Expert Review, Pricing Analysis and Buying Guide

Against all the rival regular cabs such as Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD, Ford F-250 Super Duty, and GMC Sierra 2500HD, the RAM 2500 Regular Cab has an inline-6 diesel engine whereas these competitors have a V8 diesel engine which results in interior engine output compared to these opponents. The 2022 RAM 2500 Diesel Regular Cab will have few updates in the infotainment and safety section and some additions in the packages as well.

2022 RAM 2500 diesel Regular Cab Features

There will be seven trims offered on the 2022 RAM 2500 lineup but on the Regular Cab variant, only Tradesman and Big Horn which is also known as the Lone Star in Texas will be available. The base Tradesman trim comes with standard features such as 18-inch steel wheels, push-button start, 5-inch touchscreen, manual air conditioning, front bench seats with 40/20/40 splitting ratio, cruise control, Vinyl floor covering, Manual shift-on-the-fly part-time transfer case (in 4WD), and a rear-view camera.

Upgrade to the Big Horn trim and you will get cloth upholstery, bigger standard wheels, Hydrographic metal patina finish on the center console and doors, and an electronic shift-on-demand transfer case (in 4WD). A number of optional packages are common for both trims such as, for $845, the Bed Utility Group will give you MOPAR spray-in bed liner, LED bed lighting, MOPAR deployable bed step. The Cold Weather Group ($145) will provide an engine block heater, MOPAR winter front grille cover. For $360, the Convenience Group will offer a 3.5-inch TFT color display.

The Big Horn or Lone Star trim is a better choice because not only it encompasses all the basic features given on the base trim but it also has optional features such as power-adjustable seats with power lumbar support, digital rearview mirror, dual-zone auto climate control, 12-inch touchscreen, premium cloth bucket seats, and more which are not available on the Tradesman trim. 2022 RAM 2500 diesel Regular Cab Competition

2022 RAM 2500 Regular Cab vs 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HDRegular

Chevrolet certainly has a higher payload and towing capacity compared to the RAM but it does not give a convincing impression compared to the RAM or Ford. It is quick on its feet, has an airier cabin than the rival from RAM, and comes with a larger cargo capacity than the RAM. Both the RAM 2500 and Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD Regular Cabs have a similar fuel storage capacity. That said, the Silverado 2500HD has a higher ground clearance.

2022 RAM 2500 Regular Cab vs 2021 GMC Sierra 2500 HD Regular Cab

The Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD and the GMC Sierra 2500 HD are basically mirrored images of one another. But if you wanna go a little more upscale the GMC will be a better choice compared to the Chevrolet. That said, just like the Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD, the GMC Sierra 2500 HD offers a larger cargo capacity. Additionally, it has more payload and towing capacity compared to the RAM 2500 regular Cab.

2022 RAM 2500 Regular Cab vs 2021 Ford-250 Regular Cab

As far as freedom of customization is concerned the Ford F-250 has a clear advantage. It also has a lightweight aluminum body that bestows it with a better payload and towing capacity compared to RAM 2500 or any other rival in the competition. However, the RAM 2500 has better interior quality, and the level of comfort is also more than its Ford counterpart.

2022 RAM 2500 diesel Regular Cab Final Verdict

Every opponent has given a tough fight to the RAM 2500 Regular Cab. They are ahead in terms of cargo capacity, payload capacity, and towing capacity. Ford F-250 has the highest degree of practicality but it has a lower ground clearance. But compared to GMC Sierra 2500 and Chevrolet Silverado 2500 which are two candies out of the same box, the Ford F-250 Regular Cab is a more feasible option since it also has the lowest price tag.
