Detailed Review

Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro is a mid-size pick up which is not your average Joe truck. It can tackle some serious terrain and get you places where the regular ones just can’t go. It does the job really well and fits the bill of those perfectly with its reputation and near bullet proof dependability.

Handling and Steering

Tacoma, being a truck, handles like a tank. Steering is responsive, and it can tackle most of the corners with ease but when it comes to city driving, the ride is rough, and all the undulations are easily felt inside the cabin. The off-road tires increase the cabin noise level which is not good music to ears.

Take it out on its favorite place, Off-road and it shines like a diamond. It is easily one of the best trucks off-road and with Toyota backing, it’s near bulletproof packaging. The wheels and steering feel apt for this kind of adventure.

Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro is fitted with 10.8-inch ventilated disc in front and 10-inch ventilated disc at the back. Since it’s a pick up, it weighs in at 4445 pounds. It takes 124 feet to stop from 60-0 MPH.

Chevrolet Colorado ZR2

Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 is the real competition to Tacoma TRD. It also gets off road features which make it a really close fight between these two. Colorado has one ace up its sleeve and that’s an 8-speed automatic transmission which gives excellent fuel economy. But in most departments, Toyota Tacoma TRD is standout with its heritage and superb capabilities.

Nissan Frontier

The only thing the Nissan does better is price and it’s almost $8000 cheaper than Toyota Tacoma. It hasn’t been updated and looks dull in comparison with the Toyota. It does have a 4.0-Liter V6 engine which has the highest torque among the competition. Toyota still triumphs in most departments.

2018 Toyota Tacoma TRD Double Cab Final Verdict

Toyota Tacoma TRD pro is one of those trucks that has the ability to go anywhere and do things that most of the trucks can only dream off. With beefed up suspension and TRD trademarks all over the car makes it attractive to look at. The storage spaces are plentiful in the vehicle and can carry passengers with ease. In addition to the new safety tech in 2018, it is a really good option to buy.
