You should select the right pickup truck depending on what you need, what you want to tow, and what you want for other purposes. The four-cylinder variant with manual transmission would be adequate for basic workloads. V6 variants fit the bill nicely for those who require a workhorse.

2013 Toyota Tacoma Engine and Performance

9.0/10

A 236-horsepower V6 with either a six-speed manual transmission or a five-speed automatic is available.

Comparatively, all the pickup trucks aforementioned are equipped with V6 engines that deliver generous power. With the exception of the Ford F-150, which drives on its rear wheels, all cars in this segment are available only as four-wheel-drive models. Ridgeline takes 9.5 seconds to accelerate while the Ford F-150 takes just 7.4 seconds, making it the fastest pickup in its segment.

2013 Toyota Tacoma Fuel Economy

7.0/10

The Tacoma Access cab provides the room you need for friends and family, but still gets great gas mileage and is budget-friendly to buy. The base Toyota Tacoma Access Cab with a four-cylinder engine earns EPA fuel economy ratings of 16-21 mpg in the city and 18-25 mpg on the highway. There is a slight drop in efficiency for V6 engines, and these figures depend on the configuration of the engine.
