The standard feature list covers almost everything that you need. Although there are a ton of customization options available in the form of optional packages, we do not recommend them as they can make the already expensive Taycan Turbo even more expensive.

Engine and Performance

The 2022 Porsche Taycan Electric Turbo will impress anyone who loves driving. Performance is one area where Porsche has not compromised at all. The 2022 Taycan Turbo comes with twin-electric motors that generate a whopping 671 horsepower and the maximum torque output is 627 pound-feet. The power output is equal to some of the best performing sports sedans in the market. The power is sent to all four wheels which give good traction. 

The electric motor is mated to a 1-speed direct-drive transmission. The transmission handles the power very well. All the cars in the competition offer very impressive performance. The 2022 Audi RS e-tron GT is mechanically the same as the Porsche Taycan Turbo from inside and that is very obvious from the acceleration figures. It gets less power compared to the Porsche as the Audi is more focused on comfort than performance. The 2021 Lucid Air Electric Sedan is the fastest car to reach 60 mph as it takes only 2.5 seconds. The Porsche Taycan Turbo comes next to the Lucid Air and takes 3 seconds to reach 60 mph. The 2022 Tesla Model S is marginally slower than the Porsche Taycan in 0 to 60 mph run but is slightly faster in the quarter-mile run.

Fuel Economy

The biggest advantage of buying an electric car is the efficiency as you do not need to pay for gas. It significantly reduces your running cost. But the biggest concern becomes the range of the car as it can limit the go anywhere factor. The 2022 Porsche Taycan Electric Turbo comes with a battery capacity of 93.4 kWh. The battery pack is good enough for the car but fails to impress with its range in such a great-performing car. The overall range of 203 miles is not that impressive when compared to the rivals. It is still a good enough option with such a great performance and a decent driving range.

The 2022 Porsche Taycan Electric Turbo sedan offers the least range in the competition which is the only major downside of the Taycan Turbo. The Audi RS e-tron GT is also not very impressive and offers only 29 miles more than the Taycan Turbo. The 2022 Tesla Model S offers a really excellent range of 412 miles without compromising much on performance. The 2021 Lucid Air Electric Sedan takes this to the next level with a claimed range of 517 miles, their best range claimed yet in the segment. 


The 2022 Porsche Taycan Turbo Electric Sedan offers a great cabin for the segment. The moment when you enter the cabin, you know it is a Porsche. The ambiance in the cabin will impress most of the buyers and it gives a sense of luxury. The dashboard is designed very well and you can find the use of soft-touch materials on it. Every touchpoint for the driver and even the passenger is made of high-quality materials. There are no quirks in the overall design or the quality of the cabin.

The front row offers a good amount of space for the driver and the co-passenger. Similar to the other Porsche cars, the interior space for the Taycan Turbo Electric Sedan has not been revealed by Porsche. Still, the cabin feels good enough in terms of overall space. The driving position is also very sporty and comfortable. It might be an issue while getting in and out of the car for some people but once you are inside, there is no concern. The ergonomics are also taken care of very well. All the controls are within the reach of the driver which makes driving even more fun.

The rear seats also offer very decent space for the class. The only thing that makes it stand behind the competition is the fact that it can accommodate only two passengers in the rear. It makes it a four-seater while all the other rivals offer space for three passengers at the back. The cargo area is also not very great and you get a very decent space of 14.3 cubic feet. Overall, the interior of the 2022 Porsche Taycan Electric Turbo is pretty good for the segment for four people.

Porsche has used some physical buttons inside the cabin, still, you need to rely on the touchscreen for accessing many features. It makes it a little difficult to operate the screens while driving. There are a ton of connectivity features with the infotainment including Apple CarPlay and Bluetooth connectivity, but the Android Auto is still missing from the pack. The 2022 Audi e-tron is the longest in the segment but has a shorter wheelbase than the 2022 Porsche Taycan Electric Turbo. The overall range of the Ludic Air is more than twice as compared to the Porsche Taycan Turbo. Porsche is a well-established brand and we all know about the reliability of the car. That still remains to be seen for the Lucid Air sedan but based on the claims, Lucid Air seems like a better package of the two.

Final Verdict

The new Porsche Taycan Turbo Electric Sedan is one of the best electric sedans for enthusiasts in the segment. It offers impressive performance with impeccable driving dynamics. The only shortcoming remains the range of the car which might be a limiting factor for many buyers. The competition offers a more sensible package at a significantly lower price, which makes the Taycan a hard choice in the segment. Still, if you liked the 2021 Porsche Taycan Turbo, then you can buy the 2022 model as it will largely remain the same.
