Toyota has always been a cautious player in the market and brought vehicles based on the success of its previously launched vehicles. Likewise, riding on the immense success of the trusted Corolla sedan, the brand decided to step up the game with a bigger sedan, the Camry. Initially, the Camry was launched in a narrow-styled body but later evolved into a mid-size sedan in 1992.

The 2015 Toyota Camry is part of the XV50 model of the sedan and will receive a complete redesign for the same model year as well. The update is focused majorly on the cosmetics department and the sole mechanical bit receiving a retouch would be the suspension system. The car will retain its powertrain and transmission options from the pre-facelift model and will come at a starting price of $22,970.

2015 Toyota Camry Features

9.0/10

The 2015 Toyota Camry is offered in a total of six trim levels starting from the base LE trim. The starting price of the sedan is set at $22,970 and gets two engine options- a base I-4 and a 3.5-liter V6. The drivetrain layout is restricted to FWD only and the transmission option is also limited to a single 6-speed automatic unit. The sedan offers a decent set of features in its base trim but it gets more convenient and luxurious right from the SE trim. The base trim doesn’t get any enhancement packages but the SE trim gets an option of the Convenience Package which includes keyless ignition, keyless entry, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. Some of the standard features of the XLE and the XSE V6 variant are offered as an optional extra in their I-4 equipped avatar.

We would recommend the SE trim if you’re on a tight budget otherwise, the XSE trim makes the most sensible option among the trim levels.

2015 Toyota Camry Engine and Performance

8.0/10

The 2015 Toyota Camry gets a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated I-4 motor which is good for 178 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of maximum torque. The motor is mated to a standard 6-speed automatic transmission that sends all the power to the front wheels only. With the reworked suspension setup for the 2015 model year, the overall driving dynamics and handling have improved but still, the sedan fails to match the driving experience offered by most of its rivals. Both the base motor and the optional V6 unit are smooth and make driving easy in the city limits and out on the highways. The sedan accelerates from 0-60 in a rather lethargic 8.3 seconds and completes the standing quarter-mile run within 17 seconds as well. The V6 motor propels the car to 60mph from a standstill within 6.2 seconds, making the Camry one of the quickest accelerating sedans in the segment.
