2022 Toyota Tundra Double Cab TRD Pro Release date

There has been no information regarding the release date of the 2022 Tundra. However, as per the timeline, the truck is likely to be available by fall 2021.

Toyota has confirmed the replacement of the old V8 with a new V6. The 2022 Tundra TRD Pro is expected to come with a 3.5L twin-turbo V6 which is expected to dish out 409 horsepower and 479 lb-ft. of torque, which is similar to that of the new Land Cruiser. The power would be sent to all four wheels via a 10-speed automatic transmission as per the speculations. The robust vehicle tows around 9900 lbs. of load with ease.

The 2021MY has got a sufficiently good stand in the segment in terms of the engine and its performance. However, the rivals had an edge over the Tundra every time. For the 2022 model, which is expected to come with a better engine, better transmission, better power, and torque, the vehicle would stand right-up against the hard rivals. Here the RAM 1500 Quad Cab seems the fastest in both the 60mph and quarter-mile sprints clocking 6.6 and 15 seconds, respectively, with the rest of the three following closely.

The 2021 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro gets subpar fuel economy ratings. The Ford F-150 SuperCab and RAM 1500 Quad Cab get the best-in-class efficiency ratings of 22 and 21 MPG, respectively, but a smaller fuel tank makes them short in the range figures. On the other hand, the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is the least efficient option and seems to be a misfit when compared to the rivals averaging a combined range of 408 miles.

The 2021 Tundra TRD Pro is the least spacious in the segment. In the rear legroom department, the Silverado goes the shortest. The Ford F-150 can be concluded as the most spacious in the segment, closely followed by the RAM 1500. Coming to the cargo department, Chevy Silverado gets a clear win over the rest of the rivals with a 71.1 cubic feet cargo volume.
