With standard AWD, the Model X Plaid is believed to offer impressive handling and performance. The SUV offers an extraordinary acceleration of 2.5 seconds. The interiors are likely to be similar to the Model X with carbon fiber work around the cabin. The massive 17-inch touchscreen display will be the center of attraction and offer a minimalistic look altogether. The infotainment is claimed to be highly responsive and user-friendly. The launch is slated for the end of 2021 or early 2022. We shall watch the 2022 Model X Plaid competing against the Mercedes-Benz EQC, the Jaguar I-Pace, and the Audi e-tron.

The Model X Plaid boasts of offering best-in-class features that enhance the performance to an extreme. The falcon-wing doors, seven-seat configuration, and canopy glass make the Plaid first of its kind. Although the price of the 2022 Model X Plaid has been kept high compared to the rivals, there is still no match for its power and performance.

We Recommend

The Plaid’s exterior design is still debatable. Although, if Tesla claims are to be believed then the 2022 Model X Plaid is the fastest electric SUV ever. We would recommend Model X Plaid for its efficient all-wheel-drive setup that manages to bring smart handling features. Compared to the regular model, the Plaid offers a significant upgrade in terms of interior features and safety aids.

2022 Tesla Model X Plaid Price

Similar to the Tesla Model S Plaid, Tesla made significant upgrades in the Model X and brought its Plaid version. The 2022 Model X Plaid price is likely to be close to the $121,190 Model S Plaid price. We are expecting the Model X Plaid pricing to be around $119,990, making it one of the expensive Tesla cars in the segment.

2022 Tesla Model X Plaid Release Date

Tesla is yet to confirm the launch date of the 2022 Model X Plaid. However, after looking into several speculations and the brand's previous launch patterns, the 2022 Tesla Model X Plaid is expected to be launched late this year or in early 2022.

2022 Tesla Model X Plaid SUV Engine and Performance

A tri-motor all-wheel-drive configuration runs the Tesla Model X Plaid. Initially, the Model X used to come with a single motor that powered the rear wheels. The 2022 Model X Plaid has a motor attached to all the axles, hence an all-wheel drive. Handling is again worth taking note of as the 1020 hp power output is something that needs too much care to get through.

The new Plaid offers a record-breaking acceleration figure as well. The car manages to sprint 0 to 60 mph in just 2.5 seconds. The top speed has been limited to 155 mph. In a single full charge, the car can take you to 340 miles. The Tesla is capable of crossing the 150mph top speed mark while no other competitor can do it.

2022 Tesla Model X Plaid SUV Fuel Economy

7.0/10

Tesla has released the range for the new Model X Plaid and it is around 340 miles. With the 1020 hp power output, the driving range would be just fantastic in all respects. The regular Model x claims a driving range of 360 miles. For instance, in a single charge, the Model X Plaid is capable of traveling from Los Angeles to San Jose.

Comparatively, no other rival of the Model X Plaid offers such a driving range in a single charge. The figures are marvelous and exciting as well. The Mercedes-Benz EQC manages to offer a range of 279 miles, and the Audi e-tron is able to get only 204 miles. The Jaguar I-Pace manages to offer more than the Audi and secures the third spot.

2022 Tesla Model X Plaid SUV Interior

9.0/10

With the massive 17-inch touchscreen placed in a vertical position, the 2022 Tesla Model x Plaid's interior appears futuristic. The Model X Plaid's cabin design is inspired by the Model S. the interior boasts premium material that adds a luxury quotient to the car. We expect the 2022 Model X Plaid to offer best-in-class interior refinements with more features intact. The dashboard would get wooden treatment and we would also see an upgraded steering wheel for the Plaid.

The cabin can comfortably accommodate more than five people and we have an option for seven-seaters as well. Just like the regular Model X, the Plaid would offer ample interior space with proper legroom and headroom across the rows. Meanwhile, the car offers good cargo capacity that can be used to store a lot of stuff.

2022 Tesla Model X Plaid SUV Competition

6.0/10

2022 Tesla Model X Plaid vs. 2021 Mercedes-Benz EQC

The EQC brings lots of modern design elements to rival popular electric cars. The Mercedes still lacks when it comes to power and performance while the Model X Plaid takes most of the credit. However, the build quality of the EQC is something that nobody talks about. It certainly beats the Model X Plaid in this regard.

2022 Tesla Model X Plaid vs. 2021 Jaguar I-Pace

Compared to the Jaguar I-Pace, the Model X Plaid is certainly a beast machine. With 1020 hp power, the Model X is one of the powerful electric SUVs. The Jaguar I-Pace looks to be a bit underpowered with its dual motor setup. In terms of acceleration, the I-Pace takes 4.5 seconds to go 0 to 60 mph while the powerful Model X Plaid does the same in 2.5 seconds.

2022 Tesla Model X Plaid vs. 2021 Audi e-tron

The Model X Plaid is way too costly when compared to the Audi e-tron. In terms of power and performance, the Model X Plaid overshadows the e-tron. However, in terms of interior space, the e-tron is a winner here. Also, the exterior design of the Tesla is still debatable while Audi’s exterior is built purposely.

2022 Tesla Model X Plaid SUV Final Verdict

The Model X Plaid is for buyers who are looking to spend hefty cash on an electric crossover SUV just for the sake of power and design. The Model X Plaid will be available for sale in early 2022, till then, you can check the configurator on Tesla's official website for more details.
