Speaker Bose surround sound system
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay smartphone integration
  • Navigation system
  • Satellite radio

2021 Porsche Taycan Turbo S Sedan Exterior

The 2021 Taycan Turbo S is one of the most beautiful, stylish, and futuristic-looking Porsche. Porsche first showcased its first Taycan as a Mission e concept which had the coolest wheels ever and then Porsche released the actual model, in white color option Taycan Turbo S exactly looks like its concept. Porsche designed this car in such a way that its front end somewhat resembles the Porsche 911, while the bulky rear part looks like Panamera.

2021 Porsche Taycan Turbo S electric Sedan Front Angle View

The Tayacan Turbo S has the coolest four-dot LED front headlights that kind of comes down on the side and are integrated with the air vents, from the side it looks like a coupe and hands down to Porsche for its neat and smooth design but it doesn’t get the cool door handles like Tesla Model S.The charging ports and are located just ahead of the vent holes on the side venders and probably the coolest part of the Taycan Turbo S is the rear end it’s just beefy & got the big strip of LED taillight across the whole back.

The Tesla Model S here is almost 540 pounds lighter than the Taycan Turbo S and besides being the lightest, it exceeds in all the dimensions by some couple of inches. As per the driving dynamics of Taycan Turbo, this car is not an average sedan, it’s designed like a sports vehicle and drives like it too. So all its dimensions are justified here except for the weight. The slightly lower wheelbase helps the Porsche to turn better than the Tesla. • 21-inch Mission E design wheels
  • Performance summer tires
  • Adaptive Porsche air suspension with Porsche smart lift
  • 4-Dot automatic LED headlights
  • Panoramic sunroof
  • Surround-view camera system
  • Massive horizontal LED taillight strip
  • Over fender charging point

2021 Porsche Taycan Turbo S Sedan Competition

2021 Porsche Taycan Turbo S Vs 2021 Tesla Model S

Tesla has been making electric vehicles in the market for a very long time and its Model S feels like a more practical vehicle for daily riding, light in weight, more than average performance, better range and, more convenient on a daily basis. On the other hand, Taycan Turbo S carries the sporty genes of the Porsche, its ride quality, steering handling, and raw acceleration are on another level.

2021 Tesla Model S

Both the Tesla and Porsche lie in the same category only because of the vehicle type sedan and the other is that they both are EVs.

2021 Porsche Taycan Turbo S Sedan Final Verdict

If you are the one who has been waiting for Porsche to launch an electric vehicle then Porsche has proved itself again that why it’s the best german automaker. The Taycan Turbo S offers a demonic acceleration and keeps it constant until you put your foot aside from the pedal. It handles beautifully on curved roads even if you are throttling it hard, the steering is precise and it won’t miss any turn as it takes the vehicle where you wanna drive it. The battery performance is better this year and the range is not much disappointing according to the sports-oriented nature of this car. After all this blabbering one thing is for sure that this vehicle is a keeper for sure.
