We Recommend

The 2014 RAM 1500 Regular Cab in the SLT trim would be the best option to choose as it comes with a set of upgraded features over the base trims. The SLT trim comes standard with the 3.6 L V6 under the hood, but for more power, you can always opt for the stronger 5.7 L HEMI V8. The SLT trim comes with all of the available options including different bed lengths and 4WD.

2014 RAM 1500 Regular Cab Engine and Performance

8.0/10

The standard engine that comes in all trims except the Express and Sport trims is a 3.6 L V6 that outputs 305 hp and 269 lb-ft of maximum torque. Standard in the Express and Sport trims and optional for all trims except HFE is a 5.7 L HEMI V8 that produces 395 hp and 410 lb-ft which is not a drastic increase in terms of power, but is definitely a lot more torquey. All trims except the HFE and Sport come as standard in a 2WD configuration and offer 4WD as an option, whereas the HFE (High Fuel Efficiency) is exclusively 2WD and the Sport is exclusively 4WD.

The transmission options include an 8-speed automatic that comes mated to the V6 and V8 engine options in all trims. However, the Tradesman and Express trims could be equipped with a different 6-speed automatic along with the V8 engine. The base V6 is a strong one that outputs punchy performance. It can take the RAM 1500 to a speed of 60mph in 7.9 seconds and helps it cross the quarter-mile in 16.1 seconds.

The RAM is just a tad bit slower than the Chevy whereas the Toyota is the slowest.

The RAM and the Chevy are the more fuel-efficient options. The Chevy Silverado 1500 is more fuel-efficient in the city while the RAM 1500 can drive much more miles on the highway. The Ford F-150 is also an efficient truck but the Tundra doesn’t manage to impress in the fuel economy department. The RAM 1500 is a superb option considering the fact that it performs very well and provides great fuel efficiency.

2014 RAM 1500 Regular Cab Interior

9.0/10

The 2014 RAM 1500 Regular comes with one of the best interiors in the game right now in the segment. Like most regular cab models, it can seat three people including the driver while the rest of the vehicle is reserved for the cargo bed. The dashboard and the whole cabin are made up of quality materials that don’t look or feel too cheap. The controls are also neatly arranged and are easy to reach.

The cabin of the 2014 RAM 1500 features vinyl-covered seats in the base trims while the mid-level trims get cloth seats which are further upgraded to premium cloth seats in the top-end trims. Unlike the more luxurious trims of the Quad and Crew Cab models, an abundance of wood and leather elements inside the cabin is not available with the Regular Cab models. The seats are comfortable and the ride quality is superb and thereby the RAM is a winner in the interior section also.
