Expert Review, Pricing Analysis and Buying Guide

The 6-speed auto transmission gives you flexibility for changing gears while cruising at higher speeds. The cab has plenty of room, the back seats can lay down for added storage, while the front features air conditioning and all amenities. There are several pickup truck giants it competes against, including the Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD Diesel Regular Cab, Ford F-350 Super Duty Diesel Regular Cab, and GMC Sierra 3500HD Diesel Regular Cab

2022 RAM 3500 diesel Regular Cab Features

Pickup trucks come in a variety of trims and configurations, so there are many possible combinations. Likewise, the 2022 Ram 3500 lineup will be available in five trim levels: Tradesman, Big Horn, Laramie, Longhorn, and Limited. With Regular Cab, Crew Cab, and Mega Cab configurations, you can choose between 6 foot 4 inches or long 8-foot cargo beds, as well as rear- or four-wheel drive. The purpose of pickup trucks, unlike automobiles, is to transport heavy loads and other heavy-duty tasks that consumers run into every day. Therefore, deciding on a specific trim largely depends on your needs and preferences. In the end, however, we recommend the Laramie trim, equipped with generous amounts of standard technology and safety features.

2022 RAM 3500 Regular Cab Diesel Release date

Although there may be a transmission change, we do not expect the Ram 3500 Regular Cab Diesel to be introduced much earlier than usual. We expect it to be released sometime in the last quarter of this year.

2022 RAM 3500 diesel Regular Cab Engine and Performance

Ram will likely launch its 2022 model of the 3500 Regular Cab Diesel with a similar powertrain underpinning as the current model. In the diesel version, there's a Cummins 6.7-liter inline-six turbo-diesel engine that produces around 370 horsepower and 850 pound-feet of torque. Additionally, the engine can be upgraded to an even more powerful version with 410 horsepower and 1000 pounds-feet of torque. A towing capacity of more than 35.000 pounds is available with this version. The engine is likely to get a new 10-speed Allison transmission, as we've already discussed. Currently, the model uses a 6-speed unit from Aisin. The Cummins diesel engine combines style and performance in a single package.

The Ram 3500 Heavy Duty pickup truck is the ultimate workhorse. With the 2021 model, the RAM 3500 Regular Cab Diesel experienced impressive refinements. You'll feel them in strong, decisive braking that can stop you short even at high speeds. You'll feel them in energetic acceleration for passing and merging. And you'll feel them inefficient highway cruising. In spite of packing such heft beneath its hood, it still offers a good level of performance. This pickup is capable of sprinting from 0-60 in eight seconds and running a quarter-mile in 17.3 seconds.

As with the RAM 3500 Regular Cab, all pickups in the competition are powered by V8 engines. The 2021 RAM 3500 regular cab is the most robust amongst its rivals and also comes with an excellent transmission. On the other hand, the Silverado is very competitive in terms of pure power. Also, the Chevy Silverado is also the quickest of the competition, followed by the F-350 Super Duty and GMC Sierra 3500HD.

2022 RAM 3500 diesel Regular Cab Fuel Economy

It's well known that the government won't test and release official fuel economy numbers for pickups, as is the case here. As a result, we did not list the precise mpg figures for RAM 3500 Diesel Regular Cab. Although, according to tests conducted privately and by third parties, we learned that the mpg figures aren't impressive. The 2021 RAM 3500 regular cab clearly does not excel in fuel economy. Its heavy 6.4L V8 engine consumes too much fuel thanks to all the heavy lifting it performs. A typical mileage of 11 mpg on city streets and 18 mpg on freeways can be expected. Its fuel tank is the largest among its rivals, however, so its overall range is close to 700 miles.

The 2021 Silverado achieves a combined mpg rating of 17, which is the same as the GMC Sierra's. RAM's 2021 RAM 3500 regular cab's figures have not yet been released, but they're likely to be in line with those of its competitors. Moreover, the fuel tanks of both Silverado 3500HD and Sierra 3500HD are similar.

2022 RAM 3500 diesel Regular Cab Interior

The 2022 RAM 3500 regular cab diesel makes a powerful statement from the outside, and you'll love how it feels to travel down the road in the cockpit-like interior. The RAM 3500 model bed is 6 inches longer than the standard 6" bed underneath. To lift the interior space to the next level, the center cushion moves forward six inches to make room for additional storage underneath. This also improves visibility when driving with no shade over the window. The well-appointed cab interior is designed with comfortable seats that are both heated and cooled; including adjustable head restraints, armrests, console, and storage.

A real sense of spaciousness will come over you once you step inside the 2022 RAM 3500 regular cab diesel. With the exception of pickup trucks, the cabin of the car is one of the largest and most well-appointed in its segment. With ample headroom and legroom inside, six adults can fit comfortably inside the RAM 3500. There is no feeling of quality being compromised in the house since the materials used are of high quality. Though the cabin has a lesser amount of space than the competition, its character is much better. In some trims, wood accents are offered by the manufacturer, adding to the allure of the interior of the RAM 3500 regular cab. Besides being attractive, the interiors are also ergonomically designed.

A slightly better performance, better acceleration, and better handling make the Silverado a slightly better ride. With its best performance in the class, the 2022 RAM 3500 Regular Cab Diesel stands out. The truck's powerful V8 engine outperforms all others. Nevertheless, the Silverado has a slight advantage in terms of cargo capacity, towing capacity, cabin space, etc.

2022 RAM 3500 Regular Cab Diesel vs the 2021 Ford F-350 Super Duty Diesel Regular Cab

In addition to having better engine performance, towing capacity, cargo space, as well as a better exterior look, and a better cabin, the 2021 Ford F-350 Super Duty Regular Cab also offers better cabin space. 2022 RAM 3500 Regular Cab Diesel vs the 2021 GMC Sierra 3500HD Diesel Regular Cab

Although the RAM 3500 standard cab outperforms the GMC sierra in every way, the 2021 GMC sierra is an impressive package. Power, acceleration, or range are the factors that make the RAM 3500 regular cab the winner. Based on the data in the above tables, it is clear that the Sierra and Silverado are essentially identical vehicles. It's the quality of the interior, which is better in the GMC, that sets them apart. There is a greater focus on performance with the Silverado.

2022 RAM 3500 diesel Regular Cab Final Verdict

The new Ram 3500 brings a level of towing power, payload, and capability that few others in the industry can match. The RAM 3500 is a solid foundation for a high-capacity, on-road work hauler. It's a tough day-in and day-out performer for a variety of jobs, from the daily grind of the construction site to the backcountry of the wilds. And it's all built on an innovative new platform that sets new standards for efficiency. When you add the utility of a standard cab, available four-door crew cab, and a long list of exclusive features, it's easy to see why the new RAM 3500 makes so much sense.
