The RAM 1500 Quad Cab is the extended wheelbase version of the famous RAM 1500 with 4 doors, more practicality, and better workhorse capabilities. The looks of the new generation RAM 1500 have got much better in every way. It now looks more aerodynamic and more characterful. However, For 2022, it is speculated to have some minor exterior revamps. Speaking of the engine, as always, it comes with some power-packed engine. Inside the interior, everything is pretty much premium and modern. Although the design of the interior looks simple, they have thrown in some features for top-notch comfort and safety. There are also rumors that it might pack a new powerful hybrid powertrain that is more efficient and quick at once. Also, the RAM 1500 is the most affordable pickup truck on the lot. Moreover, the RAM has some serious competition which has been prolonging for decades now. Some of the key competitors are the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Double Cab, Ford F-150 SuperCab, and the GMC Sierra 1500 Double Cab.

2022 RAM 1500 Quad Cab Features

The 2022 RAM 1500 Quad Cab comes in three different trim levels namely Tradesman, HFE, Big Horn, and Laramie. All the trims except HFE come with both Rear-wheel drive and front-wheel drive options, whereas the HFE trim comes as a rear-wheel-drive option only. It is expected to start at a price of around $30,000 for the base tradesman trim and goes all the way up to $42,500 for the Rear-wheel drive version and the All wheel drive option would cost you an additional $3500 which is pretty much a great deal. All the trims of the RAM 1500 Quad Cab come equipped with a diesel-powered 3.0-liter V6 that is capable of churning out 260 horsepower and a colossal 480 lb-ft of torque. Obviously, the base trim also features it. 

You also get 2 more engine options such as a 3.6-liter V6 engine and a 5.7-liter V8 engine which is the most powerful engine of the bunch. As standard, you get some modern features like 18” x 7.5” steel painted wheels, 4-way manually adjustable driver and passenger seats, heated exterior mirrors, a 5-inch infotainment display, Tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, and Variable Intermittent Wipers. On the top trim, everything gets plush and premium. You get Heated & ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, an 8.4-inch infotainment display, LED headlights, and so on. Which trim should you buy?

As you can see, the base trim is pretty much bare bones and you get modern gimmicks only in the Laramie trim. However, the most value-for-money trim here is the Big Horn trim which is priced at $37,290 for the rear-wheel-drive option and $40,790 for the all-wheel-drive trim. You get features like a Leather-wrapped steering wheel, available integrated voice command with Bluetooth, Metal-Look Gear Shifter Material, Deluxe Sound Insulation, 4 Way Front Headrests, and so on. 

You also get access to some top-notch packages like Max Tow Package (HEMI) which would cost you an additional $995 from its price. The Trailer Tow Group adds features like Trailer Light Check, Trailer Brake Control, and Trailer Reverse Steering Control. The Built-To-Serve Edition, on the other, offers Black Door Handles, 9 Amplified Speakers w/Subwoofer, and LED Taillamps. All the trims of the 2022 RAM 1500 Quad Cab are available in three engine options. The base engine on offer is a 3.6 Liter V6 that is capable of thumping out 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. Obviously, the LE trim also features it. The engine is paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission, and you can either have it as an FWD or an AWD option. It also offers a diesel-powered 3.0-liter V6 engine that delivers relatively good fuel economy. This engine puts out 260 hp and 480 lb-ft of torque. The massive 5.7-liter V8 engine, on the other hand, offers instantaneous power on demand. It puts out 395 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque which is the most powerful engine option here.

Coming to the performance numbers, the base 3.6-liter V6 gasoline engine shoots from 0-60 MPH in just 6.6 seconds. The quarter-mile run takes around 14.7 seconds to complete and also hits a top speed of 130 mph which is truly impressive for a pickup truck of this size. Moreover, with its strong torque output, it is capable of towing tremendous loads with so much ease. Despite being a large pickup truck, it handles well when compared to some other rivals in its segment.

Among the competition, the RAM 1500 clearly delivers the most horsepower straight out of the factory, but the other pickup truck is equally potent. The GMC Sierra 1500 is actually the second quickest vehicle of the bunch, it accelerates from 0-60 mph in 7 seconds with a quarter-mile time of 15 seconds and a top speed of 130 mph which is on par with the segment. The slowest vehicle here is the Chevrolet Silverado which produces 285 hp and 305 lb-ft of torque. It hits 0-60 mph in 7.2 seconds and a quarter-mile run in 15.3 seconds. Both GMC Sierra and Chevy Silverado are equipped with the same engine platform. However, the GMC Sierra edges over the Silverado in terms of performance figures.

This pickup truck has a solid reputation for its fuel efficiency. The RAM 1500 Quad Cab is on the top of the table when it comes to EPA fuel efficiency ratings. With a fuel tank that can hold 23 gallons of gasoline, it offers a great driving range. The RAM 1500 Quad Cab, with the standard 3.6-liter V6 engine, is good for 20 mpg in the city. On the highway, the RAM 1500 is at its best with 25 miles to the gallon and a combined 22 mpg. These are great numbers, despite having the most powerful engine. However, with a 23 gallon on offer, it covers a driving range of 460 miles in the city, 575 miles on the highway, and a combined 506 miles which turns out to be mediocre numbers when compared to some of its rivals.

Among the competition, In terms of highway range, the RAM 1500 Quad Cab is good for 575 miles with a full tank. But with a bigger 26 gallon-sized tank, the Ford F-150 SuperCab gets the most range with 650 miles on the highway and 572 miles in the mixed conditions. Both Ford and RAM offer the same mileage overall. The GM twins, on the other hand, come with similar fuel efficiency figures as well. Both these cars return 16 mpg in the city, 21 mpg on the highway, and a combined 17 mpg which happens to be the least fuel-efficient pickup trucks in the segment. Although the design of the dashboard looks boxy, the materials used inside the cabin are very premium and made using high-grade materials. It has another trick up its sleeve which is a dual-tone interior with a handful of color options such as Lt Frost Beige / Black, Light Mountain Brown / Blk, and Diesel Gray / Black. The seats used in the base trim are 4 way manually adjustable with cloth upholstery. You still get 4-way adjustable seats but with power adjustment in the Laramie trim. Moreover, the seats are wrapped in leather inside the Laramie trim. 

The steering wheel looks big and chunky with audio and call controls mounted on it. Moreover, it is capable of seating 6 passengers with oodles of comfort. In terms of dimensions, the RAM 1500 Quad Cab has a modest cabin with a front and rear headroom space of 40.9 inches and 39.8 inches respectively. The legroom, on the other hand, measures 40.9 inches in the front and 45.2 inches in the rear. The Shoulder room, however, is on par with all the rivals in its segment. On the downside, it offers a dismal cargo space of 61.6 cubic feet which is comparatively lesser.

It still retains the design of the same headlights which look stylish and imposing and slightly looks like it has been derived from the Dodge Charger.
